    for my taste, the trick with the duality fuzz and bass fuzzes in general is less busy playing. you lose a lot of clarity when you start doing a lot of complicated runs, but if you lay back on a doom metal type bassline, the fuzz will really sing

      Jeremy Hyrkas totally agree, although there are a few high gain fuzz pedal's out there that really cut through the mix and have more definition such as the famed pharaoh fuzz for guitar, it's amazing on bass as well. but yeah high gain fuzz plus bass equals some fun good ass doom/sludge metal

    Held out on Darkglass for a long time because of the prices. My first Darkglass pedal was the b7k ultra. Now I want the duality and the vintage microtubes also. You'll spend the money in the long run buying and selling cheaper pedals. They are expensive but worth the money IMO.

    Can we have a video just showing us what regular equipment Nathan uses when he is playing bass in a band on stage or by himself for fun (e.g. what pedals, amp, guitar does he prefer to use)

  • @As5Hat
    @As5Hat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    man i went deep with these pedals lol - Vintage and A/O Ultra, Hyper Lum, and Harmonic Booster plus a Neo cab. Suffice to say its rly fun to play my rig now and ready for most anything. All I did was sell some magic cards..RIP Not very keen on that Duality pedal btw. you can tell its one of their earlier models.

    Why not start a series sounds like but oriented towards bass guitars and players? Maybe idea for the near future :)

    Darkglass used to be from chile then moved to Finland, there's a little fun fact and a bass player with a good fuzz tone would probably be Troy sanders

    Lee was probably right for having the vintage deluxe on. Fuzz does sound a lot different when it is played through compressed amps. I guess playing the fuzz through the vintage deluxe or the compressor would have sounded less harsh.

  • @trevcornwall8160
    @trevcornwall8160 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yea that compressor wasn't really effecting the tone too much which is I guess what you want! Lovin the Vintage Deluxe that sounds in the same kinda ball park as some of the Bass Drivers out there! Impressed with that one!

    Best sounding comp ever, the first where you can actually hear the compression improve the tone (rather than just level it) without cheapening it. Don't like the fuzz at all. Overdrive is nice but nothing I can't get with other pedals if I'm honest.
    If I had the money to spare I'd get the compressor immediately! Unfortunately it's way out of my budget, but you can at least hear where all those dollars are going (unlike with most boutique gear)!

    Cliff Burton used a very fuzzy sound that sounded great. If you play more melodically but in a slightly down-tempo manner then the duality sounds epic, especially with higher notes and strummed chords. Have Dave come in and demo the Duality. He uses the B7k.

    The figuring on that bass is interesting. Unusual for a Fender, almost got some Kiesel/Carvin vibes going.

    • @hrodbert696
      @hrodbert696 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a Fender Dimension. Came out a couple years ago. Kind of Fender's take on the Stingray concept.

    • @Todesnuss
      @Todesnuss 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      hrodbert696 I know the model. They usually don't have that kind of figuring is what I'm talking about. In fact I can only think of one brand that does mixed or half figured guitars and that's Kiesel.

    That entire rig is dirty to begin with. how can you demo drive or fuzz pedals with a filthy rig. You need a clean amp and bass for good bass drive sounds. I never use a dirty amp for dirty bass sound. i get it from the pick ups and a drive pedal. you can't use both. Same principles as a guitar amp guys.
