Honest to God, why doesn't TH-cam/Twitch hire content creators for these positions? If anyone would know how to keep the content creators happy, it would be them.

Everything is so out of focus for these people, and it almost is obvious that they are money hungry. I just hope in the future there is positives, because right now, my hope is ever so losing its grasp. Thank you Charlie for giving us this news, and continuing to keep everyone updated with as much as you can. And to anyone who did in fact read this, hopefully things get better...
My advice to you is post more consistently on TH-cam. You’ll learn as you go what works and what doesn’t. Twitch is great after you’ve already built an audience. Otherwise Twitch has ZERO discoverability and there are thousands of people doing the exact same thing you’re doing and the people who are already getting views will get the majority of the attention. I recommend getting an Instagram and reaching out to communities and the best advice I can give you is to not give up if this really is your dream. Good luck
this is crazy for me aswell. just a couple weeks ago our company CEO and 3 other big wigs were "no longer working with us" CEOs seem to dropping like flies everywhere. this was also the 2nd or 3rd CEO we have had in 4 years. looks like that job isnt so essential to the board lol
idk if they reversed it at some point, but when they made it so you have to subscribe to each individual channel to not see ads on that channel, rather than paying for some overall twitch subscription to stop ads, is when I bailed. I just watch the vods ad free on youtube these days
As much crap as people rightfully give Twitch I genuinely hope they can hold a spot as a competitor in the space for the sake of the people who have full time jobs but also healthy competition with TH-cam.
My friend actually met him once in Belgium (Bruges) at a café and he talked about twitch with him very openly and even gave him a twitch business card (photos for proof). It just seems like he doesn’t talk about it when it comes to social media or the general public. Even though my mate said he was chill i do still agree that it’s bad to be out of touch with the community.
Maybe Shear just doesn't engage much with social media? A work life balance is an important thing and the fact that he can be the CEO of something like Twitch and go home to be a family man rather than be all consumed by it is a good thing in my eyes. I'd imagine that being switched on and talking about his work 24/7 might get very dry for those who know him personally, either that or it could be an effect of their PR department?
But to never celebrate anything about it or mention it on your social media? I mean you should occasionally mention the company if you're proud of it every decade or so.
@@johnolsen8772 well you'd think he'd at least post if they were doing Twitchcon or some other big event. I have posted when my company's have done celebrations or big trips. I just feel they're completely out of touch with the users and social media in general.
Man I've been saying for years that these corporate companies are in trouble if the echo chamber doesn't end! They fact that they stick with an internal hire may be the nail in the coffin for them!
Twitch wouldn't even be a popular platform if the streamers didn't take the time to create the content, making their platform self-sustaining on the hard work of someone elses labor. They dont have to look for people to host content on their sight, they dont have help produce the content, they dont even have push the content, they dont even need to advertise their platform. Everyone else does the work to keep the platform a float, all they have to do to maintain the platform and keep it up and running.
All that takes staff, server storage costs, security for protection of data (like identities/financial info) and plant and equipment. People seem to think because they can operate from their bedrooms so can companies. Without infrastructure, none of it works which is why people rely on places like YT, Twitch et al to do the back end work. The way the internet works people could do it all without them and run their sites themselves. But few want to do the work involved or expend the funds. That's what they pay these platforms for, even if they're paying too much. It's still their choice.
@@b1nary_f1nary then they’re okay with the way they’re treated. People need to act on stuff like that. Imagine if most streamers switched to YT after the news. Twitch would have to fix issues. Only action can affect it, not complaints.
My thoughts are that Dan is going to be the "fall guy". I think Twitch, and a lot of companies, are going to go through a tough time the next year or so and Twitch is going to have to make a few unpopular decisions. They're going to stick these to Dan and then he's going to step away or retire which the community will praise but the unpopular decisions will not be reversed.
I will say that as a hair dresser people were shocked I wasn’t promoting my business all the time and doing hair at home. The fact is I liked to keep my house and my profession separate. I’ve not ever wanted my clients to know where I live.
Bro that line made me realize how real you really are but you know how deep they are watching. The difference between your knowledge and what you share with us is vast af!
With people like Emmett and Dan being so out of touch with Twitch that the CEO himself wasn't known because of never mentioning his status, it's no wonder that this platform is at a very low point to survive.
Forcing people to run adds is like forcing your serving staff to "Engage more with the customers" Has no effect, and makes the person doing it feel like shit lmao
Charlie can’t help admire your ability to swiftly deliver accurate news, the only possible way to improve is to fix the askew GOSLAP poster in the back ground. Thank you stay moist. 💖
This could be a classic case of “if it didn’t happen on Twitter it didn’t happen at all”. This man could be busting his ass off behind the scenes but because he doesn’t make weekly Twitter posts it didn’t happen 😂.
i hear he put on quite the show when he played Banquo in his high school production of Macbeth, this means he knows how to effectively run a streaming platform
Let's be real; we all know what's going to happen. Nothing will change or things will get worse. Anytime a lead role from a multibillionaire company steps down, they're replaced by someone who's the exact person or helped create the platform we have today. The only way things will change is if the entire executive board gets wiped out.
Man, Twitch ads really are the best. And it's even better when you get two pre-roll ads in a row, and then get 4 mid-stream ads right after 'cause you just happened to show up right before the "auto-ad" break.
Regardless of the reason, it makes sense to step down as this is not the same company it was. Twitch is not the same company. I feel like Twitch was once just like a lot of place on the internet a place smart people created to connect with other on their interests, belong and escape the very people that eventually come along like "Nice shit you got here nerds" and take it over. Now Twitch is just full of normies and would-be cam girls pretending to care about anime and games to farm viewers.
I've just now noticed that bottom right god slap poster and it's driving me crazy lol. Also, it'll be ingesting to see how things go at twitch, especially in comparison to how things will go at youtube with the new ceo
Recent years taught me that if the CEO of a company is leaving, something stinky is cooking in the oven. If I were a streamer, I'd start looking for another job.

A CEO this silent and invisible is the mark of liability. If they cannot talk about the platform, reach out to the streamers, listen or be involved in any way, then what are they doing? Aside from siphoning revenue
You aren’t exactly wrong either.
i never seen charlie edit so much of his excitement, you can see on the frames unedited that he was so happy saying things we will never hear :(
Am i dyslexic or do i not get this
@ssesse4267 You're not alone, i don't get it either

Imagine what twitch would be like if Charlie became the CEO
I mean. He’d probably be a hell of a lot better, but I doubt he would want that kind of stress. Cool to think about though!

Moister.
Honest to God, why doesn't TH-cam/Twitch hire content creators for these positions? If anyone would know how to keep the content creators happy, it would be them.
This has the same energy has ‘’mr beast should be president lol’’ wtf does Charlie know abt running a business
Gotta love those 8 ads, especially their rpg earrape one. Classic.
Susan’s experience in running a massive tech company: Letting would be Tech giants use her garage during the early years. The perfect person to run a massive company. Someone who had a future gold mine fall into her lap. 😂
I wanna be hopeful, obviously. But as someone who is suffering at every cost right now to get my name out there, this just hurts. Everything is so out of focus for these people, and it almost is obvious that they are money hungry. TH-cam doing all of this stuff with there platform with no regard to any creator, than this with Twitch. I feel bad for content creators. I feel bad for aspiring ones.
Good for him! I would resign too if I had to run a site of brainless toxic people 👏🏽
It’s infested with brainless toxic people BECAUSE he didn’t run it properly
LMAOOO
Introducing... BRAINLESS 14 YEAR OLDS DESTROYING THEIR ENTIRE 10000$ GAMING SETUP BECAUSE THEY GOT STREAM SNIPED!!!
Fax tbh.
man why do you gotta call me out like that
The amount of times I've clicked onto a twitch stream and seen "Ad 1 of 6" and just... closed twitch for the day is just sad. Great job Dan!
idk if they reversed it at some point, but when they made it so you have to subscribe to each individual channel to not see ads on that channel, rather than paying for some overall twitch subscription to stop ads, is when I bailed. I just watch the vods ad free on youtube these days
As much crap as people rightfully give Twitch I genuinely hope they can hold a spot as a competitor in the space for the sake of the people who have full time jobs but also healthy competition with TH-cam.
Thought that said Twitter for a brief moment.
*My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.*
Its good to be optimistic but cautious, remember no matter how bad things have been it could always get worse.
Thanks kidnamedfinger.
Twitch and TH-cam are still locked in a competition to see who can run their platform into the ground first.
@David maybe, I haven't been a CEO but I have enjoyed most places I've worked and still never posted anything about them, have you?
@@johnolsen8772 well you'd think he'd at least post if they were doing Twitchcon or some other big event. I have posted when my company's have done celebrations or big trips. I just feel they're completely out of touch with the users and social media in general.
0:23 every executive in the room playing hot potato with it
Charlie is secretly taking all the CEO’s down so he can take over all the platforms… I see you Charlie…I see you….
Man I've been saying for years that these corporate companies are in trouble if the echo chamber doesn't end! They fact that they stick with an internal hire may be the nail in the coffin for them!
When he first said Dan Clancy, ads started and for some reason it was so cinematic, that I couldn't wait to hear about him
Twitch wouldn't even be a popular platform if the streamers didn't take the time to create the content, making their platform self-sustaining on the hard work of someone elses labor. They dont have to look for people to host content on their sight, they dont have help produce the content, they dont even have push the content, they dont even need to advertise their platform. Everyone else does the work to keep the platform a float, all they have to do to maintain the platform and keep it up and running.
PENGUINZ0 COMMENTED ON MY NEWEST VIDEO WITH PROOF!!!
Well, no one is taken hostile at Twitch. You can just switch platforms and put all of that miraculous input you’ve mentioned. Hope that helps.
@@b1nary_f1nary then they’re okay with the way they’re treated. People need to act on stuff like that. Imagine if most streamers switched to YT after the news. Twitch would have to fix issues. Only action can affect it, not complaints.
So many heinous situations happened on Twitch all because the CEO didn't know he's the CEO of a major live streaming platform.
Emmet Shear is that one guy who just lurks and stays silent in the group chat
My thoughts are that Dan is going to be the "fall guy". I think Twitch, and a lot of companies, are going to go through a tough time the next year or so and Twitch is going to have to make a few unpopular decisions. They're going to stick these to Dan and then he's going to step away or retire which the community will praise but the unpopular decisions will not be reversed.

@@RomanticoutlawLuckily we're not actually stupid, so most people continue to blame the companies. We just can't do much about it.
Granted the CEO isn't an absolute monarchy but seriously how do you let things get THAT bad?
With people like Emmett and Dan being so out of touch with Twitch that the CEO himself wasn't known because of never mentioning his status, it's no wonder that this platform is at a very low point to survive.
Forcing people to run adds is like forcing your serving staff to "Engage more with the customers" Has no effect, and makes the person doing it feel like shit lmao
This is like the equivalent of sneezing on your food and then leaving the restaurant
yooo, fix the poster in the back
…
Remember, it's always morally correct to use an adblock for companies like twitch.
Charlie can’t help admire your ability to swiftly deliver accurate news, the only possible way to improve is to fix the askew GOSLAP poster in the back ground. Thank you stay moist. 💖
oh god, now i'll never unsee it
@@MB-ev9ix join me friend, if enough of us band together we can make a change
This could be a classic case of “if it didn’t happen on Twitter it didn’t happen at all”. This man could be busting his ass off behind the scenes but because he doesn’t make weekly Twitter posts it didn’t happen 😂.
i hear he put on quite the show when he played Banquo in his high school production of Macbeth, this means he knows how to effectively run a streaming platform
sneako constantly complaining on twitter while charlie just lives life 😂😂😂
Hopefully things will change for the better after all the bad stuff going on
Damn bots🙄
Probably not. These platforms are known for being shitty for a reason.
This means free speech is about to go bye bye on these platforms.
I hope the new CEO is even more woke
Let's be real; we all know what's going to happen. Nothing will change or things will get worse. Anytime a lead role from a multibillionaire company steps down, they're replaced by someone who's the exact person or helped create the platform we have today.
The only way things will change is if the entire executive board gets wiped out.
Man, Twitch ads really are the best. And it's even better when you get two pre-roll ads in a row, and then get 4 mid-stream ads right after 'cause you just happened to show up right before the "auto-ad" break.
Twitch CEO: _See's TH-cam CEO step down_
"Wait, I can do that?"
What streamers are you referring to? I mean a lot of people like anime and games, you think everyone on twitch is just pretending?
The one time Charlie hops off the fence: when it doesn't matter.
He is the perfect man to squeeze streamers and workers while increasing profits at all costs.
aight charlie time to step up

I've just now noticed that bottom right god slap poster and it's driving me crazy lol.
Also, it'll be ingesting to see how things go at twitch, especially in comparison to how things will go at youtube with the new ceo
I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. He did good and bad for the company.
Only time will tell if his successor will be better
Bad thing.
Let’s hope the new CEO does not screw up
Don’t hope too much. Twitch is known to be full of incompetent employees. 😬😬😬😬

Screwing up more than it already is? The next step would be straight up closing the platform
