Hey, it's Daniel. I've been away on vacation (no computer and limited cell phone for two weeks!!) and just got the chance to get back on TH-cam this evening. When I saw your video, I was super excited. I'm glad you feel they are a little better than the stock speakers and super happy that your wife is really enjoying them. I may have told you this before, but I don't listen to my sound system very loud and in fact seldom go over 1/2 volume. So some of what you experienced isn't the same as what I did with those speakers. For me, they seemed to give me a warmer and more precise sound over the stock ones. That's my less than professional wording. haha. The Buick Encore written on the boxes was from me. I purchased the speakers for my 2018 Encore and loved them. They stayed with me and went into my 2021 Malibu and then into my first 2023 Bolt EV. In each of those cars I liked the sound a lot. Since my second Bolt (2023 EV 2LT) has the Bose, I decided to just keep them stock and I"m liking it a lot. I can certainly get a little more volume/power out of the system, but even with the bass reduced it's still a little more than my tastes appreciate. I think the Sound Matrix speakers have an overall better sound but just need a little more power. Anyhow, thanks for the great video and enjoy!
Hey Daniel. I've been reading you post on DM Sounds first post, and over to this video and I want to try it on my 2021 Bolt LT (non Bose). Should I get the GHK1 or the GHK2? The only difference is the GHK1 has 4 matching 160 GHA speakers, whereas the GHK2 has 2 front 160 GHA's and 2 rear 160 GHB's. Do you know what yours is and the difference?
This is a good channel but would add a focus on buying the base system and just upgrading the speakers - I think you can get a big jump in sound quality at a much better value this way. I have the base Toyota 6 speaker system in a 2024 Venza. It was surprising to me the improvement I could get just using the equalizer and fader. The dash speakers (tweeter) are incredibly easy to switch out. I am experimenting with replacement tweets or coax for this position and early indications are surprisingly good.
I installed Focal door speakers, an Alpine carplay radio, an Infinity amp, and a Sound Ordinance under-seat subwoofer in my 2000 Tacoma. No dynamat, so the road noise is still prevalent, but it sounds pretty good -- Especially for having no dash or upper door speakers. Installed it all myself, so all in it cost under a grand for a full system overhaul.
People say the Maverick trucks need better speakers, one of the cheap-outs to keep the price low. The hybrid system is like the Escape, a Toyota design more reliable than the all dinosaur juice turbo ecoboom option. The Bolt big battery replacement is likely more expensive, if ever needed. Full on New England accent is Moe Powah.
If you are where I think you are, the Mr. Tunes in Ann Arbor is great and they are JL Audio Max tune certified (a pretty big deal) for tuning DSP aftermarket audio.
I have Opel Astra K 2017(GM product in world called as Vauxhall or Holden) in EU , in USA same or closer to Buick Verano . I was have basic audio with 6 speakers . 2 midrange in dashboard , 2 woofers in front doors and 2 wideband in rear doors . Now I change it with Steg SQL650c front and JBL 627 in rear and connected to 4 channel amplifier Pioneer GM-1004 .Doors are completly sound deadening and closed with plates . Front play full and rear with HPF 80Hz . Its 3x more powerfull and much more punchy and sound more bass and have nice and soft details . No need use subwoofer yet ,this front woofers doing nice work under amp . My upgrade is much expansive and lasts longer , but result is comparable with Toyota Corolla hatchback JBL audio .
you need need need to add and amp. Get a kicker key 200.4 and that should be just enough for those speakers and it will correct the factory time alignment.
you should get a component set up front (tweeters and mid bass separate) so you get a set of tweeters to replace the ones in the A pillars. then get kicker key 200.4 for amp and DSP combo
It would be cool to review some of the drop in speakers for some of the popular cars. There are companies that make drop in upgrades for teslas and for BMWs.
What would be interesting is if you added a 5-channel amp with a big subwoofer and swapped out the tweeters how would it rate? A or B? It is noticeably better on the sound quality for not much money, the upgrade seems to make a lot of sense.

I upgraded my 2015 vw golf to Audison apk165 with a vibe amp. Nothing special but big improvement over standard speakers

Just keep in mind speakers really should match the same ohms and power ratings of the speakers that are being replaced.

Have you checked to see if there’s a wire running back there behind the panel for the amp ? I don’t have the Bose system

having a dedicated amp transforms an audio system
Add an amp first, really interested to see what happens.
Need powah, but a decent upgrade.
I have gotten bass distortion from using way too small of a speaker box, maybe the door cavity is just too small to alleviate the extra bass pressure.

That steeringwheel looks very dirty, for such a new car the wheel shouldnt be that shiny, no offence!
