This may not be perfect in terms of the specific opera and it’s school, but in terms of singing and the aria it is beyond perfect. With only a piano? Magical in every way. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

On the one hand, you have volunteered to become a token member of the vicious Parterre Box community. It is no honor. On the other, you whimper about "where did all the great sopranos go?" and then you go on and on and on about the so called merits of Amber Wagner or Angela Meade or Tamara Wilson or practically anyone the Met chooses to hire nowadays. And the fact is that none of them, singly or combined, could shine the shoes of sopranos such as, for example, Aprile Millo or Cheryl Studer or Carol Vaness or others of their era. Worse even, none of the former will reach footnote status when the story of our operatic times gets written, should it ever be. You may want to send the memo to your dear Netrebko Troll (JJ) or to Peter G Davis, to name but two who attempted to discredit the work of so many singers from that era. Shameful, really.

nadie canta esto como aprile millo ..al piano o con orquesta..su voz es de una diva impresionante...igual que otra version de esta misma aria de pilar lorengar...todo un par de mitos vocales....una preciosidad de aria en estas dos voces..no os dejeis llevar por el video de youtube...aprile millo es una cantante de las que yo denomino....bellisima...voz...fuerza...claridad...seguridad....soberbia ..y divismo sincero..una mujer fantastica........talves la ultima de las grandes sopranos veristas.

Peraltro, il testo della romanza da salotto di Gastaldon trova con lei legittima significanza muliebre. Millo was one of the best sopranos, I agree! But this aria she sings to heavy, like verismo arias,not enough Chzech romantic as well in her singing. Please - listen to same aria performed by Teresa Zylis-Gara.
Albert Boussonville I agree. Generally, monochrome at forte (with a few lovely pianissimos). Over the top gestures at the end. Pianist too insistent. It should flow softly and quietly?

Watchinig again and noticing the efficiency of her singing. Very little, if any, unnecessary movement of any kind.
An extraordinary voice, but she is definitely not an actress and I'm not moved!
