    I’ve always found it amazing that you can come crashing through the woods with a skidder and deer will just stand and watch you go by. But come sneaking down the same trail with a deer rifle in your hands. If you’re lucky they’ll show you their ass. If not they’re gone before you come in sight.

    Congratulations on the new-to-you truck, I'm looking forward to seeing it in use with its new loader. When you get your revitalised 540 you will likely be in good order and undoubtedly quicker getting those monsters gathered up with less effort on your part!
    There are clearly some mighty trees on that farm which seem to be cutting well thus far.

    I don't know what dad gave for the Lack but I bet he got the better end of the deal lol. I leave broke everytime I leave Ozarks Machinery. Jeff Barber talks to easy I guess. Love a front mount set up. Unfortunately not good for the way I log but wish it was. I want to be your camera guy next job you get like this one. Brutes!!!!!!

    • @turnerloggingllc
      @turnerloggingllc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dad definitely came out a little better on his end of this deal! I've never met Jeff in person but he definitely doesn't give anything away, especially with a couple changes we had made to our specific configuration verses the normal tail mount setup they usually do. I opted for a 1/3 cord grapple and a in-frame tank on the loader rather than mounting it to the truck frame. I'll probably have to start living in that truck now! Ha! Thank you for always watching, Curtis!! 🙏🙏🙏

    First log truck I ever drove was a 1978 R model. It was a tough old truck. I really love the B models. Does yours have the Mack rears? The walking beam suspension is best for field work. They ride rough but stand up in the woods.

    You just don't see many of those old small skidders anymore most loggers in my neck of the woods have big machines now cutting smaller timber

    • @turnerloggingllc
      @turnerloggingllc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We try to run smaller iron just to keep our footprint small, and they are much easier to move and more fuel efficient as well. We've had some big iron in the past, and some times I miss them, but not very often. Thank you very much for watching, Teddy!!

    I don't like being nosey, I am alot like you and your dad bless his soul. I only hope I am doing it like your dad then I am older. I get most contacts at a 50/50 .split . So any way the question is do you do better at a 50/50 with no up front cash or just buy out right. Congratulations on your new truck. It's funny because we are looking for a truck just because trucking is killing me. Thank you and a great video

    • @turnerloggingllc
      @turnerloggingllc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer to buy timber upfront, and we buy a lot of timber up front. But I leave the payment method completely up to my landowners. I try to be flexible with everything to accommodate my clients the best I can. You can't go wrong on a 50/50 split though, I think it the absolute fairest way, because their is no risk to anyone on how the timber cuts. Thank you so much for always watching, Dean!! 🙏🙏🙏

    Hi Dan!!😀😀
    Those where some really nice logs.
    What was wrong with the steering on the 440 ? You showed us that the steering wheel was just spinning freely and the machine wasn't. Was it just low on fluid?
    Take care my friend!!😀😀👍👍

      Al, I'm almost embarrassed to even say what's wrong with it. As you very well know I'm not a mechanic...at all. But yesterday while dragging I noticed to nut that holds the wheel on was loose. I tighted it back up and works like new 🤣
      I was happy it was something extremely simple with no cost, but felt like an idiot!! Thank you very much for always watching, Al.!! 🙏🙏🙏
