Thanks for the chain choker demo. I've heard of them, but always used cable, and after watching this, I will keep using cable. BTW I started running a cable skidder at age 11, 50 years ago.
Bore cut the hell outta that first tree lol, no barber chairs around this guy 😂, I'm planning on getting a skidder myself!!! I run some hot saws here in nm, sell alot of firewood
Have to agree, the 640 was a nice size skidder, not to big, not to small, 6 cylinder motor had plenty grunt over the 4 cylinder and was still cheap to run
Nice video! Why do you like cables better? Chains are more “dead” to work with. Cables are under tension and you always get your fingers in those wire splinters😆
Thank you.The cable chokers are easier to get under trees, they can be unhooked one handed, they dont get lost, they are cheaper, and they dont get covered in mud and snow so they keep your gloves dryer.
Mighty little machines these old 440's are.😊

@@kinvillesdoitall8047 we all have our preferences:)
Hope to see more of the skidder👍
Cable chokers are far faster. I only ever use chain on small trees, or if I need a better bite. Cable is lighter to drag as well.
You won't drag those choker chains around very long !
