Tom👍👍 Very nice pump drill demo and construction video. These have been used for fire making also, like a regular bow drill. Great video, thanks my brother.
That’s right Terry 😁👍🏻🔥 and thanks for sharing your knowledge with us 🏕🔥🌲
Tom
I would still love to see a video on the wee little pots & utensils for your butter & honey!
Thanks for an excellent tutorial . All the best for all future endeavors.
Thank you so much for your feedback 👍🏻😉 and glad you liked my tutorial 🔥🏕🌲Tom
That was a really clear concise easy to understand video, thankyou, going to make one now.

That was good! I love the way you explain clearly on your "how to do" videos! Thank you
Thanks my friend 🤗 for watching my DIY videos as well. Atb to you 🏕🔥🌲🐕

You made a chuck for your drill bits (out of the plug). Excellent!
Thanks for the feedback 😁👍🏻I’m glad you like my idea 🏕️🔥

This channel is incredible, I'm so happy to have found it. No doubt it will blow up in popularity any time, everything is so clear and articulate and the finished works are both aesthetically gorgeous and very useful
Thank you so much for your kind and positive feedback 🤗 I’m so glad you like my DIY channel and grateful that you found me 👍🏻😉🏕🔥🌲
Tom
Excellent construction, mixing old and new materials to get a traditional look. Clever way to change bits. I'd been searching for pump drills a while and only found the fire version. Then your video showed up in my feed and satisfied my need. Thank you! I'm truly grateful that we can find help and answers from strangers on the other side of the planet nowadays (I'm from Quebec, Canada). I've picked up spoon carving and old hand tool restoration during the pandemic, and expanded into more woodworking and bushcraft skills. Thanks again for a great video ❤
Thanks Linda for your feedback 😁👍🏻 I’m glad my video could help you and I hope your also following me on my main channel 😉
Best wishes from Denmark 🇩🇰 to you my friend in Canada 🇨🇦🔥
Tom
I have two of them, plus a bow drill, that I use frequently in my shop. one of the pump drills has a fixed bit and the other, which I forged from iron, has a chuck so that I can change bits. The bow drill has several spindles with different bits including a couple for fire making.
That sounds great 👏🏻😉 and thanks for sharing this with us 👍🏻
Tom
Thank you! Great video
Glad you like it and found it interesting 😁 and thanks for your feedback 🏕🔥🌲🐕
Tom
I made one out of an empty Copenhagen dip can, a shishcabob stick, a spatula stick, sewing string and little duct tape. 🤣
Ha ha that’s probably going to work PERFECTLY 😉👍🏻
Tom
Instructional video, please?
Hmmm maybe I’ll make one in the future 😉👍🏻

Had to look up “Copenhagen dip can”-can’t believe an “old timer” like me had _forgotten_ what “dip” is! Well, aging does hit the brain-BTW, GROSS! I guess I can “get” “smoking,” but… Ugh!..
Anyway-I see these containers littered all over the place.
🤔 I’ve always figured that there just _had_ to be any number of cool things that could/might be MacGuyvered out of them, but… 🤷♂️
Nice.
Definitely making one. Cool project!
That’s great Chris 🤗👍🏻 and thanks for your feedback 🔥
Tom
Прекрасная работа, Tom!!!
I watched this about an hour ago, went and made one with some scrap wood in the barn. This was pretty cool and simple to make, thank you for teaching.
Your welcome my friend 😁👍🏻and glad you liked it and made one yourself 🔥🏕️🌲
Tom

Tom

Genius sir! 🙌🏻🤙🏻
Thanks a lot my friend 😁👍🏻 glad you like it 🔥
Tom
I love it 👏 👏 👏 👍
Appreciate that very much 😉👍🏻 and thanks 🙏🏻 Tom
Nice:-)
Thanks a lot 😁👍🏻🔥
Tom
my Grandfather taught me how to make one of these would spend hours drilling holes in bricks
Thats great 😁👍🏻 and glad my video took you down memory lane 🔥
Tom
Neat.
Thank you so much 😁👍🏻🔥
Tom
So in order to make a drill you have to...have a drill?
No I guess you could make it with a knife 🔪 I just used a drill because it was easier
Tom 🏕️🔥🌲
You'd be surprised how easy it is to hand drill a hole with a properly sharpened stone.
Wonder if using a hockey puck drilled out with a small step drill bit ( to allow for improfections in stick part of drill ) & rubber would conform/"stick"- hold fast to stick part of drill would work well or not.
Yeah I’m sure that would work great 😉👍🏻 and easy to make … great idea my friend🔥
Tom
Is it okay to put a extra long stick so that when it pump it has more spin ?
No then it will touch the round slab and will not work 😊👍🏻🏕️🔥Tom
Cool video, seems like it would make a good drill for fire starting?
Yeah that’s right 😉👍🏻🔥 it would work perfectly for that as well. Thanks for your feedback my friend 🏕🔥🌲
Tom
Great job! BTW the flywheel it's could be from wood or it must be from stone or steel or any harder and more heavy thing?
Thanks for your feedback and question 😁👍🏻 It could be made from wood … but the heavier slab/stone gives it better rotation 😉🏕🔥
Tom
@@diycimbrer Thank you for answer:)Have a good day.;)
Same to you my friend 🤗
❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍🐾🐕🇵🇭
Thanks a lot my friend 😁👍🏻🏕️🔥🐕Tom 🇩🇰
Looks like you used some glue on the flywheel.
Ha ha yeah that’s right 😆
The small one I sanded too much so I had to secure it with some glue so it wouldn’t get loose and fall down 👍🏻
Tom
I'm confused. I thought the whole point of creating primitive tools was to show how to do it with natural materials found in the natural environment.
Why use modern tools to create primitive tools? If one has modern tools, wouldn't it make more sense to just use those to get the job done?
That’s another way to do it 😉 but I want to show how everyone can make sure one … and not how it was made originally … hope you understand my reason behind this video 🤔👍🏻
Tom
