    Finally someone who recognizes that you get what you paid for. I've seen so many reviews praising the Royal Enfield's and comparing them to a Triumph T100's & T120'S but they aren't completely honest - the Royal Enfield may be a nice bike for the price, but they are not on the same level with a Triumph.
    Truth: T120 > T100 > Royal Enfield 650 = All great bikes - buy the one you can afford.

    Well done and very informative. I have a BMW R1200GS Adventure and wanted a more “day to day” bike and was torn between the T120 & T100. The T120 won out for all the reasons you mentioned and I couldn’t be happier. Got rid of the “pea shooters” and fitted British Custom Predators and what a beautiful deep sound they make. We’re coming into summer here in Australia so hopefully, COVID permitting, will get some riding in. Looking forward to more of your videos. Stay safe.

    I just love these comparisons. You guys love T120. Other guy says that he actually prefers the 5 gears 900cc engine, because gears are more spread/longer/taller, so you don't have to change them so often. Smaller engine needs less fuel, with the same tank it equals longer reach. Single break disc means less weight of the wheel, less gyroscope effect equals easier handling. And as of late august 2023 T100 costs 9600£ and T120 costs 11800£, so its 2200£ difference, which is kinda a lot.

    Hi Sam, Great video. Last week I purchased a T120 orange/grey just like the bike you test rode! In the US there is a 1750 dollar difference, but with Triumph's seasonal discounts right now, you get an extra 250 more off on the T120 than the T100. So for 1500 dollars the heated grips, center stand (essential for cleaning and lubing chains) dual disc front brake, 6 speed and bigger engine it was an easy choice. Also better headlight, dual riding modes, chrome valve cover (compared to black on the T100), rear grab rail, and faux carburetors (None on the T100) make it a better looking bike in my opinion. The T120 may be heavier, but with the bigger engine, extra gear, center stand and extra disc brake, almost all of that weight is down low on the bike making it easy to control.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fantastic! Congratulations on the new bike! I agree with you! It seems like an obvious option, the T120 has so much more to offer for not a lot of difference in price, plus having those additional benefits means you're less likely to want a change!
      Thanks for watching

    I have a 2018 T120 that I bought after testing just about everything under the sun, including options far more expensive. The first time I rode it, I was immediately smitten with its perfect balance of character and refinement, a feeling that never diminished as I tried alternatives. Now, with several seasons with the Bonnie under my belt, I couldn't be happier. Any bike is fun fast, including this one, but the T120 also makes leisurely cruises a pure joy. I've thought about buying another bike, but I'd never sell this one.

    Both are great looking motorcycles. I didn't think I would like the all blsck T100, but it looks great. Yhr T120 is by far the better bike with the riding modes, heated grips, center stand, SIXTH GEAR and of course the 1200cc engine. I'm usually pretty tight with my money, but I think I'd have to go with the T120. Thank you for telling hte RPM's at highway speeds in top gear on both bikes. This means a lot to me and so many reviews do not tell the RPM's. Like I said, both are GREAT looking bikes.... and what a cutie (not the bike). You are a Blessed man. I just picked up my Bonnie T120 in Baja Orange and Dark Grey....what an awesome bike. Update: having ridden 2600 miles on the bike this summer (mostly country roads) the experience has been fantastic. If I could change anything on the bike, I would have the handlebars sweep back a little bit towards the rider. I was in a shop yesterday where the owner had a 1965 Bonneville with original bars that were slightly raised and swept back and they looked perfect.

    I bought a new one in 2017 and still have it - the throttle is a little snatchy when the bikes are new alright but mine mellowed out nicely as the mileage went up - I think it has something to do with the factory set up to get it to comply with emissions. Its a bike that needs plenty of tlc though - no leaving it out in the rain even under a cover. The engine casings and all that chrome wheel spokes etc corrode easily if the bike is not molly coddled and garaged.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice! Very nice video. I see that your girl friend, she someone who knows what she wants 👏👏👏.
    I think that the T120 is a keeper and the T100 is the entry bike in the Bonneville family. If you’re beginning to ride bigger bikes the entry level is definitely by the T100. Otherwise, sooner than later, you’ll be looking for something above it, specially if you know there’s a T120 to do the up grade. Thanks for the video.

    I know this test ride was not long and so maybe tough to measure suspension and seat comfort . . . You made no comment on the rear suspension, so, I assume it was comfortable and not overly stiff? Some reviews have complained of "feeling" every bump from the rear shock, and, a less than comfortable seat? Thanks. Enjoyed the review,

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do tend to feel quite a bit through the suspension but then I'm used to riding bikes with stiffer suspension so may be the reason I didn't pick up on it as much as others. It wasn't overly stiff though. As for the seat, I had no issues with comfort at all. Some bikes you get off after an hour and can tell that you'd be somewhat sore after another hour, but that wasn't even a thought on this! Position is comfortable, seat had plenty of padding although not very sculpted. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    Coming to this review late, but enjoyable. I bought a 21 T100 and I am very happy with it. My brother has a '17 T120 and we swop around. I prefer the 900 engine and the lighter steering on the T100. In 21 the engines were revised with a slipper clutch. The throttle issue has gone away on the T120 as well. Comparing the '17 and '21 engines the latter is much improved. The T100 is the 14th motorcycle I have owned in 46 years of riding motorcycles and it is superb. You can pick any Bonneville you like and they are all lovely to ride. I paid the extra cash for cruise control, centre stand, a rear rack and paniers. However the 6th gear is the T120 superpower and the T120 can get better fuel economy at higher speeds because of it.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amazing to hear from someone that gets to ride both relatively regularly too! Obviously this was only a test ride scenario so difficult to find out what you really do and don't like. I'd genuinely be happy owning either because they are such a pleasure to ride!

      @@SamVBikes He also owns a 16 Street Twin with the 900 High Torque engine. The frame on that is too small for me, but it’s a lovely bike although he has had to replace the rear shocks on the twin and the T120 to improve the handling. The 21 bikes feel much better as soon as you sit in them. The suspension, frame and handling feel solid. They are only let down by the wandering Pirelli Phantoms fitted as standard.

    Hi ! I bought my T120 in June, 2019. Significantly better than the T100. Brakes are good on the T120. And super comfortable. Since changing the tyres to Metzeler Premium Road Tec01 the T120 handles significantly better.
    T120 mirrors i could not see behind apart from my arms. So changed to bar end mirrors.
    On tight twisties you need to exercise a bit of caution. Cant just chuck it around.
    For me I bought it for the looks only. As in classical. Had a few minor scratches which you could hardly see and they took 3000 bucks off.

    I hate it when people on you tube try to push off underpowered bike on new riders. In 2 months of riding, they are going to be stuck with that underpowered bike and regret not getting the T120. I think if you don't want to spend more money on the T120 get the T100, new rider or not.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's a general rule of any advice to new riders. It's more forgiving. Same reason people recommend buying a 600 or smaller for your first track bike, so you can truelly learn your craft instead of getting thrown from it the first time you make a mistake. I was on an "underpowered" bike for 2 years and learnt more about my riding doing that than I would if you stuck me on my current super adventure. No reason you can jump on a bigger bike, but I'm sure 99% of experienced riders will agree, a smaller capacity, lighter bike will help you more

      Definitely agree with you. You can essentially go anywhere on any bike. I only meant they aren't aimed at people who are looking to spend hours on the motorway (lack of wind protection etc). The old saying of judging a fish on its ability to climb a tree springs to mind. They are fantastic bikes and you can of course sit on motorways on them but I didn't want to criticise it based on something it wasn't specifically designed to excel at. Hope that makes sense! I bought my T100 black with all the extras in 2014, I hated it because of the road legal pipes. I put, not for road use pipes on it and loved it. I find the rubbish quality of the metals they use on spokes and chrome work beggars belief.
    Honestly, I love my bike and I owned a GPX ninja before it, but that was a licence looser.
    They didn't make a T120 at the time but honestly I don't think I would have bought one anyway. I still own my T100 and I have an electric car so compared to a T120 user I'm probably carbon neutral-ish.
    I've watched this argument about bigger is better and as you can see I come down on the side of less is more.
    Honest opinion, I don't think I would buy a Triumph again because of the shoddy materials.
    Try this, leave it parked outside your girlfriends for a week in all the weather and see how much work you have to put into it to return it back to top condition.

    Ah, racing through city traffic. Great way to compare motorcycles. Not. The T100 weighs 44 lbs less than the T120. How can that possibly make it feel "so much lighter"? I have a 2019 T120. The superior front brakes and center stand make it the best choice. The extra power is just an added bonus. ( The heated hand grips are WAY too warm, unless you're riding in the Arctic. )

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd hardly say that was "racing through city traffic". Slow speed traffic through a busy town moving around traffic, motorways, and some back roads which is what I would use the bike for and I assume most people would do too. To me, the T100, riding them back to back, felt a substantial amount lighter... I'm not sure if that was down to fuel level or another factor but this was a first impressions ride. I mention a few times as to how I feel the T120 is the better option, with power, brakes, centre stand and a few other factors being mentioned. Appreciate your comment and opinion
