Lots of Canadians think the money Canada distributes is just the government's money or they think taxes should go only to their own interests. Seeing as how Canada is a place American millionaires buy homes in to escape their faltering economy, it makes sense that people don't want the money to be distributed properly. Especially smith, who seems to be falling head over heels for the orange dictator

Really this so called G.S.T. holiday won’t help much. If he was serious about helping Canadians he would get rid of it on our heating and hydro bills and gasoline.

@@Arasteele Sorry, no, housing has NOT "always been a provincial purview". Affordable housing was almost exclusively a federal thing (building up to 20% of the Canada's housing each year, ALL of it affordable and means tested whether bought or rented, which also kept the cost of ALL housing down), up until the 1980's when the FEDS decided to start transitioning housing over to the provinces . And the provinces have done a horrible job of it ever since with home prices, rental costs and housing shortages skyrocketing, as the provinces pretty much just handed the responsibility over to wealthy developers, corporations and speculators (many of whom are also subsidized by provincial governments but with NO decrease to the cost of housing OR hardly any "affordable" housing being built). So maybe the feds SHOULD get back into the game (and NEED to get back into the game), regardless of how loud some premieres screech. Because we ARE in a housing crisis and have been for some time.
