I had the same low coolant light as you. I ended up changing out the coolant reservoir tank which has a sensor embedded in it that goes bad. The coolant reservoir in these trucks get stained really bad due to the heat from the engine.
It has been a great truck and I can’t complain, same resolution for the 5.7 and 6.4 hemi engines, just different locations for the heater hoses coming from the heater core
It’s usually a temporary cheap solution, you can try flushing the entire coolant system and also replace the coolant and thermostat while you are at it
I have a 22 Ram 1500 5.7 Limited IMO coolant changes are the most overlooked maintenance of all due to mfg saying 150,000 mile service intervals I drain and vacuum fill my coolant every year drain radiator remove all the coolant from the reservoir with a large syringe and flush the tank you will find settlement of supplement additive make sure all is removed and vacuum fill very important to remove air pockets to avoid hot spots takes 30 minutes cost $18 8 quarts total mixed 1:1 with Distilled water if you look at your coolant tank tells the story why you need to flush now the damage is done very important IMO to change every year also if you live in warm climates like Florida turn your heat on several times in summer months to recirculate coolant most folks dont think about coolant until something brakes at that point the damage is done this is why engines fail coolant is just as important as engine oil. If you think about the $18/year x 10 X =$180 replacing the heater core is a major job cost around $1500 add in the cost of water pump another $1500 change thermostat before it goes bad and effects internal parts like head gaskets and so many other components many people overlook cabin air filter as well every fluid and filters must be changed before needed to extend the life of your car or truck they dont heal like our bodies preventive maintenance is the only cure or its just to late your heater core is damaged and all could be prevented with regular coolant changes mfg know this that's why they tell you sure go 150,000 miles and come see me in 5 years and buy another $90,000 truck F that do your maintenance F them. There should really be a coolant filter IMO
I’d love to see manufacturers installing coolant filters from the factory, I agree, coolant should be changed more regularly. I was planning on changing all fluids at 75,000 miles but I’m already 10,000 over due on that and I’d rather wait until spring for warmer weather. These 10° days are getting old

That core will plug right back up. I've flushed my 2018 3500 core four times now and it plugged up again.

That makes sense. I know it’s incredibly common on these trucks, I flushed all the rams we had at my old job for the same problem
