    Mistakes that boosted made
    1. They got distracted from their core business and created electric scooter.
    2. They failed to upgrade they product regularly to stay ahead of competition.
    3. They did not use great time tested skate hardware on their latest boards.
    (Boosted stealth had no load deck, no caliber trucks or no orangatang wheels.)

      4. They had way too many investors than the chew... They went public from the pressure and the electric scooter destroyed that market so they tried the scooter market which drove them even deeper... Too much competition

    Boosted were always WAY too expensive, perfect recipe for taking a company under - sell something expensive to a target audience in which 60% probably don't have jobs due to school.

      Boosted offered something extra - their support was exceptional and all their products felt high quality. I went throuh rainstorms with 1inch of water on the road and BB just soldiered through. Talking about support, I even received set of two new motors for free - I emailed them that I had correded contacts on mine and they sent me new ones for free, incl. shipping to europe. Ive done couple thousand miles on mine V2+, destroyed the remote controller yesterday, now Im in deep sh... and looking for replacement. I will keep using it until some irreplaceable parts breaks down.
      I think the main reason they went under is this large venture capital funding they grabbed. These investors gave them 60M, they surely expected a lot in return. So Boosted had to look for new market and they went scooter... which failed and therefore ruined the company.

  • @OneTonBobby
    @OneTonBobby 4 ปีที่แล้ว +37

    I just emailed boosted directly. They immediately responded with: "Boosted went out of business a few months ago but we picked up the torch. We have tones of inventory, parts and aren't going anywhere. Feel free to order with confidence, if you have an issue we've got you covered."

    I got myself a Yuneec Ego 2 and I couldn't be happier with it. It only goes up to 12 mph but frankly that's more than fast enough for me and it still feels amazing to ride. Any other boards you can get for the same price as it are normally off-brand garbage. If anyone wants a cheap electric skateboard that is still reliable, Yuneec Ego 1 or 2 is the board for you.

    • @mshaftenberg
      @mshaftenberg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yuneec E-Go was my first board, loved it very much. I swapped to an Evolve GT long ago and the difference is obvious. E=Go is an old Mercedes Diesel, while the Evolve has some extra comfort and a turbo under the hood. I'd recommend the E-Go to everyone who is new to electric Skateboard, pure joy to ride.

    I got no love for Boosted. They were the first to bring e-skateboards to market and this is what justified their pricing. Bullshit. You can get a decent board that performs the same and better than Boosted for a third of the price. No lie. They also fucked up trying to do a scooter. WTF!?!? Good riddance. More for us. Casey can have a custom boosted clone made if he wants. He probably has a stash of them as well. Also things have advanced... My Evolve GTR can do 30 miles. Getting 16 on the All Terrains and 28 - 30 on the (street) Abex 107s. Also speed is closer to 30mph... 35 to 40 with (third party) 23T Gear. I think Boosted did a great thing but couldn't keep up. When boards like Slick Revolution/ Exway started pushing boards for half the price with higher specs, and even the likes of the cheaper overseas brands.. Boosted didn't have something at every price point.

    thats sad man. i remember around 7 years ago watching them on TED talk about theyre board and it was new to me back then. they wern't even shipping outside USA back then. i waited years... then finally a few years ago i got a board from china because i cant afford a boosted board. i hope they survive because they inspired me and the world with theyre innovation and its potentially green like, i buy my electricity from a company that supply energy into the grid using only wind solar and hydro. 7 years ago they're TED talk said so many things to me for the future and where we're going not just the board itself. and im still inspired. Boosted you gotta survive man!
    I even sat and thought about raising the money and flying out to cali to pick one up and bring it home because they diddnt ship outside USA back then but that was just a dream for me, like i wish

    If you want a boosted board, you can still get the boards on boostedusa.com/ . The owner of Last Mile SF bought nearly all of the remaining inventory from Boosted, and is hosting the site. Of course once the inventory is out, it's out, BUT they do want to continue to help the Boosted community by servicing boards. Hope this helps anyone still trying to get a board. I have the Stealth and I had a V1 dual motor boosted board as well. I love the boards, and I am devasted that I can't get another one in the future. It almost reminds me of when the Sidekick phones stopped production. I was loyal to them as well.. so sad.

    Question is, is the remote any good? In my opinion what made Boosted great was their intuitive remote which no one was able to copy because they had a patent on it. What about the exway flex? Someone needs to do a remote review.

    In my opinion, the absolute BEST alternative to boosted these days is the backfire zealot. My old boosted v2 started failing awhile ago, and after trying out a friend's zealot, I fell in love with it. My zealot arrived a few weeks back and I've already put over 80 miles on it. I can confidently say that it is better than boosted in almost every way. It's faster. It's got more range. It's torquier. It's got telemetry to the remote with a live speed readout, a trip meter, an odometer, and cruise control. It's more affordable than boosted by a longshot. With the discount code, it costs less than half what a brand new boosted stealth would've cost.
    I put over 1,800 miles on my boosted v2. I loved that thing. In my opinion, the zealot is absolutely the best boosted successor.

    As for DIY, with a loaded vanguard, dual 6380 motors, a 12S4P eboosted enclosure, otang wheels, you can have basically a suuuuuper awesome boosted V1 with 10x the torque and double the speed... sorry I love DIY... still considering picking up an off the shelf board just for fun though at some point.

    Ownboard charges $90 for a deck. You can get a way better deck for the same price from an actual longboard company. You just need a router to install the wire.

    I live in San Francisco where they are used a lot. And I've never heard anyone call a non-boosted board as a 'boosted board'. in fact everyone just calls them by their actual name or just 'electric skateboard'.

    Company has a unique product and prices it top-segment. Soon, dozens of other companies copy the product and sell it for a cheaper price. Meanwhile, Boosted expanded causing costs to grow. The copiers go up, the original goes down. A situation that can't hold up for long. Almost identical to GoPro with the difference they're still here.

    Just bought my first electric board after skating/ and long boarding for a while, wanted to get something cheap to learn on in case I dump it. Paid about 249 dollars and got kind of a ripoff of the riptide r1x that goes about 18 mph with 8 mile range. Wanna build my own boards too so I might upgrade the battery on it.

    Boosted failed to innovate and then decided to make a scooter. If they came out with a direct drive board I would have bought it, but for less than $800 I built a board with all the best hardware and a 18 miles of range using a Loaded tan tien deck. Boosted’s market is college students, we’re not going to pay $1600 for something we can make for $800.

    It's been told why they failed so many times, but I haven't heard anyone explain how boosted board worked in the first place.
    Boosted board basically started the whole electric skateboard thing. It was THE brand for electric boards. They had the advertising power to reach new consumers and while the whole thing was still pretty new, they were basically the only brand anyone knew.
    Their boards were expensive as hell, but no one really knew that because competition was few and far inbetween. But, capitalism means competition, so eventually, there were more big electric skateboard companies rising up. They sold their boards cheaper, because of the huge profit margin Boosted had set. Other skateboard companies kept competing in prices and specs, but boosted literally never changed. Same old boards with maybe a little more range or a little more speed, for hundreds of dollars more everytime. And while the quality was great, the market decided it wasn't worth the price gap.
    When I got into electric skateboarding, I took a shot glance at boosted before realizing it wasn't even an option to buy. Looking at the competition, companies were selling boards that were just as fast with even more range for $500 less than boosted was selling their boards.
    So in the end, it's no surprise that Boosted fell, but no one really expected them to. Like, Apple sells horribly over priced items that are still bought, but that's because they have the reputation for it. They can get away with selling the same thing every year for $200 more because they already have people who they know will buy their products. Boosted didn't have that and they didn't adjust accordingly

  • @MisterGames
    @MisterGames 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Large price point means reduced market. If that market all adapts you are done. No more sales. Those who want one but cannot afford a quillion dollars wait for a cheaper version and get that. But now others who could afford more will see the same for less and go that route. Any other excuse is just that, an excuse. If they want to survive they need a competitive priced entry level product, else they are SOOL.

      i won’t say it serves them right but they made many errors. although the tariffs are part of the reason, it was the decision to build a scooter that led to its downfall. not much people are interested in scooters and when u add that with booted overpriced price tag, there is no hope.
