This video brings back many of my childhood life back in the 70s and 80s. I have left Pudu in mid 90s and have never return. Maybe it is time to make a trip back.
I love going to ICC Pudu because of the varieties of food that offered but I have to say that eating in the stall itself has a different vibe to it. I would like to share my personal experience, I used to go to this "illegal" road side stall in Brickfields, which offered Vegetarian food but have to relocated to a new building because the old site's building was expanding. The food is the same, it's just loses something, just like as much as I love the ICC it can't compare to Impi Pasar (current TRX Site). I'm 38 years old, only now I realise why I like to eat outdoor and prefer to drink in mamak instead of cafe, apart from cheaper price, it's the nostalgia. I always remember my grandpa's drink, a glass of Teh Tarik and Warm water. I'm Bless, Thank you for posting such a quality video, got me all emotional.
OMG, Cheong Siu unveiled something I never knew I needed in my life - Chinese Nasi Kandar (I bumped my head on the computer screen trying to look into the pots). What a delightful tour of the Pudu hidden gems, well done again Malaysia Jor. I, too, feel the pangs of his fear that the days of this 'chuen toohng' original artisans' days are coming to an end. I hope I get to savour these delicacies in the near future (when Hor Woon [looking fetching in her chic get-up might I say] said the jook was like "Mama pou.." 🤤)
Im very sure msia jor will find the night foodie tour of Pudu more authentic in nature and down to earth, a nasty surprise could be install for him at the porridge stall when he tries the fish shashimi porridge that cant be found or repeated else where in kl or selangor. Aother surprise will be big tree curry laksa which usually a sell out by 12.30 noon. Despite she begin in the late morning. Good hunting. With these stalls in pudu, its best to savour while they're still around.

半山芭 ~ 山芭 literally means Old fashion OR Downmarket ~ People who are not upscale as in Half Kampung ~ halfway up to keep up with the Jonases. Esp in the 60s ~ 70s where Malaysians were seemingly more affluent. Also, the exposure to the Western world when TVs boxes started to be available in the country and subsequent color TVs in the late 70s.

好多謝會長同可媛嚟到我嘅家鄉半山芭, 同昌少嘅介紹. 本人60后, 喺半山芭住咗20幾年, 當年屋企人係四代同堂喺呢度住. 正確嚟講, 呢嗰區係叫做半山芭樂園. 依家亦有時常返去, 因為仲有長輩喺樂園居住.
當年七八十年代嘅樂園確係一個龍蛇混雜嘅地方, 以前我嘅家長就喺大華戲院對面經營茶室, 天天見到唔少江湖人士, 大華星光金華派亦喺唔同, 但這些江湖人士唔會騷擾我哋, 因為佢哋眼熟同認識喺呢個區住嘅居民.
呢個區嘅居民亦係全部用廣東話交流. 其實當年嘅KL都係咁, 華人如果唔識廣東話, 一個唔好彩真係會被啲長輩uncle罵的😂
當年嘅為食街稱得上係依家pasar malam嘅鼻祖, 喺晚上嘅攤檔係由糖水檔嗰邊一路擺上去到半山芭巴剎路口.

仲有嘀咁有情怀嘅地方啊!正!最近想等退休翻乡下住翻一两个月,缅怀下乡下嘅食物,睇完呢集更加想早嘀翻去住下。
以前细个超憎翻乡下,因为落后,交通又唔方便,住得又差。反而宜家人老左就想怀缅,更希望以前个地方唔好变化太大。
这个吃法我认同。。让那个鸡饭包着焖一下,更好吃。我在别的地方也是用同样的方式吃,的确好吃一点。

30-40年前半山芭从小爸妈每星期带我来数次的地方,从来也不感觉像富都青年的感觉。很安全很多美食,虾米猪肠粉,糖水和炸鸡绝对是我的最爱,还有炒萝卜糕和现在已失传的loklok(在桌子自己烫
我不是当地人,但是这些我都试过😅。大埔面他们分家后我试过老人家这家发现味道比较淡一点,我就比较喜欢店面哪家。炸鸡就有时候晚上去吃配上咖喱猪肠粉。矮屋鸡饭,辣椒跟饭最开胃,可以整包饭吃完。Nasi Kandar我喜欢饭辣椒Sotong就可以搞定。在外面我很少吃粥,除了这粥档。Auntie 的面我就比较喜欢她的鱼圆,可以直接打包十多粒吃,而我孩子喜欢她的干捞。经济杂饭是我近期才吃的,因为一直好奇很多人排队吃,我比较简单喜欢米粉+辣椒+炸鸡。

@2:30, Malaysian can speak multiple dialects of Chinese and English and Malay too.
I live near Pudu but have not even been to most of the food stall, definitely going to explore these! That fried chicken is really the best! 😋
