Hi Uncle Lee, we love your channel. We will be in Malaysia later this year September. Maybe we can meet up for coffee. My wife would really like to meet Ah Leng❤. We are Batu Pahat born but now live in Las Vegas.
Thank you for watching and supporting 🥰🙏. Our plans are very fluid and we don’t know where we will be in September this year but if we are around in KL when you are around, sure we can have coffee… and will drag Ah Leng along too 🤣. You can then see her eat like there’s no tomorrow 😂 Take care and stay safe.
@@UncleLeeAdventuresHi Uncle Lee, Thank you so much for your reply. I’ll be in touch as we get nearer. No problem for me to order ‘Kar Fun’ for Ah Leng😂.
Wow hidden treasure indeed! I like claypot rice. This way you get your meat etc in one pot.The crispy rice at the bottom is also the best. 👍👍👍Awesomeness!
There are a lot of delicious food in Pudu.. there are also a lot more at the night market.. have a safe trip to Malaysia in December… it has begun to rain everyday now from about 3-4pm… cool days but wet.
Uncle Lee .. once again thank you . Now I have to get the mop out to mop the floor of my saliva . The food looks absolutely delicious. Keep your videos up
Uncle Lee got so deep experience of Chinese food around pudu district. Yes, Pudu (半山把) is the central of Chinese foods & Snack. Thanks to Uncle & friends for sharing with us. 😋😄👍🙏
Watching you guys eating kolo men, claypot rice, roasted pork, treasury duck, Peking duck etc made me drooling. I am going to try out all these food on my next trip to Malaysia. Keep up the good work Uncle Lee, Ah Fatt, Lady boss and Ah Leng. Regards from Edmonton, Alberta Canada.
Pudu is my hometown. I was born at the Chinese Maternity Hospital, studied at Convent Peel Road and the area around Pudu Market was my childhood neighbourhood. So much nostalgia watching your video. Sek Yuen was my grandpa’s favourite haunt. The old original restaurant site does Pei Pa Ngap/Crispy skin duck a rare delicacy. The newer outlets don’t have it. The old May King Lam Meen noodle shop on Jalan Yew under the overhead bridge is iconic. Uncle Lee, you should try Restoran Queens on the corner of Jalan Peel and Jalan Shelley. The Nasi Lemak and Suhairi Majid Satay stall are superb. Also try the Chen Chen Hongkong Goose Duck Chicken shop at the corner of Jalan Seladang and Lorong Yap Hin behind Jalan Pasar. Their roast goose is famous.
@@BigCat6612 yes car parking is a problem esp since the private carpark next to Wenworth Hotel is now a high rise hotel apartments. Just have to park further away in surrounding roads and walk.
I usually go to the May Keng at Sri Kembangan (close to South City Plaza) if I want a lam mee fix. More parking there compared to Pudu… it’s equally good compared to the Pudu branch.
One thing you had done correctly , unlike the rest who do food hunting , is that you had show the price of the food. Only in the last 4 year that I had tried food in Pudu even though I had first step into the Majestic theatre around 1970
At 21.00 they started chopping all the burnt bits out of the siew yok😢I thought that’s the best parts of the roast pork … but then I haven’t try before looks good 👍🏼
Burnt parts, like the black burnt parts that you find on satay meat, taste bitter & are cancer-causing. This is why they scrape off all the charred, burnt parts, leaving only the brown, roasted crispy pork skin for your enjoyment. This style of roasting is healthy, unlike those who roast their pork in aluminium foils due to lack of space in malls. Aluminium is a poison that can cross the blood-brain barrier and kill off your brain cells, causing Alzheimer's, dementia, memory-loss (I became suspicious when I suffered brain fog, memory loss, and had difficulty subtracting RM800 from RM1,400 and could not even remember a phone number that I want to write down on paper after memorising it from my phone, due to eating my favourite crispy roast pork week after week in an outlet in the Gardens, Mid Valley. Avoid eating food cooked & served in aluminium foils such as chicken glutinous rice (lor mai kai), beggar chicken, roasted fish, etc.
Sek Yuen is banned by me since 2018 when the uncle served spoilt soup (taste sour), I told the uncle but he denied it, but the other Sek Yuen helpers confirmed that it was spoilt. Sek Yuen is a NO go for me. The claypot rice on the other hand is my all time favourite, super niceeee ! The infamous "Datuk Siew Yoke" is over-hyped & overpriced. The roast pork standard in KL is very high, many small stores can easy match it.
Before covid, a huge question mark on food quality consistencies. Made a complaint on one of the signature dish, the uncle took away the dish and ignored us
Sorry to hear about your disappointing experience at Sek Yuen, their customer service is not excellent and many staff have worked there for decades, so it’s hard to change their attitude … but they must be doing something right to be able to survive 70+ years and expanded to 5 shop lots. Wish you have better dining experience elsewhere. 🙏
Agree with BigCat, Datuk Siew Yoke is really over priced but food, not up to expectation! After watching video, eagerly look for the shop the next day, but sooo disappointed, Siew yoke is ok but the char Siew is so dry n hard, like kept overnight d! 😢 Those shops sold near my house taste better!
Agree with you, the siew yoke is really overpriced and surprisingly so many ppl waiting in long queue. See in the video, they just hang the siew yoke outside the stove (most of the siew yoke touches the outer part of stove which is damn dirty and who knw what else) and scratching the siew yoke (hang of the door- how dirty is tht door-rat, cockroach, etc) with pieces of metal on the wall?? Luckily i boycott there already last time due to overprice, & only now i knw it's damn dirty. Old ppl maybe dont care hygiene so much, but his son is young -so shouldnt do like tht, perhaps earn too much $$$ till ignoring everything
You missed out Uncle Duck which is a Hong Kong run restaurant serving authentic Hong Kong style cantonese noodles and rice dishes. It's just the row of shops along Jalan Yew opposite Heun Yee claypot.
Actually there are few other shops that are good around that area.. and also May Keng lam mee, fish ball etc. Just too many good food around Pudu..foodie tourists will do well if they stay in hotels around Pudu..
Sek Yuen is a good choice - the old no AC restaurant. We will eat there whenever we are back in KL for a visit. The Sweet and Sour Ribs are really good. So is the duck. They used to make Hakka Taro Pork Belly. Not sure if they still make it. My parents always call ahead to preorder the 4 season appetizer - the old school wedding banquet dish for me since that’s my favorite and you can’t get it to taste the same way in the States. My favorite Clay pot chicken rice is the night stall across the street from Sek Yuen (right next to Maybank). The other commenter Jin Jin is right…check out Chen Chen roast goose at Jalan Seladang. Used to be good. So many good eats in Pudu
