    In this video bring back the glory of Rome to Constantinople in less than 50 years. Byzantium, also known as the Phoenix, starts off in a very precarious position in 1444, with a big bad Ottomans next door. There is a new way to come out of the ashes and become a great power in less than 50 years.
    NO EXPLOITS, MODS or BUGS were used in this video. This is a game of Europa Universalis IV on Ironman mode.

    Absolute Habibi always brings the family friendly content. This video is kind of like a lets play for europa universalis 4 byzantium but sped up and with commentary. This could be a good setup for basileus achievement. basileus eu4! basileus roanas. This is like an alternate history of europe byzantium where rome never fell (the empire). Byzantium in 1.30 is incredibly good start with the use of mercenaries. THE PHOENIX RISES - Byzantium Ashes to Great Power in less than 50 years

    IF you are wondering how I ruined this game, I took too much AE around 1590 and lost to a 30 nation coalition. AE was not just a number I guess.

      lol yeah not always.
      Trying to get Mary of Lotharingia before the original Mary died, while she took the throne almost immediately after game start, gave me too much AE to be able to finish it that early.
      I continued the campaign and got one after 1750.
      Even with how much dev you have by then, doing everything right, you're still exhausted from all these wars and then 20-50 years of 2-3 coalitions at the same time continuosly doesn't make for a fun game regardless if you make it or not. I stopped trying after the 2nd-3rd rotation of coalitions, was just too much mentally

      I was wondering. Did you try making good relations with Ottoman rivals in the beginning. In my game I managed to get Mamelucks, Aragorn and Austria to pay me gifts when fighting them. Got a few hundred gold, which helps quite a lot at that stage.

    I’ve done this strat before, and what I like to do is take every province in the Balkans except for Edirne so their capital doesn’t change and you get extra warscore from it until it’s the last thing in the Balkans to conquer

    • @andrpaulino
      @andrpaulino 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to leave a sea connection to the capital, otherwise it automatically changes to Anatolia. At least from what I've seen in my recent attempts

    • @SebHaarfagre
      @SebHaarfagre 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrpaulino I'm fairly certain that whichever city becomes the new capital after a forced relocation is entirely random.
      Besides that, Ottomans (along Russia and some others I think) gets event to freely relocate capital.
      As for CN's, it's the 5th (last) province you colonize (they may change it later).

    Although this is the easiest way to deal with the Ottoman, the Radio res strategy, which is based off of Budgetmunk i belive, i prefer the Budgetmunk strategy or closer to it, where you dont truce brake, you can get over 90% war score in the first war, take back all your core's and clear all debt or close to it, the fewer mercs you can do this with the better, and then you ally Albania and Candar, Ottoman usually attakcs one of them next, you get called in, and you peace out with a good amount of war score before the war leader does so. Thats probably the most optimal start, but prepare for plenty of restarts. I enjoyed the video tho :)

    • @Orrrie
      @Orrrie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that's the difference I guess. This strategy is supposed to work everytime without restarts. It might not be the most optimal, but it doesn"t rely on specific conditions.

    • @JanXXVI
      @JanXXVI 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Orrrie Looked at the newest Byzantium quide as BudgetMonk, and it is pretty solid, i think it's the newest atleast, he has several for each patch. I only hired 1 merc, think i had 17 units, you attack Epirus first, take your core and vassalise them, so that you get their navy to help, ally albania and the knights. Get their troops to attach to yours, asap as soon as you snatch Selanik and Kocaeli, the one ottoman army seems to want to go after your 6 unit army, so ferry it to safty after you take Kocaeli, the Ottoman armies split, and with skenderberg i attacked the on besiegeing Constantinople and stackwiped it, went for AQ next, i had improved relations with Karaman and Dulkadir and Egypt, so i could surround AQ and white peace them, this is where i was unlucky, cause Karaman allied Ottomans while my army passed through their land, and they got black flagged, i wasent able to get military access straight after, so instead i did some fast carpet siegeing, got 1 unit on each of his anatolian forts, and straight out attack the other army and broke it, i retreated into Bulgaria so i followed and kept hammering it, this way the Ottoman army broke and had to recruit new troops, meanwhile i besiged Gallipoli, managed to take it, and placed one unit on Edirne while i attack AQ troops and Ottoman units that was not heavily concentrated, managed to stall their Siege on Kocaeli enough and got to 92% warscore when i peaced out, with over 800 ducats, and all my cores, still i had 5 loans since you have to share some with the alliies, but this was a first try, no restart, you don't get the excessive AE and you only have 5 small loans to pay, the fleet combat was easy, Ottomans had no chance att sea.
      Next i got releations up with Dulkadir, and waited til Ottomans attacked them, released Bulgaria as a vassal, then i allied them and went straight on the offensive, took their forts and occupied pretty much all their lands, even Egypt went in on the war. I peaced out with about 60 warscore, could probably have gotten it higher, just didnt want Dulkadir to peace out first, and got Ottomans to give Bulgaria back all but one province, and a bit of money, since its core's aswell you dont get all that much AE Ottomans are basicly destroyed now.

      @@JanXXVI noticed with this tactic that Venice will almost always attack you after the first ottoman war if they are rivaled to you so you can bank of Venice them and take some islands they have

    • @JanXXVI
      @JanXXVI 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rpan1738 They can, but if you improve releations with Hungary while fighting the Ottomans, you will be able to get their alliance soon or straight after the war, i also tend to ally Austria and Muscowy once i can get them, then no one will attack you. Reason for not wanting a venice war straight after Ottoman war, is that you want to fight the Ottomans again pretty soon after, by allying Candar. So grab the Hungary alliance, that should make you safe, and you can hold of on allying Candar unthil after the Ottomans attack them, this will make it more likely that they will be attacked by Ottomans next, just have the releations high enough for an alliance, since you want to ally them as soon as Ottomans declear war on them, that way you can snag the Ottoman fort at Kocaeli and their capital once you get called in, dont forget to release Bulgaria before joining the war, and have your vassals attach to your armies, and take strong duchies for the +2 diplo releations if you havent already taken it. After the war you get Austria and Muscowy, and you ditch Candar and the Knights, so then you'll have 3 alliances and 3 vassals. If Austria wants land from Venice, then attack venice next and call in Austria with the promise of land, used to be able to promise Hungary land but dont think you can anymore unless their vassal croatia's claims count. Anyway, if you can't call in Austira, it's just a matter of having strong enough navy, buy a navy doctrine that gives +15 galley combat ability and get that +10% navy morale advisor, yes use Galley's instead of light ships as Budgetmonk suggested. You don't have to loose a single fort in that first Ottoman war, so then the need for a 20 ship navy is no longer necessary. Don't worry about going of the navy limit, you'll crush venice att sea, and your armies with your vassals will beat Venice.
      Otherwise Naples is a good war target after the second Ottoman war, Aragorn usually looses the PU, and i belive you get claims on them, after having secured Bulgaria. Could also be vital to go for them fast, since France can ally them.

    Hey there Habibi :)
    The AI "sends small stacks" when they conform to an army template, I think.
    The reason this is rarely seen is because they usually hire mercs instead of building own troops near the end of your wars with them.
    Your armies will do the same, and the same thing happens with navies (I think this is what happens when you win like 10 naval battles in a row sometimes with 1 boat dead each time; either this or they're reforming to a mission I think)

    In the 1st war I menaged to stack wipe ottoman's whole army :D, I placed my army between selanik and galibolu and then they just walked into me one by one , I had 4/4 general with 110% discipline and that was mountain province so I was incredibly lucky :DDD

    • @roathrobin

      Costs too much diplo for the early game, as well as warscore. It also helps to release them yourself because they have cores you can retake from the Ottomans later

    • @SebHaarfagre
      @SebHaarfagre 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@roathrobin Exactly. It's not even a liberation CB so it will be 150% more expensive... both in mana and warscore. You should absolutely _not_ waste mana on releasing Bulgaria.
      What you CAN do, is take one single of their cores, release vassal or return province then vassalize, and do a reconquest.
      Bulgaria gets a few missions that may compliment Byzantium's, but I haven't played much down there.
