A friend of mine told me that recently after independence of Estonia in the 1990s that he and some mates attended a kind of hip hop dancing competition in Sillamäe. They ended up exploring some abandoned buildings and found a room filled with these medkits. One of the guys showed them which elements to use to get high and they stole the whole lot for later use. Those were the Wild West nineties days.

I love stumbling on channels like this that have top tier production quality depsite the low sub count. I hope Strelok and Artyom weren't tripping too hard after how many times I've had to use them
I wrote a school paper on Soviet and Post Soviet medical supplies, this was super informative and I wish I had access to this video when I was writing it. Would have loved to use this for sources.
With Stalker and Metro introducing me to the flip open instant heal goodness i was always curious to see what these kits actually where. Nice Video, and very good explanations!
Just ran across this video, and its really informative. I was actually under the impression that these sort of med-kit injectors were "videogame magic". Issuing everyone injection kits and assorted medications just seemed like a recipe for drug abuse. Like the old Morphine Syrettes from the world war two. Your knowledge is quite impressive and thank you for sharing it!
Absolutely love your stuff, Iskra. Just your first video made you one of my favorite channels. Well produced and informative. Also, I was wondering what the beige jacket and this current camo one you wear are called, they look great. Thank you for the content and keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for the feedback! The beige coat doesn't really have a name, it is just a generic Soviet raincoat, possibly of naval origin. The camo suit you are referring to is called KZS, it was originally produced for CBRN purposes, but it was loved and generally adopted as a simple and comfortable kind of camo overalls. The pattern is called "Berezka".
As a huge Stalker and Metro fan, this is an excellent Video since i have no clue wtf I'm injecting every 5 second in a gunfight Also that Freedom Radio is spot on BGM lmao
I've been seeing these things in video games since I was too young to be watching metro 2033 gameplay. Great video! Thanks for putting this information out there.
Awesome video! Ever since I played STALKER, I was wondering if the medkits in those games were AI inspired, and STALKER modders seem to think the same :P Anyway, would be awesome to have an empty one (even without the subpackaging inside) for cosplay purposes... Could be hard to get now though, so I guess I'll just 3D print one instead...
They are incredibly cheap and easy to transport. I would look for some on eBay or elsewhere, I am sure it still not that hard to get one. It's not a 6B45 armor vest after all)
Thanks for the new video! Glad to see that the channel is growing and keeping true to it's main themes. Also a question: where would be the best place to find old Soviet gas masks? I have a GP-5 but would like to find a ShM-1 of at least a breathing tube for aesthetic purposes. Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback! Soviet gasmasks do go around outside of Russia, but the prices bite sometimes. I would suggest looking for them on eBay and such. Sometimes local military surplus stores in the US sell them. It generally depends on where you are from.
@@ProjectSparkPC Thank you for your awnser! I purchased the GP-5 in Russia recently, if I go back I will definitely find some more. I know it is possible to find some soviet-like gas masks online here in China but most of them are expensive or Chinese remakes of inferior quality. Thanks again!
Recently picked up a soviet medical satchel as a display piece. Seller said that everything was inside, and I assumed that the meant that ordinary medical tools were inside. After I received it, it was filled with 8 AI-2s 7 of them were complete, including the Taran - the substances are still inside
I recall also that the radio protectant number 1 was to be taken with milk, which had to come from an uncontaminated source, which negated the impact, if any, of cystamine. Though I may have that mixed up with another item in the kit, I haven't read the manual in years
I remember watching Super SuS roll around in a pile of these lol. Edit: 4:01 Wow okay, I see we have common interests. Didn't expect to see that clip 😂
Very interesting. Came to look for information about this orange soviet miracle, after seeing video of a Russian soldier trying to treat drone munition shrapnel wounds with AI-2.
Indeed very interesting, where do you think he got his hands on one? They are not issued anywhere. Maybe he was using it as a case for something functional like promedol or nefopam? Or perhaps it was some sort of a modern modification, but those are also not used that much... UPD: Actually just remembered that there is a Medplant produced ampule container that looks exactly like one, especially from a distance. Likely that was it.
@ProjectSparkPC He was looking for painkiller. It appeared they had no bandages. Someone in comments said it was AI-2 and color seems same. Hard to say.
@@ProjectSparkPC Ok. Probably that. Injured man was complaining that his whole back is bleeding and they didn't have proper medkits. Shouldn't send illequipped soldiers into battle.
The US Army did have a similar system, not for civil defense but for issue in environments where chemical agents may be used. in 1981 they started issuing the Mark 1 NAAK, the Nerve Agent Antidote kit containing Atropine and pralidoxime chloride. In the included kit they also included an IM midazolam injector. The hilarious thing about all of these kits is that atropine has a half life of 30-60 minutes. And there's no way you'd be carrying more than a single kit on the battlefield. It would take hours upon hours to even set up proper chemical decontamination centers at a company level so you'd definitely be dead from sarin exposure long before you were actually decontaminated.
In the STALKER Inventory they seem always soo huge especially in Shadow Of Chernobyl but in reallity they are much smaller, in the SoC Inventory the Medkit looks like at least four times bigger than in reallity
Damn so in stalker and metro they are wasting so much medicine just using the pain reliever. I do have to say this is a really effect way to package a medkit, Soviet tech is so fascinating, some of the stuff I own is Soviet and they work so well even now. For a dictatorship they knew how to build good shit
Sure thing, but I couldn't possibly give enough attention to all gasmasks in one video, besides, my collection is expanding. I am planning to make more videos on gasmasks one by one. I can make a short overview of my collection at its current state, if that's what viewers will ask for.
Loved the video, in metro 2033 the medkit only had syringes. Also if i had to recommend an idea it would be the uniforms of soldiers'. Where do they come from, what inspired them...
MM-1 is actually a face piece rather than a whole gas mask. It’s pretty rare too. I will no doubt eventually get my hands on one and film some content with it. But for now, I am working on some pretty cool stuff as well.
I couldn't hear what the name of that updated cheese block med kit was called through the THICCC slav accent. What was it called and where can I get one?
Well, the thing is that needles filled with actual promedol are universally illegal if not empty. What I have is a training needle which is filled with saline or plasma or something like that. I do not remember where it came from but you could try looking some up on eBay. They are pretty rare as far as I know. Good luck with your search!
So tetracycline is in the medkit. It's embarrassing that some survival games act like you need some other antibiotic than this to treat a bacterial infection.
Its more about the artificial orange color and the square packaging of western pre-sliced cheese that made it similar, Soviet Union had many types of cheese xD
