I have one of these in 'gold' (PVD plating, of course) with a white/off-white dial. I really like the dimensions/profile of the watch - which sits perfectly on my 7 1/4 inch wrist. However, I was a bit surprised to find that upon opening the case-back, the movement was stamped as Citizen!! After a bit of research, I discovered that these Seiko SQ ultra-slim watches actually originate from India. There are many variations in terms of colour (dial and case). For all this, however, they are still nice looking watches, particularly given their very low price-point.
Hi Norman, this is unfortunately not an original Seiko. If it were, it would at least have a movement- and case number, stamped on the back like xxxx-xxxx, and a serial number that is not eight digits :) Seiko used the SQ logo in the 70's and 80's, and a look in the catalogs shows that the watch did not exist then; the quartz movement would have to be from that time as well. But you can already tell by the poorly made logo and the missing inscription at 6 o'clock the fantasy dial. This is unfortunately an Indian Feiko, which can be found in large numbers at Internet dealers. Know this and wear it for fun, nevertheless - or you might wanna take a Seiko SWR052 instead. Real Deal☺️ And never let that music stop!
These are a great affordable option - but know that mine turned out to be frankenwatches. - but for $20... they're a great introduction into tank dress watches
Seiko makes some killer tank watches. I got a HAQ Seiko Dolce in a stepped rectangular case made from tungsten carbide! Only paid 140 USD for it, just incredible value for money

I got one of these for myself and the texture was tilted really bad. So I opened it and to my surprise the movement has Seiko engraved in it. But the bad Printing, in my case the tilted, just printed texture, and im sorry to say that,but Norman, your Black watch has the SQ misaligned on the dial and the fact that I found some HMT watches with, as it seems ,exactly the same case speak against a real Seiko, I think.... Couldnt find any further Info on the Internet. who knows more?
Good morning Norman. Seiko have done some great tank style dress watches, most especially in the 80's. I am sitting here staring at a Lassale that is incredibly thin, and more or less immaculate. Trouble is however, it just seems far too delicate to wear. Watch angst is a disease my friend.

Hi there. I do know that a lot of franken Seiko, Orient, and even some Ricoh, come out of India.
Ugh. Terrible. Oh I hadn't even noticed the misaligned SQ, I'll have to take a closer look at it. Yyeah definitely possible they're franken.
