I mostly just play in school cause I do t have time for tourneys. So I dont mind that these cards will go out of standard ( we still play unstable lol)
Pre ordered all four for $80. I use lower powered decks when my nephews come over to play. Good balanced fun, and I'm not too worried about "value". Most of it tanks once the sets rotate anyways.
I think they know if you hand them out for casual players offline they will be left with no friends and nobody wants to play with them ever again after a while of "Monoblue Duck & Cover".

I was wondering, I would like to play magic but "casually" against my brother or friend without spending hours of deck building. Are those challenger decks balanced against each other ? and are challenger decks from past years balanced against those in 2019 ?
I haven't had a chance to play with them yet myself but for the most parts the decks look like they would hold their own against each other and the ones from the prior year. The one exception might be the new Golgari deck which does seem to have some issues but you could upgrade it if you wanted to.
I added an annotation. WotC originally had posted that the deck would have three copies of Summery Judgement but then they updated the article to reflect three copies of Pride of the Conquers instead.
Why give us two aggro decks and no control deck? All this controversy would be nonexistent if they printed a control deck with Teferi and nexus instead of the white weenie.
I think the problem this time vs the last set of decks, is that there is no cheap win con for budget control right now. You can't just be like here have some board wipes, and a few approach of the second suns and be on your way. Gates might have been the only real option, and that has a rather large barrier for entry.
I really feel this is another slap to the face from wizards, look at all the other high priced cards in standard that could fit so great into these decks. Thanks again wizards another lame attempt to pretend you care about making cards available and affordable to the players. How much money did wizards just whiff on by not putting Teferi in a pre-con?$$??
Not great enough. For a product advertised as a ready made std deck. This fall short of playable. Unless your fnm is very very small and full of new players. Skip this and wait for prices to tank a little.

No competent control player will lose unlesa they ger unlucky. Again if you want a casual expirience go for it, or maybe just wait till the prices tank and get them a little cheaper.
These decks most definitely are not competitive. Wizards set the bar high with the first Challenger decks and these value wise suck. Seriously, one Overgrown Towb? No Steam Vents? I bought several of the last Challenger decks and gave them to friends to get back into Magic. Hard pass on these.

I actually like a lot the mono white one, seems like the kind of deck I'd enjoy playing.

I don't care about value. Those deck are for new players who want to play at FNM and not get kill. They are much more playable. At local FNM

So they did take the prevalent decks on Arena, simplified it and sell it as Challengers. Not that Im complaining haha!

Weird that these were designed during protour guilds of ravnica and has 2 copies of an allegiance common instant in that white deck.
You know they're doing something dank when in the white weenie deck, 4 cards pay for more than the deck
They seem alright but only releasing 4 at a time kinda kills variety. Maybe 6-8 with more color variety would work better

The biggest obstacle is printing money cards because they need arc light phoenixes and teferis for super masters in 3 years
