  • Meet Kelly, she has a thyroid nodule who we have monitoring for years and she was not aware of it symptoms as gradually over time it had grow and she was learning to live with it. After we recommend to treating it, she clearly feels the difference now. She had a 80% reduction in nodule volume size in just 19 weeks and realizes on how bothersome the nodule was to begin with.

      Besides the 7.1 cm is large, although we need the three-dimensional measurement which is height with and length which then makes volume. When you have such a large nodule to get successful reduction of size, you may need more than one RFA.

    I too have a nozzle that is 4.3 cm. The biopsy has come back inconclusive. I have zero problems from the nodule. No coughing, difficulty swallowing etc.And zero family history. Would I be considered a candidate for RFA? Otherwise I am very healthy. Thank you

      I would recommend you to have a repeat biopsy as you need a conclusive diagnosis of benign nodule. If the Nigel is suspicious that I would recommend two biopsies. Once you have obtained the separation and yes I would recommend Thyroid RFA patient before it becomes compressor because the nodule is already large. If you wait for the nozzle to become larger it will start to compress against your trachea and your vital structure and your vocal cords. Nodules that are larger show less reduction versus nodules that are smaller

      @@Pezhman101 I sent my records to Dr Kuo and Dr Andrade here on the east coast and both suggested surgery 😑I go in tomorrow morning and am hoping and praying it’s just a PT.

    Is this appropriate for nodules with peripheral vascularity?

    Hello, I'm really scared. My mother never experienced any kind of pain or complications and no bumps in thyroid. Recently we did her tsh test which came out to be low (2.34) but her FT3 and FT4 are normal. But she has high anti tpo antibodies (1000).
    So doctor suggested usg of thyroid, the results came in yesterday. Both her thyroid lobes contains multiple small hypoechoic nodules, max sized nodule is 2.2×2.8 mm.
    Everything else is normal (size of thyroid, no calcifications etc.)
    Is biopsy necessary for this?

      Your case description sounds like possibly subclinical Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. The positive thyroid antibodies indicate an active auto immune process, causing damage to the thyroid tissue the nodules that were found on the thyroid, ultrasound or incidental, and very small and therefore biopsy is not recommended just based on those size measurements I would encourage you to ask the radiologist to give those knowledge a TIRAD score. The scoring system allows to understand the characteristics of the nodule. Size is one component and based on the size that you give at 2 to 3 mm I don’t think a biopsies recommended although I would recommend repeating the autosound somewhere between six months to one year. Meanwhile, you need to follow your mother‘s TSH value and you want to keep the TSH less than 3. Also, I would encourage your mom to start taking a supplement known as a selenium at 200 MCG a day. Talk to your doctor to make sure there are no contraindications regarding this recommendation.

    I am diagnosed with micro papallery thyroid carcinoma will RFA be a good to treat such cancer? Actually in India if it is cancer surgery is the 1st option.

      Radio frequency ablation can be a viable option if your tumor is 1 cm or less or larger as long are clear margins. One via late thyroid, tumors, specifically, papillary thyroid cancers we need to blade the margin of the tumor to ensure eradication. Therefore, the margin cannot be attached to vital structures. If it is close to a viable structure we will then use a technique called Hydro dissection to lift the tumor away from the structures temporarily while we ablate the margins.

      @@Pezhman101 Thank-you so much for answering me it means a lot as I was totally confused between RFA and surgery. The nodule is 9×7mm on the junction of left thyroid and isthmus.

    One of mine is 6.6 cm.

    • @Pezhman101
      @Pezhman101  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One dimensional size does not tell the whole story. The thyroid nodule is a three-dimensional structure and when calculated yields of volume. A 6.6 cm is a large length dimension when we talk about our knowledge we always like to talk about volume instead of just centimeters
