  • We are loading up two different loads in the all time favorite steel shot hull. That's right, the Remington 3" straight wall hull. It's the same as the 2 3/4" hull only it is 1/4" longer so you can do more with it. We hope you enjoy this installment of Hull of the Week. Please like, subscribe, and hit that bell notification so you will know each time a video is uploaded.

Lil gun powder will get you higher velocities with lower pressures than steel powder, but the downside is you have to use more of it. It’ll do a 1 ounce steel shot load in 3” 20 gauge at 1450 fps at just over 10,000 psi.

I have looked at Lil Gun but I have a lot of other powders on hand already. That 571 powder is a 12 pound drum. I was mainly loading here for payload instead of super high velocity. 1400 is a sweet spot in my brain when shooting for my leads on birds.

I run a Hornady lock and load and its great with steel powder but it’s suck with long shot unless you run it on slow then it only throws an over charge one out of ten times.

These have a yellow basewad. They are the .200 hull mentioned in the Lyman 5th edition manual
