One of our fave shows of all time. My wife and I grew up watching this from dating through marriage, and it is one of those shows we can rewatch again and again.

Carrie is asked out on a date by a police officer (Daniel Roebuck) who pulled her over the previous day (she was wearing gloves and therefore the police officer could not see her ring). After getting some advice from Richie, Doug gets Carrie to go on a date with him so he will not testify against her.
Imagine being married to an amazing, gorgeous woman and sending her on dates with other men. 🤦♂
It's a shame so many of the best lines are cut out of these clips, if they'd ended it 5 seconds later we would've got Doug's: "Here I am eating ravioli he paid for, you think that's easy for me?"

This is the stupid Ray Romano humor formula that he must have gotten a laugh with once. Its scattered throughout this series that he is unfortunately connected with. He's in two episodes that are all but unbearable to watch.

All the main actors are from NY (except Spence). Funny is they filmed this in California. I always thought Richie's accent is supposed to be Italian.

@@pflaffik his show got cancelled after 1 season. I guess they didn't bring him back, because a ton of other side characters had already been added to the show (Danny, Holly, Lou, ...). They also silently wrote out Doug's sister after just one season. But she was not anybody, but longtime famous talkshow master Ricky Lake.
What if Carrie Heffernan said to her husband Doug, "😡😡😡OLD CARRIE!!!!!😡😡😡IS GONE!!!!!!😡😡😡" While getting ready to go on a date with another guy at the restaurant?

It’s a sitcom. Like most sitcom it exaggerates situations. Plus, you have to have a sense of humor.
Jesse Bacon no. u dont understand: there is ZERO love. A sitcom man character can be funny AND caring. But him there's nothing. He shows nothing. No heart. It's like she's an object to him. I cant explain it. As for her: she's always condescending.
Jesse Bacon ray romano has heart and funny. Uncle phil had heart and fun. Mr sheffield has heart and fun. This dude repulses me. But in interviews he seems sweet. I just think the writers are idiots.

Well, if Doug arrived at the restaurant while his wife Carrie is dating another cop, and if he said 'Hey!' to his wife Carrie and the cop while they are dating. They would ignore Doug, and his wife Carrie would say to her husband Doug, "I am NOT speaking to you!!!!!" This would bother Doug, and make him very sad.
Back when carrie's eyebrows weren't painted on and her face didn't seem bloated like she drank too much, also her skin tone is more natural compared to later seasons.... damn 00s' beauty standards were kinda bad
