Thanks for this one. I've had a 21 and now a 24 SR Versa and an 11 Altima Coupe 2.5 before that with CVT. No particular problems with mine. When I first knew I was getting a CVT in 11, I learned about them and approached it as playing a slightly different instrument. My hope was that treating it differently and not expecting it to behave the same helps in its performance and longevity. Over a decade later I really don't miss standard AT and I am in too much stop and go to deal with a clutch. Some days yes, others it'd be a drag.

I appreciate your videos. I've always been a car person myself. Ive owned a 97 nissan 240 since 1998 and ive owned a manual since 2003. I grew up driving both manuals and autos and im not sure when I started driving but it was grade school. By the time I was 12 I had driven everything you can imagine including a manual 74 corvette. My favorite car would have to be the 70s transam. My father had 3 of them. I also loved driving the old ford 3 speed columns in inline 6.

I don't understand why they put a 5spd instead of a 6spd manual, same with the last Subaru Impreza. Why put a 5spd when a 6 is available & used in the Crosstrek which is basically the same car. Even if it just drops 500 rpms, it would be better with fuel economy. Thanks for these reviews, they are really helping me make a decision on what I should get. Right now it's between the Versa manual and civic hatch manual.

Those are the same two I'm considering. Which makes sense, since they're pretty much the only two still available in manual for an economic price. Love the civic, but nearly twice as much is hard to justify. Also hate the electronic parking brake in the civic.

WOW, 80 mph and barely over 2000 rpm. I have seen them on FB with the CVT and plenty have hit the 100,000-mile mark with original transmission.

Isn't this a reason why the manual should've had that extra, sixth gear? I know the argument against is that the car wouldn't have enough high end power or whatever to move it well enough in sixth but this same engine with the cvt seems to do just fine at lower revs and higher speeds.
I've had rental Versas like this btw and it makes for a great rental car. Super easy to drive with the cvt. I still prefer the manual all day tho.

I think it's to keep the car to a price point.

I had an 1989 dodge colt back in the 90s. It was a manual and was a great little car!

I bought a 24 Versa S with the CVT in early January to replace a Hyundai Accent HB that was totaled when I was rear-ended in December. I would've preferred the manual, but it was either buy one with a CVT, or carpool with my wife to work for a month until a manual was anywhere within 200 miles of me. The car ticks all the boxes for me as a commuter vehicle. I may trade it in for a 2025 next year in hopes of getting a manual transmission, especially if it is in fact the last year Nissan makes the Versa.

I heard that rumor too, but I think they will keep making it

Wow. Such a difference in those RPMs. That is the only part I like about the CVT. I hope the rental company has serviced the CVT in this one! How did it feel wi5h almost 50k miles?

I saw the weirdest thing. A 2021 Versa manual with push button start only. I wonder if it suffers from the power loss problem? 22,000 miles on it compared to 8,000 on my 2022 Versa S with the CVT. I'm tempted to trade. What should i do? 🤔

2020 and 2021 have push to start and do not have the power loss issue.
