Also Just going to say that watching your videos has massively improved my game, I can actually give a decent match against chess AIs which a couple of years ago Utterly demolished me due to my lack of mid game ability, and also to note that I have been fairing better against friends now too. Keep up the great videos man!
At 9:40 right before Aronian's blunder you said there were a lot of moves he could play, but then only listed one. I tried to find other moves with an engine's help but the only other that wasn't losing heavily was Rhf7. What other moves could Aronian have played there?
Please help me out here, I think I missed something: At 10:41 after knight moves to e8 - why is capturing the queen on e5 with blacks queen on c7 not an option to uncheck?
What a Play by Big Vlad! Gotta love his attitude, he still thinks he can win the Candidates. Reminds me a bit of Bobby Fischer 😀 P.s. Aronian only had 20 seconds when he made the move
At 7:30 for some weird reason you show the rook sacrifice as the planned continuation. But why? Does the movement of king to h1 mean that much to give your piece away for it? Might as well just promote the pawn straight out ... or is there something I am missing?
v1asec And at 7:17 he said, you can't capture the knight 'cause otherwise rook captures queen, when actually you are mating on f7 with rook takes pawn :/
If you immediately promote the pawn to a queen after Nxb6 then 31. Rf1 simply blocks it. If 30. ... Ra1 and 31. Kh2, promoting the pawn to a Queen is possible but if you promote it without a check tempo then white will instead have 32. Rxe6 checking the black king than a dead white rook on d6. These are some of the possible continuations 32. ... Kd8 is simply a checkmate in 1 by 33. Qb8 This could also happen: 32. ... Kf8 33. Rxe8 Kxe8 and after 34. Qg8 then Ke7 is forced and after 35. Qxf7 white is just winning Another possible continuation would be 32. ... fxe6 but 33. Qc7+ is coming. If somehow 33. ... Kf8 then 34. Nd7 leads to a lot of draws And the last one I'm considering (which has lots of variations) is 32. ... fxe6 33. Qc7+ Kf6 34. Nd7+ and if somehow black captures the knight with the queen then white will just be up a queen again. Any other move than Kg7 leads to either a mate in 5 or less so 34. ... Kg7 is forced 35. Qe5+ and Kg6 or Kf7 leads to a mate in 7 or 6. If 35. ... Kg8 then 36. Bxe6+ and rook captures queen captures and white is simply winning here with the black King being too open to checks. The only move for black other than Kg8 on move 35 is Kh7 and after that 36. Nf6+ and both Kh8 and Kg7 leads to a forced mate so the only move for black is 36. ... Kg6 and there can be no more checks after that but you'd lose the rook on 37. Nxe7. It would be really hard for black to escape all of those checks and even if black did, the material would be pretty equal with white having a Queen, a bishop, and a knight for black's Queen and a rook. Sorry for the long reply.
Can you please one day look back at Meadow and tell her/him, "hey, keep it down back there". It would be great to see you give her some recognition. :)
# Suggestion # please put openings name in title so if anyone wants to study a specific opening he or she can directly go to the video. You are doing great service for chess. Great work keep it up love from pakistan
Good questio! I think after Ra2, White could simply take Nxf7 with the idea of Rxh6 mate. If Bxf7 then Rxf7+, Kh8 nad Qg7 mate. But it still wouldnt mean that there is no defense against Bc2, its just another threat. I could be wrong though
Kramnik, strapping pirate, the wind in his sails, smashes former favorite with authority. Avast, sailors! See ya around, landlubbers! Captain Kramnik has all the moves!
Maybe someone else already pointed this out, but at 7'20'', if the Bishop takes the Knight on d7, there is not Rook capturing Queen, allowing Black to Queen with check, but of course Rxf7 check mate!
Svalfish1 I think it isnt necessary, but the idea is to exchange the rooks (and thus weaken whites attack possibilities). if you just promote to queen (after white king moves to h2), white could possibly continue his attack, as the promotion wouldnt come with a check.
On the move after Nd7+ (forking king and queen), you can't capture the knight not because the bishop is pinned to the queen, but because Rxf# is checkmate
How about around 8:05 b3 bishop takes bishop, rook recaptures then rook f6 takes pawn, king moves, then queen to f8 checkmate, or if queen recaptures then rook takes queen, rook takes rook, knight to d7 giving... Or something like that
There is a friendly game on TH-cam between former world champions Kramnik, Karpov and Anand and Young Russians GM which looks very cool you should do it
Queue the dog! lol. Always seems to go a little nuts at the beginning of the videos but makes your channel unique. I appreciate your analysis. Keep up the good work.
In my opinion in this 9 min the best move was to capture knight by the rook from f8 to f6, white queen should then recapture rook and check but black king is safe in h7 and allows to dangerous check by the black queen on e3.
Dear Agadmator, Despite you being my favorite TH-cam Channel, your dog is my favorite person on the planet. Please add and give a little bio on him or her. Perhaps you already did in other films but I have not seen it yet. If you did can you please do it again I need to know more. I speak for all of us.. can we at least have the name.
It might still be losing for black but it can't force a checkmate at all. Exchange queens. The threat of a rook capture to try and continue the attack doesn't leave a checkmate option anymore because now you can move the king instead of blocking with the bishop.
ur doggy seemed to be possesed for a little while in the beginning
dude check his other videos. his dog goes crazy for several minutes in almost all of them
possesed by Tal
It sleeps most of the time but must have strange dreams.
Albo Medo reacting to his sacrifices
dog is jealous he also want some attention
7:17 _"You can't capture the knight -- Otherwise rook captures on b6."_
Otherwise rook captures on f7, checkmate m8.
So it doesn’t seem like anything crazy is going to happen this game BUT Kramnik castles. :D
Thats epic
Kramnik definitely deserved "WILD card" with this WILD style.
Also, in the end, if Queen captures queen, then Rook captures on f8 with #.
Rxf8 is not checkmate. the bishop blocks and then Rxg8 is checkmate
I agree, I wanted to see the Queen exchange scenario, must of been something I missed.
Thank you, this was definitely missing from the explanation, and although Ali Kashmar is correct you made the point!
That's what I was wondering the whole time. He shouldn't have skipped that.
I assumed the crazy thing was playing the Giuoco Piano.
I love how your dog is always playing at the background
Medo seemed especially enthusiastic about the Kramnik game.
#suggestion could you cover the game between Napoleon and General Bertrand?
Also Just going to say that watching your videos has massively improved my game, I can actually give a decent match against chess AIs which a couple of years ago Utterly demolished me due to my lack of mid game ability, and also to note that I have been fairing better against friends now too. 1:28 your dog went crazy for a while!!!
Your dog went crazy 1:27 :D sometimes i just watch him and forget to listen to you.. :P
6:50, i think when Black Kh7 and white pawn c4, Black Pawn should go to d1 and check(become Queen) . After Bxd1, then Ra1 and Bishop locked
Aronian was extremely low on time even less than a minute on clock.
Nice game.
Thanks agadmator.
#suggestion can u cover the game between Nakamura and Caruana from the 2016 London chess classic. It has a very beautiful Queen sacrifice by Caruana.
I admire Antonio's stoicism . Whatever his dog does behind him , he NEVER turns around to figure out ...
What do you give Medo before the broadcasts? Red hot chilli sauce?
Damn even after 5 years this feels incredible.. Kramnik was ruthless here
Oh joy, my fav opening as White. I like Italian game, it can develop in many ways, depending how you like to play.
Probably already mentioned, but at ~7:20 mark you say bishop can't capture knight on d7 b/c rook captures queen. However, isn't Rxf7# there?
At 8:10, what about Knight to G7 check, followed by Knight to F4 check, then Knight eats bishop E6?
Your dog is always a superstar of the every game you represent like on 1:30
Awesome channel❤
By the way, does your dog always do that?😅
When will you post Champions vs. Talents game you promised?
I always liked Kramnik as a person and as a player. And now I like him more than ever! Go go captain Vlad!
Crazy game by kramnik and movement by medo haha
@10:42 what if black qeen captures white queen at e5?
At 9:40 right before Aronian's blunder you said there were a lot of moves he could play, but then only listed one. I tried to find other moves with an engine's help but the only other that wasn't losing heavily was Rhf7. What other moves could Aronian have played there?
Please help me out here, I think I missed something:
At 10:41 after knight moves to e8 - why is capturing the queen on e5 with blacks queen on c7 not an option to uncheck?
Rxf8+ Bg8 only defense and Rxg8#
Aronian only had around 50 seconds left when he played 36. ...Qc7?? whereas Kramnik still had 4 minutes or so
What a Play by Big Vlad! Gotta love his attitude, he still thinks he can win the Candidates. Reminds me a bit of Bobby Fischer 😀
P.s. Aronian only had 20 seconds when he made the move
@6:20; what's wrong with White playing Qe2
That’s the ol’ Kramik genius. Your dog is hilarious.
That is a wonderful analysis 🎉
at 5:28 can't you capture the bishop and win the knight with the rook?
Thanq Antonio ~
Great game by Kramnik!
I just watch the game, not his analysis
If you immediately promote the pawn to a queen after Nxb6 then 31. Rf1 simply blocks it.
If 30. ... Ra1 and 31. Kh2, promoting the pawn to a Queen is possible but if you promote it without a check tempo then white will instead have 32. Rxe6 checking the black king than a dead white rook on d6.
These are some of the possible continuations
32. ... Kd8 is simply a checkmate in 1 by 33. Qb8
This could also happen:
32. ... Kf8 33. Rxe8 Kxe8 and after 34. Qg8 then Ke7 is forced and after 35. Qxf7 white is just winning
Another possible continuation would be
32. ... fxe6 but 33. Qc7+ is coming. If somehow 33. ... Kf8 then 34. Nd7 leads to a lot of draws
And the last one I'm considering (which has lots of variations) is
The whole analysis of Nd7 is incorrect. This would be losing for white. Rf1, the game continuation seems strongest to me.
stronger than Rh1+ is d1=Q threatening mate. Black is up massive material with mating threats.
Can you please one day look back at Meadow and tell her/him, "hey, keep it down back there". It would be great to see you give her some recognition. :)
7:28 - Why not directly d1 Queen is not possible? Why rook to A1 is needed and the rook to h1 ? Why these are necessary?
Eltac Babanlı That's what I was going to ask
Rook to a1 is necessary before promoting the pawn because if you just straight up promote the pawn then white defends with Rf1.
i totally missed first minute of the video, watching your dog.
# Suggestion # please put openings name in title so if anyone wants to study a specific opening he or she can directly go to the video. You are doing great service for chess. Great work keep it up love from pakistan
6:55
You said that wasn't any defenece against B:c2. What if Black R:a2 protecting c2? If white takes the rock, Black will make 2nd queen with check.
Good questio! I think after Ra2, White could simply take Nxf7 with the idea of Rxh6 mate. If Bxf7 then Rxf7+, Kh8 nad Qg7 mate.
But it still wouldnt mean that there is no defense against Bc2, its just another threat. I could be wrong though
anybody who can explain the variation he shows with the horse fork, why the rook check and sacrifice and not immediate promotion to queen?
Actually sir I was waiting online on TH-cam for your analysis only
Wow thats how chess should be played....kudos to both of them👏👏
Happy to see Medo again.
Why is Kramnik a post-game interview legend? Id like to be a part of this inside joke
No photos??
Kramnik, strapping pirate, the wind in his sails, smashes former favorite with authority. Avast, sailors! See ya around, landlubbers! Captain Kramnik has all the moves!
Maybe someone else already pointed this out, but at 7'20'', if the Bishop takes the Knight on d7, there is not Rook capturing Queen, allowing Black to Queen with check, but of course Rxf7 check mate!
Sometimes heartbreaks come with the phrase "and it was in this position he resigned" :(
#suggestion Petrosjan-Botvinik, svjetsko prvenstvo 1963., 5. partija. Interesantna je završnica. Pozdrav!
The dog's having a great time! Showing off for the camera....? Haha
can someone explain to me why at 7:32 rh1+ is necessary
Svalfish1 I think it isnt necessary, but the idea is to exchange the rooks (and thus weaken whites attack possibilities). if you just promote to queen (after white king moves to h2), white could possibly continue his attack, as the promotion wouldnt come with a check.
Can you show a variation after ... Qxd5?
On the move after Nd7+ (forking king and queen), you can't capture the knight not because the bishop is pinned to the queen, but because Rxf# is checkmate
Loved the dog xD
How about around 8:05 b3 bishop takes bishop, rook recaptures then rook f6 takes pawn, king moves, then queen to f8 checkmate, or if queen recaptures then rook takes queen, rook takes rook, knight to d7 giving... Or something like that
U don't show queen exchange variation in the end.
Big vlad is doing very well. I’m sure Anish Giri deserves some credit. Kramnik is certainly firing on all cylinders and he is a true legend
At 10'28'', it seems to me that Nh5+ is a more directly winning move than the game continuation, or have I missed something?
9:14 queen captures h6 is mate in itself as the knight covers f8
what happened to Aronian? he was one of the top players only a few months ago
Awesome way to say good night! ❤
Or just say good night :p
Rouge g7 at the end was probably the only defense or I am wrong?
At 7:20, if Bxd7, isn't Rxf7#?
Yes. I came here to comment the same. @ 07:19 there is no need to capture the bishop. simply Rxf7#
Yes, which is why Antonio ignored it.
@7:20; Black can't play B×d7 because White would reply with R×f7#
There is a friendly game on TH-cam between former world champions Kramnik, Karpov and Anand and Young Russians GM which looks very cool you should do it
This is it th-cam.com/video/kCa7lDrWfBg/w-d-xo.html
What stream are you watching?
Correctiom on 7:20 you can't capture knight otherwise is checkmate
Yeah i find that 2
Just as a note Qxe5 at the end doesn't work as Rxf8 leads to checkmate
Would knight to d5 also work?
Why does magnus carlsen not attend the candidates this year?
who is this Arion guy I keep hearing about?
9:22
wait, how is that checkmate? Wouldn't the rook on a7 just capture the queen on h7?
He means: Qxh6+, the rook on a7 has to block and then Qxh7#
In the final position, how would you play against queen captures queen?
Can't, it's a discovered check.
You can capture if its not a doubled discovered attack@@jeconiahjoelmichaelsiregar7917
The white rook on f1 will give a check on f8, as the white knight is covering the only escape square of the black king.
When will the Subscribers games series begin ?
Why not Nd4 instead of Ne8?
even faster checkmate
thumb up for the dog lol
Queue the dog! lol. Always seems to go a little nuts at the beginning of the videos but makes your channel unique. I appreciate your analysis. Keep up the good work.
Dude you got a weird dog :D
i think he/she just likes showing off for the camera :D:D
That’s because the back is itchy
a better checkmate after knight to e8, was rock captures on f8, then after it's blocked, rock captures it. checkmate.
Why not Nh5 as a last move? I found that move
Can anyone explain the pirate reference ?
In my opinion in this 9 min the best move was to capture knight by the rook from f8 to f6, white queen should then recapture rook and check but black king is safe in h7 and allows to dangerous check by the black queen on e3.
7:20 Rxf7#
when you said "all the attention on Kramnik" your dog got upset and he wants some attention too.
Antonio you should take that doggy outside time to time, he is full of energy
We actually go for a long walk every day before I make a video. He's just weird like that :)
Does he have flees?
Dear Agadmator,
Despite you being my favorite TH-cam Channel, your dog is my favorite person on the planet.
Please add and give a little bio on him or her. Perhaps you already did in other films but I have not seen it yet. If you did can you please do it again I need to know more. I speak for all of us.. can we at least have the name.
Plenty of time on the clock. Aronian became distracted by the dog.
Watching this but more than that I am waiting for Mame vs Caruana.
Well thats a masterpiece already
Sundar Adhikari That's true and that's why I wanted Agad to make the video.
I thought Nd7# was stronger. You block Black's Q and he has no defense. Did I miss something?
It might still be losing for black but it can't force a checkmate at all. Exchange queens. The threat of a rook capture to try and continue the attack doesn't leave a checkmate option anymore because now you can move the king instead of blocking with the bishop.
DoomRater Total operator head space. I took my eye off the obvious. Thanks for setting me straight.
Live stream is paid now, anyone having some other source?
1:27 Medo goes nuts!
Why didn’t Aronian capture Queen on e5? The queen is not defended in anyway
At 10:46, Nh5+ was also winning
Nh5 (instead of Ne8) seems to work too, no? 37. Nh5 Qg7 38. Rxe8+ Bg8 39. Rxg8# OR 37. Nh5 Qxe5 38. Rxe8+ Bg8 39. Rxg8# OR 37. Nh5 Rg7 38. Rxe8+ Kh7 39. Nf6 Kg6 40. Qh5# OR 37. Nh5 Rg7 38. Rxe8+ Bg8 39. Rxg8 Kh7 40. Rxg7 Qxg7 41. Qxg7 (alt line 40. Rxg7 Kh8 41. Rxc7#)
9:15 Qe5 and then Nd7+ picking up the queen is winning
You failed to mention Queen takes Queen becoz it takes 5 minutes for a beginner like me to find the reason 😄
9:48. I thought knight to h5 winning. Lichess's Stockfish agree with me.
