Yeah they are this time around. After filming LOTR the only thing left of Hobbiton as far as the set went was a few concreted structures which formed the hobbit holes but they've rebuilt them all with weatherproof materials so it'll look very much like it did in the movies when you go and see it.
please please pleaseee leave the constructions in hobbiton , I'm going to travel to New Zealand in some years and I want to visit all the beautiful places I've seen in the movies *-*
It makes me definitely wanna go to New Zealand. Kapan? Oh kapan? But I am sure I can If I want to. Insyaallah. What a beautiful landscape indeed! Beyond words, NZ citizens must be soooo proud of this. Good for them
Nearly all films are made in America, but all the best modern fantasy film series are outside America. Such as Lord of the Rings was made in New Zealand, Harry Potter was made in England and Game of Thrones is made in Northern Ireland. Twilight was made in America but didn't become as successful as the others. Hollywood really is getting threatened.
Yes true, American companies do fund the Movies/TV series, but the production crew isn't American, most of the actors aren't American, the film studios and locations aren't in America, so I guess that makes up for it. Not that I'm against America making fantasy films, they are the best when it comes to movie making, just saying Hollywood is getting some rivals in the fantasy section.
Also Captain America The First Avenger filmed in England, The Last Samuri and Yogi Bear filmed in New Zealand, Cats and Dogs and Hot Tub Time Machine filmed in Canada and Aquamarine filmed in Australia
good for ya mate. I used to. I lived in Hamilton (which is 45 mins away from Hobbiton) for 4 years before I move to Canada. God I miss NZ and I really want to move back.
In Idaho and the rest of the Northwest, we have some spectacular views. Along the freeways farms in some areas would probably ruin 360' panorama, but we have some outback country which is most of it, that has some unspoiled breathtaking views. If you have a helicopter or plane, you can get some very unique places too faster than vehicle or hiking.
Places like Queenstown, Rotorua, Wanaka and Taupo need to build more hotels. Everywhere is fully packed from Christmas to Chinese New Year. Summer rush is really crazy for tourism in New Zealand.
Even though all of these featurettes are available online I still sincerily hope that they will all make it onto The Hobbit extended edition DVDs (appendices). One of my favorite things is to blast through the LOTR appendices in a couple of days, to have three new DVD sets worth to watch would be great and to re-enter the world of Middle Earth as it is created on film would be fantastic.
briliant as it is, and beautiful as NZ is, this Video is a mashup of the Video Blogs released about a year ago and has nothing to do with "The desolation of Smaug" great PR for tho
I think after my number one dream to be a sucesfull metal drumer, making all these tools houses and background-things would be my second biggest dream in my life. Its just A M A Z I N G what these people do. They are all very inspiring.
Why do I have to live on the other side of the world? I can't believe some of those landscapes are actually real. One day, I will travel from England to NZ, before I die.
I can say it only again and again... it is SUCH A LARGE PITTY that they didn't realise a documentary film about New Zeeland together with the project. I mean if you already have all those super cooll cameras and super cool choppers.... =(
Guys just saying, it looks wonderful. Though if you do not like long drives... Well long drives for you. But it does pay off to see this beautiful view!

I want to go camp in hobbiton cause i heard u are aloud to when they arent filming or u can camp while their filming behind the camera but u are not aloud to spoil it
New Zeeland remains me of my country, Norway, as beautiful, but more exotic and much more variety in habitats. The only habitat I think New Zeeland don't have is desert. When I arrive in New Zeeland, and I most sertenly will, I'm going to see and explore the intire country, by car and foot. And maybe most inportantly, a good camera and at least five 8 GB cards
Is it just me, or there's nothing in this video regarding the desolation of smaug? All we've been shown were scenes and scenarios of the 1st Hobbit movie
New Zealand 100% Kiwi Where I'm from proud kiwi born raised makes me appreciate home alot so faraway. This is my home always will be can't wait to go home well done Peter Jackson & everyone involved Mã te Atua E Manaaki Eho a ma Ka mau te wehi

The home of middle earth...
No, New Zealand is middle earth

NZ road trip been on my bucket list since I was 11 years old and saw LOTR in cinemas
I feel so lucky living in the Sth Island of NZ. Never regretting moving here from OZ. You can keep the rest of the World.

My dream is to go to New Zealand and see all the places they filmed at!
It would be a dream come true, to get to go there! Such a beautiful country.

If you want to see the southern Alps as seen at 6:20 just type in and look up the video- "this is why we fly...." breath taking video
Damn I always thought some of these shots has to be full CGI. I was so wrong
So this is how Heaven looks like...

Twilight was actually filmed in Canada, in the forests in British Colombia. Unless you were referring to North America and not the United States.
Also Captain America The First Avenger filmed in England, The Last Samuri and Yogi Bear filmed in New Zealand, Cats and Dogs and Hot Tub Time Machine filmed in Canada and Aquamarine filmed in Australia
I love living in New Zealand! I honestly cant imagine myself wanting to live anywhere else.

What a fantastic travelogue for Kiwi-land!
My very very favourite movie lord of the ring and the Hobbit......and big Oscar award winning.....

Hmmm... Maybe living in New Zealand wouldn't be too bad
Places like Queenstown, Rotorua, Wanaka and Taupo need to build more hotels. Everywhere is fully packed from Christmas to Chinese New Year. Summer rush is really crazy for tourism in New Zealand.
Went there for adventuring holidays there twice. Best fortnights of my life.
no kidding...cant even explain how proud i am to be a kiwi. 100% pure New Zealand.
I will never forgot my two trips to New Zealand. My third will be soon.
I love it how the Hobbit is being filmed in my country!

Me too. It's only 800 something years old. Very young land which is why so much of it is unspoiled (the land and its people).
briliant as it is, and beautiful as NZ is, this Video is a mashup of the Video Blogs released about a year ago and has nothing to do with "The desolation of Smaug"
great PR for tho
One day i am going to pack my bags and run and say " i am going on an adventure!" I will feel what Bilbo felt.

One day, i will go to New Zealand. Such a beautiful country.
Abel tazman is the one who discovered it for the Europeans about 1640 but the maori found it in about 1340

I've been there 4 months. You won't. You should and must go :)
Due to my job, I go to Hobbiton (Matamata), every 2 months.
My opinion is, it still needs more tourists.
What's the term "Kiwi"? I heard it before.
Does anyone know the name of the theme at 0:35?
800 is an odd way to say 500 million, but close enough
