This song is about colonists that were sent to places like the US hundreds of years ago. It was a very dangerous trip but after many years they would send ships with women on them. The men called them "Crystal Ships".
The words I come up with , with the Doors are Spiritual, esoteric mystical, ethereal, 16th plain of exitance. Surreal like a Salvador Dali' oil painting, a metamorphic Cake left out in the Rain . A fried egg hanging on a tree branch, turning into an egg clock, set three minutes before Midnight. A snail racing past the hair on a bald mans konker. With a silver spoon in the mouth of a poor mans son, while the rich mans son, jumps over the burning candle stick. Great balls of fire !
The Doors have so many shades of differing styles. From jazzy rock, to blues and jazz, to psychedelic, to classical jazz- rock. You name it. Try psychedelic 'Strange Days', or bluesy rock, 'Waiting for the Sun', or more blues 'Cars Hiss by my Window', and jazz- rock hit, 'Light my Fire'.
Can you react to Gloria (Dirty Version) by The Doors? Its raw and keep in mind in the 60’s you couldnt cuss not even say the word “high” and they broke the boundaries of what music was back in their day and i think it takes huge balls to do that. I once had all their albums and knew almost all the songs by heart. Even did karaoke using The Doors music since I knew all the lyrics. Morrison had a great voice to try to copy if you want to sing.
Jim Morrison thought of himself more of a "poet" then a Rock star. Another member of the "27 club," along with Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. They all died at 27 yrs old. They were all Rock/Blues Superstars of the same era. Late 60s to early 70s. Just think of the music they would have composed and performed had they lived even a few more years then they did. At least they left us with some of their great talent to enjoy. God Bless Them.

Although Val Kilmer did a great job, Oliver Stone presented only the drunk & dark Jim Morrison. He was so much more than that, but Stone wanted to sensationalize Morrison to sell his movie.
