Garret and Ruth had the anchor foul on something after a Cyclone came by where they had anchored Rediviva and after a lot of hard work trying to recover the anchor and chain, Garret had to let go the chain and abandon the anchor with a buoy attached to mark where the gear is for a diver to recover it sometime in the future, so they had to sort out the stern anchor and the rode (thick Rope and a short length of chain that doesn't fit the Winch that they already have, if it was all Rode it would fine on the port side of the Winch to hoist the anchor, or if it was all chain it would have been fine on starboard side of the Winch as it had been until they lost main chain and anchor..so Garret and Ruth had to wait until they were able to afford a new length of chain and anchor again.

I'm soo jealous, but then I realised that all I'd have to do is spend a lot of money, rely on the kindness of friends, family and, to be real a fair amount of strangers. After that, learn a plethora of new skills and put them to use, find purchase and in the case of some items, pray for. Buy, beg steal and borrow materials. Spend sleepless nights and long days for years, in freezing temperatures more years in hot weather. Get frustrated, get blisters, get bills, and after all that just keep up the maintenance. Yea, I'm not too jealous anymore. I am however VERY impressed. Long live Rediviva...thanks guys

Making painting/oiling/varnishing faster: Use brush to do the edges, use a roller (big or small depending on the size of the area) to do the middle parts and use the brush to do the pattern and bursting the bubbles on the rolled parts afterwards. Keep a wet edge (so roll in patches). Brush along the grain towards the already painted area and lift the brush gently at different spots (so that you don't get a visible pattern edge). If you're using a linseed oil based paint especially on non-treated surface, you need to brush over the same spot several times to "beat" the paint into the surface.

At approximately 1:20 in this video I had to do a double take😮 it looked at first glance as if Garret had some whale tail going on. I was in shock! What the … I’m happy to say it was a shadow from a rope casting on your hip. I lmao for a few minutes and contemplated leaving a comment but I just had too. You don’t seem like the type which is why it was so shocking and funny. Good laugh. Love your Chanel !

What a rare treat it is to get a new episode and find myself again on this strange, unique, hand made amazing looking craft so different from all the glass hulls in their multitudes. Reminds me a little of a kid in school when we could slide on the laminated hardwood hallway floors in our sock feet. Best of all since I watched the build from the keel up and thru all the rope's complex concolutions I get to actuallu understand how it all works. Amazing.

Look into a peristaltic pump for salt water. The water never touches any part of the pump besides the Tygon tube, so it's very corrosion proof. It's easy to work on because of it's open architecture and the only moving parts are the rollers. Glad to see dry old Red finally getting some soupy love!

    1. After building the boat, who can blame you for just living for a while. Good on you that proper maintenance is back. You can and will catch up! Just prioritize what is necessary and keep up as good as you can! Boats generally need constant maintenance, wooden boats probably don't need more but more regular work, I guess. Anyway, no harm yet and you are in time to catch well up!
Having fairly recently read Steinbeck's "Sea of Cortez" and having seen some videos about whale watching at the entrance of the bay, I really envy your geographical position! Make the best of it! But keep up the boat!
Once again: good on you for occasionally mentioning the date of filming.
Clear waters are not necessarily where fish are. Good luck - and all around all the best!

It looks like the primer has adhered well but the red seems to be coming off. Some cheaper primers work better with a little coarser profile. Since your spot repairing anyway try several sandpaper grades to see which on works best. Pick 3 or 4 spots and use... say, 80,120,160 etc. Feather the red edges with 120 and an orbital sander. Worth a shot. If the primer is not peeling ... it's doing its job. Good luck. Always enjoy the posts.
