i absolutely love the art style and the sprites, the special stages look so fun, they even have so many game mechanics, like the special stages, the blue spheres, the super peel-out and the elemental shields, the soundtrack is also breathtaking
ss7 has to be the most painful special stage... dude. THE AIR FANS DIDNT WANT TO WORK UNTIL I REALIZED I HAD TO GO ON A SIDE... but the game overall was fun i did manage to beat the true finale as sonic (takes 26 hits to destroy)
Something I never noticed in bubble blossom is that if you stop and look at the sky its actually still night, even though all the bright pink makes you think its day, forecasting the sunrise at the end of Gusty Greenhouse.
This was the first completed playthrough I ever did but I did have a go on the earlier stages a few times as I had an absolute blast exploring them. They are very expansive for a Sonic game. And I have played the Genesis games to death in my younger days!
So... I really don't understand what the deal is with the special stages. There is no clear target for you to reach, only a red circle that becomes blue... but then it isn't? Yet you still get the Chaos Emerald? Not really following...
The more blue spheres you collect, the faster you go. The faster you go, the less laps it takes to catch up with the Emerald. Meanwhile, your ring count is going down. You can collect rings but there is not an infinite amount of them. If you get hit, you will slow down and have to gather blue spheres to build your speed again. The later stages however have a lot of pits and target rings with button combinations which give you the air needed to clear certain jumps. Gets intense! But I understand what you mean. It took me a few go's to get what was going on. Hope this makes it clearer
It's the Fallen Star combined with the power of the Chaos Emeralds. In a one cut scene, it's shows what Robotnik plans to do with the star once all it's pieces come together. So it clearly has it's own source of great power like the Emeralds. In the last but one cut scene, the Star chooses to merge with Super Sonic to create Nova Sonic. And after the battle, the Star separates from Sonic and he goes back to Super Sonic. So clearly the Star has bestowed that power on him. That's my interpretation. But the lore of the game, you will have to ask the StarDrop developers.
Why are Tails’ shoes blue? And why is Metal Sonic red? I cannot overlook those details. Other than that (and the inability to take shields into the next Act), I’d give this game a perfect score.
Well the blue shoes are a reference to StarDrop's colours for their logo (I believe) and Metal Sonic is red because he has been there for a very very long time and has rusted over. The shields thing wasn't too troublesome but what did annoy me was that after a special stage, your ring count resets to 0 and you lose your shield! Don't think it was intentional mind.

This is a community of diehard Sonic fans and amateur game developers (only amateur in that they do this entirely for free) that have permission by Sega to make their own unofficial games and creations as a tribute to the franchise. This is where some of the creators of Sonic Mania started before being employed by Sega. In fact, Sega have taken on a few of these developers having being impressed with a lot of their work.
