I wish my grandfather was still here to see this team stun everyone. He was a huge Tigers fan and passed away in April '23 at 92 years old. He'd be loving this team and what they have accomplished so far this year. He was a dedicated Tigers fan through and through and wanted people to wear Tigers gear or colors for his funeral service. He probably would have been surprised by the fact I wore an Al Kaline '68 Road jersey to his service. Kaline was his absolute favorite player.

I lost my Dad in May of 2006, five months before the Tigers returned to the World Series. And even though it wasn’t a successful trip to the fall classic for Detroit, I could feel his presence, and his spirit all around my entire family.
One of the very few things that brings us all together is celebrating the Astros losing. On behalf on America, thank you Detroit! 🧡💙

I agree, but don't disrespect the Wings, leaving them out of said heart analogy. They've brought home more success than any others. Earned the name 'Hockey Town' and gave this city 21 years of straight post-season play. They're working their way back up.

This team is young and dangerous. They better be ready in Cleveland because you are about to witness the hottest team in baseball for about the last two months ( 31-11 ). Back on August 3 I thought there wasn't a chance for them to make the playoffs but I did see they were making progress towards getting there, then BOOM!...They all of a sudden got red hot. It reminds me of how the Lions did it. Coaching young players the proper way is the key to success and both the Lions and the Tigers have proven that.
Cleveland knows all about this team.

When you start winning games after not winning them, it's pretty easy to start buying into what you've got going on. The pitching chaos, the aggressive base running, the plays on defense, buying into the idea of "playing all 27 outs" (AKA it ain't over til it's over) are all working. And they believe they will work; so they commit to all of it 110%. Once you buy into an identity and a method, even if it's madness, it gives you an advantage mentally. That's what has worked for the Lions and now the Tigers, too. Our teams are representing Detroit so well right now!

This very well may be the end of the Astros dynasty. Lots of questions moving forward with players like Bregman entering free agency and Kyle Tucker extension eligible. Tiger simply were the better team especially on the bases where their speed and athleticism made a massive difference.

He was promoting an album or book he had out, can't remember which, and he played the organ. He was on top of the world then, but sadly not for long. Indeed though as you say, the 68 season was so good for the city of Detroit!

Saw my first, live Tigers game at the old Tiger Stadium when I was about 8 - they took two from The Washington Senators (who have been the Texas Rangers for about 50 years) in a double header. I don't care what happens the rest of the year - I think this has been more fun than '84. A bunch of rookies, guys who have been sent down, one marquee player in Skubal. They really have one starter - it's totally crazy. These guys play like the kids they are....just believing in each other and having fun playing baseball. I can't completely figure this out and I don't care. This is a special group of young guys with a unique chemistry and they are a wonderful advertisement for the joy of this game - whatever happens from here on out. Can these guys go all the way? Well, the think they can and that' s half the battle.
The 84 team was the hottest team in baseball out of the gate, and this team the hottest on the back end, how about that. Both teams special in different ways! I was a youngster when the 68 team were champs that year, that was a lot of fun too! 🤓
