Wat ziet het er weer geweldig uit!! Het blijft genieten. En wat is de jubaea chilensis groot zeg!! Ik weet niet wat voor grond jij heb in de tuin maar dat moet haast wel klei zijn denk ik.wand zo mooi als jij het voor elkaar heb is best bijzonder . Heerlijk om te zien Demi top man!!

Als je aandachtig kijkt zie je het ontbreken van speren bij de Jubaea... die had namelijk voor het eerst speerrot dit jaar. 😔
Gelukkig ziet hij er voor de rest nog perfect uit waardoor het niet opvalt. De nieuwe speren komen nu eindelijk terug tevoorschijn, het heeft lang geduurd met dat koude voorjaar er nog bij...
Dus de Jubaea is nog steeds hetzelfde als eind vorig jaar, nog geen blad erbij voorlopig. Jammer van dit verloren jaar 🤷♂️
En mijn grond is niet echt klei hoor, in de diepte zit wel klei, meestal die gele of zwarte... Mijn tuin ligt redelijk ingesloten dus profiteert wel van het microklimaat op vele plaatsen. En vooral de vele jaren die de meeste palmen al staan doen het ook wel hoor. Goede bescherming waardoor ze geen schade oplopen is het belangrijkste.
Helaas heb ik dit jaar veel schade opgelopen door afgelopen natte winter. Ik beklaag mezelf nog steeds dat ik niet wou bij verwarmen door de hoge energiekosten...🤦♂️🤷♂️
Gelukkig zijn de belangrijkste schadegevallen alweer aan het herstellen. De grote Butia is wel dood helaas, afgelopen winter was de genadeslag...

Super réalisation, j’ai vu que tu avait planté des cycas, tu les protèges avec des cordons chauffants? C’est la seul variété que j’ai en pots, je n’ose pas le planter, j’habite dans la Marne

J'ai plusieurs Cycas revoluta en pleine terre. ils ne sont pas chauffés. Mais c'est parce que je dois chauffer trop d'autres choses, malheureusement je ne peux pas tout chauffer. Ils sont bien emballés avec des chiffons. Le plus grand a toujours une cage, regardez cette vidéo th-cam.com/video/XVfhANUwMUY/w-d-xo.html
L'hiver dernier il a fait -7°C ici, malgré la protection j'ai quand même perdu 1 Cycas. Les autres n'avaient perdu que la feuille, mais ils ont tous à nouveau de nouvelles feuilles. (Google Translate)

Für eine Phoenix canariënsis würde ich auf jeden Fall mindestens 25m² um sie herum freihalten. (5m x 5m)
Mein Phönix hat jetzt einen Durchmesser von ca. 9 Metern.

@@user-bc15la7ot4f I have a passion for exotic plants, especially palms. Unfortunately I live in a cold & humid climate so these plants cannot survive here on their own. To help these plants survive and grow well here, they are indeed well protected during the winters. So the point is getting them through the winter.
But I do understand your question, what's the point... once they get too big and then it becomes almost impossible to protect them enough...
But it is mainly the challenge that makes this hobby the most enjoyable. These plants are very unique here in our cold & wet climate, we have to travel far to see these plants in real life. The challenge of being able to grow these plants here in our own garden is very satisfying. Letting these plants survive and even grow well and large here is very nice. We are not used to such plants here and that is why it is very enjoyable for us to have such exotic plants in our own garden and it gives us a very great holiday feeling in our own garden ...
@@Dimi.Exotic.Garden Thank you, I got your point of view. Climate is wet, not good, this is bad for palms, dry wintering needed.
My vision is based on Michurin's methods of plants growing. I choose plants which csn survive with psssive covering and sometimes even minimal and can be introduced in the futute, giving seeds and pups.
As example, if summer temperatures are not high enoug, I do not grow figs and pomegranates, even if I'm crazy of it.
I like palms so much as well, but I would like introduce them, may be even a few of them with minimum winter covering, without additional cover constructions and heating.
Not every plant is good for every region.
I know how hard is it, especially 8-10 years seadlings grown by yourself, needs a lot of time and work. And I appreciate your scrupulouse work even more, than your beautiful plants, I know the price of it.
This is my may be subjective vision. You have enough experience with big plants, it is very good. My palms from seeds only 1,5 meters if high. How will I take care of them, it is a question for me. Anyway, thank you for your beautiful work, take care of yourself too.

I don't keep plants for which the summer temperatures here are too low. There are many really tropical palms that I am really in love with but unfortunately can't keep here because they don't grow. So I don't really.
The palms that I have grown here in open ground for many years, they do very well here, they grow quickly and very healthy. Only the wet, cold & dark winters here, they cannot survive unprotected. So I'll lend a hand there.
I also sowed some palms myself or bought them as seedlings and then planted them out...

Ja het voetbalveld is volledig verdwenen. Ik heb inderdaad verschillende Trachycarpus staan. T. fortunei, T. wagnerianus, T. nanus x wagnerianus, T. princeps, T. princeps new form, T. princeps x wagnerianus, T. wagnerianus x princeps, T. manipur & T. martianus, allen in volle grond voor meerdere jaren. En inderdaad hopen op weer een zachte winter. Bedankt 👍
Ah ,ok.Manipur en princeps zijn super.Zou je geinteresseerd zijn,ik heb scheuten van winterharde opuntias,15 cm diameter.

Yes, the Jubaea is indeed becoming very beautiful.
I bought it and planted it out at the beginning of 2014. Of course, I don't know exactly how old it is. But it has been in open ground for 10 years. I also have a Timelapse video of this Jubaea here on my TH-cam. There you can see the purchase, planting and growing over all those 10 years 😉

@@rob2880 nee dit koud en nat weer doet geen goed bij de meeste palmen...amper groei. Wel ideaal voor de Trachy's en boomvarens, die zijn wel blij. 2023 is een slecht jaar, kut winter, geen lente en nu ook weer een strontzomer...😕 achja, niks aan te doen 🤷♂️ Hopelijk terug een zachte winter en dan inderdaad weer uitkijken naar volgend jaar 👍

What did you do that your date palm is so huge? what fertilizer? how much water
Nothing special though. Just plant out small, then they will be the thickest with good care. The first 10 years in open ground I didn't even give fertilizer. 🤷♂️
Just protect it very well during the winter so that it does not suffer damage from which it has to recover. And give plenty of water during hot days, just generally give enough water, because they like that.
What is also very important, prune as little as possible, the more leaves the thicker the palm will become. 💪

Tak, paprocie drzewiaste i inne egzotyki również stały się tutaj bardzo drogie, na które prawie nie można już sobie pozwolić. Na szczęście udało mi się tanio kupić moje paprocie drzewiaste 😇

Jardin incroyable, avez-vous des Nanus ? Je suis fan de ce palmier pourtant très dur à se procurer, cependant les Nanus hybride sont plus facilement trouvable et bien moins chers, mais je ne sais pas à quoi il ressemble, j'aimerais que le stipe reste petit

J'ai un Trachycarpus nanus x wagnerianus. Donc un hybride avec nanus, un pur T. nanus malheureusement pas. Malheureusement, je ne peux pas vous aider avec ça.😔🤷♂️
How close together can one plant palm trees ? I want the bushy appearance that they have in this video for some privacy.
Hi, that of course also depends a bit on which palm tree species you want to plant. But in general it doesn't matter much if you want to get that overgrown look. Nature always finds its way, so the strongest/fastest grower pushes the others.
I wouldn't go closer than 1 to 2 meters to still leave some space. The trunks do become narrower if they are close together. This is because they want more light and therefore grow faster in height, growing stretched out.

Oui, le Washingtonia est toujours vivant. Cependant, il a pris un gros coup depuis l'hiver dernier. Le long temps froid de cette année n'a pas trop aidé non plus.🤷♂
Mais la palme se remet maintenant bien. Mais il est faible et loin de l'ancien, cela prendra encore un an. Espérons que l'hiver prochain ne soit pas trop rigoureux.🤞
A 1:52 quel est le palmier dont on aperçoit plus que la base du stipe ? Un Phoenix canariensis qui a eu moins de chance que l'autre !

Bien repéré. Malheureusement, c'est un 'Butia capitata' qui a reçu le coup de grâce l'hiver dernier. 😔

@@Dimi.Exotic.Garden Merci ! Chez moi j'ai remarqué que mes Butia capitata étaient souvent sujet à la pourriture du coeur, sans doute suite à un excès d'humidité hivernale. Un traitement à la bouillie bordelaise peut s'avérer miraculeux.
Dankjewel ! Thuis merkte ik dat verschillende Butia capitata vaak last hadden van hartrot, waarschijnlijk door een te hoge luchtvochtigheid in de winter. Een behandeling met Bordeaux-mengsel kan wonderen verrichten.
@@philippehoyez9398 Oui, c'est en effet dû à la forte humidité. L'hiver dernier a été beaucoup trop humide, c'était aussi du gel humide avec 100% d'humidité. Malheureusement plus rien à faire. Bordelaise est un agent antifongique. Cela aide à prévenir d'autres dommages, mais cela n'aide pas la paume à récupérer.
