  • Click Here To Subscribe! ► bit.ly/JOovvU - I figured a lot of hobbyists would like to know how to upgrade their Kyosho Blizzard SR's. I have never done this particular build before, so I am interested in seeing how challenging it is going to be. Today, I am installing a Sabertooth 2x12 ESC, designed to control both speed and steering.

    THANKS!! I ordered the ESC from ROBOTSHOP myself. Something I do with receivers-- I take BIND, AUX1, AUX2, etc. and plug in short servo extensions before I "button up" / seal-up / waterproof the receiver. Then I waterproof the ends of the extensions sticking out. This way, if I have to re-bind, or use the AUX for something [ telemetry, lighting or sound, etc ] I don't have to open up the receiver box.

    You'll be amazed at how dry it stays under the body. I've ran mine in water at least track deep and the esc was totally dry on the inside.
    I got rid of the on/off switch also and beefed up the wiring. Pop a 3S in there and have fun :)

    The ends of the wires should really be tinned with solder when using those screw style terminal blocks with stranded wire. When you clamp them down the stranded wire tends to fray and this can create hot spots that rob your battery run time, or with enough draw melt the terminal. Love the vids man, I get to see all the stuff I can't afford.

    I bought the same blizzard a few years ago. I got the sabertooth and waterproof stainless-ish bearings (they are magnetic stainless) + beefier wires. I waterproofed the sabertooth and went submarine style with it but it died on me last year so I probably need a new one.
    Ran it with a 2-cell lipo.
    The stock motors are a bit slow in my opinion so I'm it should be interesting how the new motors work for you and if the gears hold up.

    If you want to try something differant for water proofing. Allot of guy here in Ontario are using Acrylic Conformal coating with really good success. Its a clear coating that you brush on, 3-4 coats and you'll never worry about agian. It's what most manufacters use when water proofing their boards before selling them to us the end user

    • @JacobHayden
      @JacobHayden 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Silicone conformal coating works alot better and wont fail in below freezing conditions since it has flex to it even MG Chemicals that makes it all suggest using the silicone conformal coating in extremely wet humid or frigid conditions

      Justin Bechtel agreed. Maybe 1/4 or 1/5 scale would be ideal. 3-3 1/2 feet long posered by a small 2-3 horsepower briggs & stratton, tecumseh or even a $99 predator motor.

Before runninb the motors I used electrical contact cleaner. Be careful, the cleaner IS FLAMMABLE and brushed motors SPARK. ... ... I used a GENERAL TOOLS PRECISION OILER [ www.generaltools.com/precision-oiler ] to lube the motor bearings.
