    I’m on day 26, I’m down 16 pounds (I’m fat) and I feel so energetic, and happy.
    I’m kinda sad it’s coming to an end, and I think I’m going to incorporate this into my life forever.

      Congratulations! In my opinion, that should always be the point of these rather extreme diets…Whole30, keto, paleo, etc. They shouldn’t be forever diets, rather they should help you evolve how you eat. I’ve gone keto one month at a time 3 times in my life. But in general, I now eat drastically less carbs and sugar compared to what I used to eat. And I eat almost no processed foods anymore. Just try to compare where you’re at on a day compared to 1, 5 or 10 years prior, and you should be able to see how you’re making huge positive changes over time. Even if some days or some months you feel down about your choices.

      @@Durpydurp4488 YES! I completed my whole 30 a month ago, but since then I have still kept off the sugar and grains and such. I’m down 25 pounds, feel energetic enough that I started running. And this diet will forever impact the choices I make about my body. So happy I did it.

    I did whole 30. I loved it. Not being able to have sugar really made fruits taste like candy and now I hardly ever go near sugary snacks. My weight changed slightly, but my main goal going into it wasn't weight loss, it was changing my eating habits. I was addicted to sugar and soda and now I've almost completely eliminated both from my diet. I would recommend whole 30 for sure.

    I lost over ten pounds doing this for one month really works I was never hungry lost the crave for the sugar... My skin was very clear this is now my go to diet!!!

      Yes!! My whole family easily switched to coconut aminos from soy sauce last year on a whim, and everyone likes it so much better - it's yummy.

    You should do a follow up video where you slowly reintroduce foods to see if anything specifically was the cause of problems you experienced before. Acne, bloating, etc.

    She probably had reasonably good gut health to start. Her changes were not super dramatic. Someone with really unbalanced gut health and bacterial over growth will have much more dramatic numbers, in a positive way.

      I agree. But speaking from an "unhealthy" gut I do feel cleaner 😁 I feel lighter not weight coming off lighter, I did realize that even if is only 4 to 5 hours of sleep I do sleep so much better deep sleep for that time. I usually wake up every hour with restlessness. It has been very hard because with this diet you cannot be lazy. You have to cook everytime. Hey you do save a ton of money...😁

    Congratulations!!! I'll be starting my Whole30 on March 1, 2019 & this video is really encouraging. I'm 65, retired, live alone, and due to a chronic illness that mainly causes major fatigue, I have no social life (my own fault) so a totally different lifestyle BUT I also have a lot of that under the skin acne that I know is a buildup of sebum...yuck...probably because my number one vice is COLA (Coke or Pepsi) and I'm talking the real deal, not diet. Been drinking cola in various degrees since I was 19!!! It began in college because I don't like coffee so it's what I drank to stay awake pre-exams, etc. That's 46 YEARS of pouring sugar into my body. Thank God I don't have raging diabetes...not even pre-diabetic - that has to just be good genes. So, no Coke will be my #1 challenge - I don't drink, really don't have a sweet tooth except for the Coke - like the foods I can eat on it, etc.
    I decided to move toward a Keto/Paleo/Primal type of eating because my cholesterol is high for the first time in my life. In addition to all the Coke, I don't like to cook so for years I've primarily eaten frozen/processed foods. The beginning of January I began moving toward that diet and without any other changes, no exercise, etc. I've already lost around 15 lbs so I'm excited about positive changes continuing.

    Loved this video. I just started the Paleo Diet three weeks ago (with one cheat day a week). I’ve also been running on the treadmill 4 times a week. So far, I’ve lost 11lbs! You are right about substituting the things you love with a healthier option. I’m now craving healthy food, no longer wanting to cheat, and have an abundance of energy! Great job!!

    It would have been nice to see what you were eating and to see the reintroduction phase - which is the essential purpose of Whole30 - how certain foods affect your body.

    I’m starting whole 30 today and this is giving me encouragement. Figured during a third lockdown after Xmas when you know your not going to be going out to restaurants for dinner is a good time to start- wish me luck! 🤞🏻

      It worked really well for me- I lost 10lbs in the 30 days and I’ve completely changed the way I eat since then and since I started I lost 24lbs

    I'm on day 9 of the whole30 and my hardest part is craving sugar and candy. I'm fine for the most part and then I see peanut m&m and want to cheat. I haven't cheated yet. Must...have....willpower

      Stay strong! It helps to remember that this is only temporary. You can have all the M&Ms after your thirty days are up if you want -- but by then who knows, you may feel totally different! You got this. Let us know how you feel at the end!

    I love whole 30. I lost almost 20lbs last year and kept it off an entire year! Now I'm trying to incorporate Keto and Whole 30 noticing how certain foods affect my body and triggers migraines.

    First time I did whole30 back in 2014, I didn’t want to stop after 30 days so I just kept going, for 6 months! Then I was afraid to add back foods because I was in the best health of my life, so I started with just legumes. It took me 2 years to finish adding back my foods. I learned I couldn’t eat most grains, corn and soy. A few years later found out I was celiac. I love whole30. I like to indulge in all my favorite veggies sautéed in bacon or roasted in the oven with avocado oil. For my sweet tooth I eat green apple slices with almond butter or I drink a chai tea with homemade cashew milk.

    PALEO- whole 30 made me lose 35 pounds and feel better. my a1c went down to under 6.0 shocking my doctor who wanted to put me on pills. the only problem i had was foot and leg cramps. make sure you take magnesium supplements and pickle juice really helps and eating pickles as well.

    I've done Whole 30 twice now, The first time through was pretty difficult (March2019). I had recently been diagnosed with Crohn's and was looking for a possible way to reduce inflammation. Though I'm largely asymptomatic when it comes to crohn's the biggest change I saw was a lost of 24 lbs in a month!!! A year had past since my diagnosis, and I was gaining weight at a profound rate. I weighed more than I ever had in my entire life. I started my second round of whole30 (Jan2020) and again lost 22lbs in a month. I found the second time was easier, sugar is my Achilles heel, but orange juice cured my cravings. Having meals planned ahead of time was a huge help! Going out to eat is nearly - completely off the table, Knowing when a meal was made, that I had better make enough for left overs is a sure fire was to keep you from taking the easy way out and purchasing something from a fast food joint in a pinch. The second time around for me has definitely encouraged the need to continue eating healthy, and look for alternatives to processed foods and sugar. Congratulations on your whole 30!

    This may help chocolate cravers. I’ve had two drs tell me a magnesium deficiency causes chocolate cravings. When I crave it now, it always coincides with forgetting Magnesium for a while

    I started dieting and I lost over 10 pounds I was 136, I started exercising and went down to 127, I stopped exercising because of the hw I have, so I decided to change my diet. I stopped cravings. And now I’m 117/118!
    My collar bone is more noticeable.
    I’m eating more veggies something I lacked and I’m cutting down the sugars. My low handles are less noticeable too.

    Havnt don’t Whole 30 but I do want to try it sometime. I started counting macros a year ago. Lost 30lbs in 5 months. And after I realized there’s about 100 calories in a shot of alcohol I rarely drink it anymore. And I’m 26.

      Yes! Not drinking makes a huge difference. And so cool to hear about the results you've seen counting macros. We've heard good thing about that method as well and may have to give it a try!

    I’m about to do this. I already hate it! But I need a change. I am tired of battling my health, inflammation, exhaustion, and digestive issues. I’ve lost 30-40lbs this year (it fluctuates 8lbs) but I want to make sure I keep this weight off. I freaking worked too hard to go back. I haven’t been able to drop the last 25. So fingers crossed 🤞!!

    we also have to acknowledge that WHOLE30 promotes restriction in pretty extreme ways and can attract people with eating disorder history or tendency. And man, eating a bag of dried mangoes after limiting yourself is totally natural! I don't know why we as humans love to torture and challenge ourselves so much . But glad you got something useful out of it and did an honest review

    I think that losing 3 pounds in a month is not amazing, but it may be because of all the dried fruit, or some other factor. Plus, she looked pretty good to begin with. I lost about 15 pounds in a month on Whole30 and felt great. Thanks for the video!

    but isn't the point to find out what foods aren't right for you? It would have been cool to hear about the reintroductory phase. After all, it's not really supposed to be about weight loss., that's just a pleasant side effect

    I wasn't impressed with the 3lbs. I've been on diets where I lost 7kg's in 2 weeks. In fact one diet had me lose 12 kg's in 2 months. Also restrictive dieting. The benefits would be the fat loss, skin clearing and energy levels. I'm researching this for the energy lost in restrictive diets, however, I might be willing to sacrifice the energy for the lbs. Thanks for the review. You look amazing, before and after.

    At the beginning of the video sleep was mentioned and also energy level. Those two things were not mentioned after the diet. I wondered how those were affected.

    I realize after watching this that I kind of live this lifstyle - maybe have to eliminate protein bars and substitute with fresh fruit. Use protein bars for my sugar cravings. I do not do dairy, I do not eat pastas or rice. I definitely do not eat sugar. I may need a different program but this was great thank you

    Starting off any plan/change by saying “I’m terrified...” is not a great way to start. :( I highly recommend reading the Whole30 books to learn - and get excited - about all of the reasons you’re doing this plan. The Non Scale Victories are the biggest reasons to do this plan. :) I lost over 100lb and having a positive mindset is the main reason. No fear, and positive self talk. :)

    No snacking unless you’re breastfeeding or working out. No recreating unhealthy foods using whole30 ingredients that you used to eat like a smoothie bowl. I love that people are trying the whole30 but wish people/accounts would read all of the rules and actually follow them before they influence others to do it incorrectly. Also it’s not a diet it’s a reset. But hey at least people are trying it. #foodfreedom

      Appreciate this feedback! We read through the official Whole30 rules and did the best we could. The distinction between treats with approved ingredients is for sure a hard one to distinguish!

      emcchs13 speak for yourself. I read the whole 30 and followed it almost to the t. But I’m extremely active, I do aerial fitness 6 days a week most the time. So I had to modify to make it fit my lifestyle. Following anything so dogmatic is not smart. You have to listen to your own body. Whole30 isn’t a bible. This woman made a huge lifestyle change and she got the basic premise of the cleanse. The dried fruit and the smoothie bowl are minor deviations from the program, so I don’t see an issue.

      Michelle Depew That’s great do whatever you need to do for your body but you need to recognize that the Whole30 is a challenge. Don’t say you did the Whole30 if you made a bunch of changes to it. It is no longer the Whole30 it is a loosely followed meal plan that you’ve given yourself. I followed it strictly once and then used food freedom since then. The only reason I left my initial comment is because I wouldn’t want people to see this video and do the reset incorrectly.

    I did this program twice. The 1st thing I can recommend is pick a 30 day period where there are no special events. I'm a big drinker and not having alcohol was the biggest challenge. But the 1st time I lost 40lbs. And after baby #2 I lost 20lbs because I cheated and started the program twice .lol now I'm on the 3rd time. In 6yrs

      For real. When I'm craving sugar I make a frozen banana smoothie with cocoa powder, sun butter and coconut milk. It hits the spot.

    You just need to make sure you eat enough food at your meals. And dates are your best friend when you need to satisfy a sweet tooth.

    I have been doing keto and am down from 161 to 145 have been at a stall, i was going to start a whole 30 and yesterday I added a larabar and some plaintain chips. I gained 3 lbs overnight. since I have been doing keto I wanted to weigh even though cutting Dairy and stevia. I think I need to do a modified whole thirty or keto without dairy and stevia. Dont think I can do the potatoes and fruity treats, which is a bummer.

    Ok, you can't have that chocolate bar on a Whole 30, btw. That breaks the SWYPO rule.

      Thanks for the feedback! We're still learning lots about what makes or breaks the official Whole30 rules from all of your comments. In any case, we did what we could at the time and were impressed with the results that we saw even with a little rule bending ;)

    It's nice that so many people had results. Mine were very minor. I was coming out of a depression, and read that it helped people with mh problems, so I tried it with a little too much hope that it would bring me out of it, and was a little disappointed when that didn't really happen.
    I didn't completely follow the rules to a T, because I can't always eat at work when I'm hungry, so sometimes I had to wait, but everything else was pretty much to the letter, save for the occasional RX bar (which is still compliant as long as you don't overdo it). But, I work in a bakery and went two months without eating any of the food there, so I was glad to see that I could challenge myself to do that and succeed. I did it for about 50 days and then another 14 for reintroduction, because my body tends to react slowly to things hoping that
    The best things about it for me was just that it got me to cook. I grew up in a family of non-cooks, so it forced me to put way more work into the food I ate instead of eating for convenience. I was also cooking for other people in my house who were sort of doing the diet, and adjusted some for a person who can't have any salt. It helped me realize that legumes make me extremely gassy(or at least lentils do), and that cheese wasn't having much of an impact on me as I thought. But, I didn't have the magical results a lot of people do. I actually gained a bit of weight, but my clothes did become looser, so I'm not putting too much stock in the weight portion.
    I'm open to any advice. The RX bars are really the only thing I can think of that weren't really the best choice(but even those I only had on occasion). I tried my best to stay in the spirit of the program, and maybe I could have exercised more, but I was hoping for there to be more positives than I got, especially with mental health, energy and certain dietary issues. I always assumed milk was what blocked my digestive system, but eliminating it for two months only helped me a small amount. I was hoping to have more energy and feel a lot better, but I was disappointed that after 64 days, my depression only lessened a little bit(and I was doing a lot of therapeutic-related things as well that have helped in the past while I was doing whole30, so the actual difference might be even smaller). I don't know if anyone else has had similar issues and found a solution, but if there's anyone out there who had a similar experience to mine and made changes that worked, I'm open to suggestions or insight.

      Cameron, I have depression as well as overall anxiety issues. A naturopath told me many years ago to cut out dairy, wheat, and eggs due to sensitivity problems. Since I didn't have a diet to follow it was hard and I never succeeded with it. In April of this year I started Paleo and later transitioned to keto. I've lost 40 lbs. since then. I've taken the last few months off for the holidays but still watching what I'm eating. I'm happy to say I've maintained my weight. I will be starting full force again in the new year. I have not noticed a whole lot of difference with my anxiety and depression but I feel any little bit helps. I also have SAD, seasonal affective disorder, so this time of year is difficult anyhow. I'm hopeful by next summer to be at my weight goal, and plan on incorporating this eating into a lifestyle. Hope this helps you😀

      @Cameron - I've been on disability for the past 10 years for severe depression and anxiety; I'm just coming out of a six-month depression (and I'm talking wearing the clothes I sleep in constantly for weeks, only going out to grab food when there was absolutely nothing in the house, not showering for days, etc.) so I hear ya. I live alone as well. From what I've been reading about a number of the ways of eating for health - it can take awhile to get the effects of healthier eating, and I mean a lot longer than 30 days. In my case - I've eaten poorly off and on for probably 30 years so it's going to take some time for my body to heal but at least I'm heading in the right direction.

    You could have done better with the “best meal”. There are sooo many recipes Whole30 that are delicious.
    It also seemed like you were having the mindset of can’t instead of can. That makes a huge difference.

    Looks like you had a great experience trying Whole30! To be honest though, some of the things you showed that you were eating are not compliant. There are things that are still against the rules even if the ingredients are technically compliant. All that being said, I would love to know which Hum vitamins are 100% compliant. I had to cut them all out on my round and would like to know before I start my next one if any are safe.

Clearly, we're still sorting through what is and isn't Whole30 compliant but to the best of our knowledge, we'd recommend Flatter Me, Gut Instinct, Base Control and Wing Man.

I would love an update to this blog post in the future with a comprehensive list of compliant supplements. I love your products and have been taking them for a while. I also had a great experience trying Whole30 and lost almost 17 pounds in my 30 days. It is something I will mostly continue going forward but am trying to find products that are compliant along the way too.

      From what we read on the Whole30 website, dried fruits are allowed but they warn people to include it "cautiously" -- now we know why! In any case, even without perfect compliancy, we were impressed with the results of this experiment!

      I ate plantain chips and "whole30 compliant" snacks (homemade pudding, baked cashews, even "cake", as long as the ingredients were compliant), like a wild person and lost 40 lbs last year. Natural sugar is totally fine. The reset only eradicates unnatural things like processed sugar and added hormones.

      Mrs. Adriann that is fantastic! But what you did was paleo based, not whole30. Whole30 is paleo technically, but stricter when it comes to food rules. For example cake, pancakes, etc. aka “sex with your pants on food” (what the creators call it) is not allowed. Even a pancake made with just egg and banana, while technically having compliant ingredients, are not allowed. I struggled with that but I understand why now: it’s to change how your view what “food” is and your relationship with it. The purpose of whole 30 isn’t to replace junk food with “healthier” substitutes and recreations of traditional “junk” foods, is to make you realize you can survive without “pancakes.” The reason for this is that your Brain is thinking cake, it’s thinking pancakes, etc, so despite you eating a “healthier” option, many people feel deprived of the honest to god “real” thing. Might sound strict but that’s why the creators stress they don’t want people to do whole30 strictly for an indefinite period of time. They stress the importance of reintroduction of things whether it be trying grains or even just making healthy substitutes of your favorite junk foods, because they want you to live your life. And they call that whole7 or whole9 (I forget exactly). So what you did wasnt really whole30, but instead paleo. Now that’s not a put down AT all. What you did is AMAZING and you should keep doing it. It can be called whole30 reintroduction or paleo, but not whole30

      Paleo allows for much more than Whole30. I read the things, I understand "the point". But telling a person that they're use of something is wrong doesn't change what it is. I didn't struggle with sweets, I only had a small struggle with carbs. I eat meat, fruit, and vegetables now and I love it - because the process resets your body and your pallet no matter how you do it. You learn to feel and desire sustenance from whole, and natural sources.

    Is legumes and grains not "whole" food? Seems a bit misleading...whole foods just means foods that are as little/no processed as possible and closest to their natural form. Whole fruits, veggies, GRAINS. Basically, for a 'whole food' diet, if it had a nutritional label on it, it should contain 1 ingredient to be a truly whole food. If processed/packaged, it should be minimally processed, have a short list of ingredients, and every ingredient should be easy to understand what it is.

      The foods that are left out are the ones that are usually the "inflammation culprits." I really didn't think much about inflammation until I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Hypothyroid, an autoimmune illness; then began reading about inflammation and it's been discovered that's what generally causes heart attacks is...inflammation. Some people have a real issue with bowels and flatulence with legumes, others don't. (My mother is quasi-vegetarian and eats a LOT of legumes but has no issues with those things...I have a lot of trouble with it.) It's fairly common knowledge these days that dairy can cause issues for some people including a lot of congestion. Grains basically turn into sugar in the system and, of course, refined sugar is never "good" for anyone, etc.

    I loved your video! Thanks for sharing your experience with Whole30. I think I’m ready to try it. I’m sure you’ve tried all kinds of different products for your skin, but I would recommend a lotion called “Kiss My Face” (the one with Vitamin A & E). Not only do I love the name of it, but I’ve been using it for over 20 years now and people always say how young I look for my age. You’ll want to apply it to damp skin or wet your hands first because it is a bit too thick on its own. It says body lotion on the bottle but I use it on my face and everywhere else. It’s non-oily and won’t sting after you shave. Yes, it is very kissable because there is no taste and it smells naturally great with no added fragrance. Good luck with your diet!

    That chocolate bar is NOT allowed on whole30 so beginners get a real notion of what a 30 day reset is. That is not compliant, at all. Also, a whole pack of dried fruit really is a lot of sugar for a whole day :( if you keep feeding your “sugar dragon” it keeps getting harder to stay away from sweets.

      Adrienne Holliday I felt the same way but nutpod and cinnamon were a lifesaver! After one week I hate sugar in my coffee now which is insane. I was a frappucino lover through and through and terrified of missing out on the sugar. But seriously I've tried at least 10 different creamers/dairy alternatives but nut pods don't even compare! Super creamy and lots of flavor. You can also find discount codes online

    I want to try this so bad just to see if I have any food sensitivities. I've had GI problems since I was a freshman in high school. I know there is a number of causes such as stress and genetics but the fact that I eat pretty healthy now and still have issues kills me. Wonder if some of it could be attributed to certain grains or dairy. I'm pretty sure I am allergic to lentils as I had a beef and lentil soup one time and it irritated by throat and now I'm afraid to try anything new like quinoa or couscous.

      I highly recommend this reset. I did it, mainly, to figure out what was my trigger food for migraines. I found out it is gluten so I eliminated it from my diet. I also found out, during the reintroduction phase that dairy is major inflammatory for me, I had pain all o er my body for the following couple of days after trying dairy out so I also removed that! Overall eating naturally is better for your body and it’ll show on the scale but you will also feel it! The ability to know the effect that each food group has on you or to find out sensitivities is a major part of this program, so do it because it’ll really be a life changer. I’ve documented my journey on my blog where I have recipes (whole30 and regular), weekly food journals from my program with picture and description of every meal, posts on meal prep and other things that’ll help you through your journey.       Lol. Since Whole30 is really more ingredient restricted, I was reading ingredient labels like crazy but not looking at the rest of the nutrition label. NEVER AGAIN!

      Yes! Zena here. I was doing yoga a few times a week during this challenge which was already in my routine.

    So many problems with whole 30! It is a restrictive diet which can cause and provoke disordered eating. Once the 30 days is over you will go straight back to your old habits and you will binge on the foods you haven’t had in 30 days!

      Allison Case unless you stop eating some of those foods willingly! If I drop junkfood & see that my skin starts to glow I’d probably keep it off forever!

      Not any more than usual! I was doing yoga 3-4 times a week before I started Whole30 so just kept that going throughout.
