Using Wheel in Forza Motorsport Multiplayer Was A Bad Life Decision

- No one asked me to try a multiplayer race on the wheel in Forza Motorsport. I didn't have to subject myself to this. But I did it anyway. I have strong regrets because it went even worse than I would have imagined.

Well would you look at that, they're adding radar with update 10.
Enough people must have complained about that to happen lol.
I should install it again, and maybe give racing a go.
It's very basic but it does get the job done. Now we just have to get folks to use it and pay attention to it
It was ok if you use distance instead of time between cars. The arrows would tell you if a car is near and the distance would tell you if you are clear. Of course, you don't know precisely where you are positioned in the race, but you usually still can tell if you gain or loose on someone by checking the distance at the same spot on the track compared to previous laps. Oh and I usually go with dashboard view cause 1 it's more immersive and 2 the camera is positioned a bit further back and higher up in comparison to hood view, so you see a more of the road ahead and can judge your cars dimensions better.
Plus it's a good training for your situational awareness which helps anticipating where other drivers will be.
I generally drive cockpit and I thought it was just because I suck that I don’t find the arrows useful. A radar or rear view mirrors would be so helpful in this game.
Me too but I do suck.
@@Cit9y yeah, my statement unfortunately does not absolve me of my lack of skill, but it is comforting to know that good drivers struggle with the same thing.
Proximity radar launching anytime soon 👍🏻
Apparently today’s update includes a proxy radar. I quit Forza and refused to pick it back up until something like this released.
Wheel can work and feel right on Forza. I promise you. Getting the right settings and tune matters. I've gotten a 1:37.9 on Hoxkenheim before in the Ford GT and low 38s on multiple cars. Proper ffb settings and a decent tune matter. I have all my starter tunes on Forza GT under GT Tunes, pinned by Picasso. Also my latest FFB settings are in my last video. Give those settings and one of my forzaverse listed tunes (I'd recommend the Ford GT as it is fully refined) a try.
I started watching this video and thought, this guy needs to talk to Kaylos. Hopefully, he gives this a shot, this game is so much fun on the wheel once you start getting things dialed in.
Lol just after i recommended u.. i scroll down and see your comment 😂
I prefer wheel tbh but my times are very similar whether on wheel or controller
@@kennelly1066 I'm about 2-3 seconds a lap slower on controller and I'm a menace on the track in terms of car control, but I'm old. Hands cramp up after 15-20 minutes on controller as well.
@@nightdrvavenger2087 I appeciate the shout out, but I don't see your comment.
I did some research on wheel setup and feel comfortable on FM. I use chase cam for starts and then bonnet when i have room. Im slower and less competitive online than controller but still have fun and can manage mid pack finishes. Yes ACC is better. Yes FM needs rsdar.
Yeah the arrows are shit.
I think I'm about to get dive-bombed untill I see that the guy behind me is 2-3 seconds back..
You are really going to love reading the update 10 patch notes after your arrow issues
Two words: proximity radar
Wierd to see my ferrari as a rival. I was on the wheel in that ferrari and for the last 6 or so years
The way I got used to the wheel was Rivals at the Nordschliefe in FM7. I just kept driving until I figured it out. I'm a lot faster with a wheel than a controller and racing is so much more fun.
Also, the new radar is really good. Only tried it in SP so far but it's far better than the arrows.
Recovering from any mishap or collision on wheel is near impossible, but we struggle on... 🙂
Your race went about the same as most of my races. A little push here, a minor mistake there (with big consequences) and all of a sudden you're fighting for last place...
No one in the devs play the f1 games. The arrow stays white and it becomes red when any part of the oponnents car is side by side with you.
This isn't difficult.
I’ve been using a wheel and cockpit view for FM7 & FM8 GT Multiplayer since 2020 and I’ve somehow managed to get 52 victories! But have been rammed probably about 3,000 times 💀
Also people in S rating ram the most and TCS in sport helps a lot with the wheel
Consider me impressed.
Thank you JD for mentioning the bloody arrows, I drive on wheel in cockpit view and the arrows, well I just ignore them now as they don't offer any meaningful information when you need it, I thought I read somewhere that FM was getting a radar, or is that me hopeing.
I also drive in cockpit and have actually turned arrows off cos they end up being a distraction more than a help. Instead I just use a combination of mirrors/screens (in the cars where you can actually SEE them) and the time gaps on the mini leaderboard.
And yes, we are getting a radar in the next update tomorrow(?).
Turn 10 is adding proximity radar with today's update 👌 so those arrows are no more of a concern
I do enjoy the viper in hood view as well as the Porsche
Just to add that these are the improved arrows. It used to be worse than that, but they updated it to have your car as the reference. Dar from ideal, but makes the not so useless as they were.
WAIT WHAT? There was a version of this where your car WAS NOT the reference? oO
What was their reference point, McDonalds in 5th street?
Well my first comment about kaylosJB disappeared so i post it back.. 😂
With his tune i can keep up with some of the ESV guys on most tracks but the wheels settings needs to be on point too
The lack of a car radar is the main reason I refuse to pick this game up. Modern racing sims pretty much spoil me.
Just in time for Radar to drop
I've only tried wheel once on Forza Motorsport, went back to controller after about three races. The handling was bizarre, i kept getting massive oversteer moments in cars which would normally suffer from understeer. When i was facing the wrong way enough that i got lapped in a 5 lap race, i surrendered 😂😂😂
Sometimes it's wise to hold up the white flag
ive had alot of friends say they want a wheel for horizon and they dont believe me when i say its just not that good, fun yes but youre gonna be slow.
closest comparison i can give is using a flight stick for war thunder, the game is made to be playable more than a sim so you dont NEED that degree of control
Can’t wait for your video about this new great update… lol
You know me well
The default setting for wheel are not good and it did take me awhile and quite a few videos to get it pretty good. Controller can be better as far as rapid steering movements to recover from slides. You are on pace for the most part.
It's so funny to me how Forza, this super accessible game, requires more investigation and problem solving just to get the wheel right than any sim out there.
@@JustDevon That would be an understatement .There was one bloke I watched that really helped was using some of the in game telemetry that showed FFB wave form thingy.
Either way its not straight forward and does not feel good as it comes.
Lucky for you, Update 10 includes a proximity radar that you can customise!
It’s literally the only way I play the game and it’s fine, I don’t get these videos 😭
I gave a g 923 wheel , have been using for 6 months but a set up that works good on a controller is not necessary good on a wheel and vice versa , cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
Controller and wheel require different skill. Controllers always had assist it could never be a 1:1 input. That is why it feels easier to save the car with controller. I'm not saying controller users don't have any skill, it's actually amazing how some are really good with unbelievable laptimes.
Also I now have external view of complete car , as apposed to other views , awkward to get used to but better in the long run , cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
Nice video, thought about buying this game on steam sale but seeing how wheel feels makes me not want to buy anymore :D
Turn the brakes down on you car to 60% to stop locking up. Turn off brake assist.
I played a few times when it launched using the steering. This game is sad. Its anoying with all the understeer when u using an Oversteer car -_-
My wheel is nice on forza, still playing with settings but nice.
I have never been able to make this game function well on the wheel. I tried a handful of the online guides for the g920 and never found one i found enjoyable. Eventually i just gave up on the game. Sucks
I was the same until I swapped it to cockpit view and adjusted the settings, the biggest tweaks for me, ensure your in simulation mode and adjust Acceleration and deceleration in your tune car menu, on controller Acc is high, Dec low, switch them around on wheel Acc 20%, Dec 60% and that keeps the car from spinning out (for me anyway)
Maybe hop off of the bonnet cam and try another one? I know that doesn't fix your personal preference of that cam but until they do something about it. Sigh.
This isn’t just a forza issue - there seems to be a big disparity in grip between controller and wheel on GT7 that a lot of pad drivers complain about or have challenges with initially
Controller was odd to me in GT, but honestly I felt I had no grip with either so it was a skill issue more than anything
@@JustDevon it’s about to get much much worse for grip with new physics update
@@FlashDaggerStudiosonly when you have wear down the tyres,
I bought my wheel for F1 21 and loved it. Was so excited for Forza to come out but that game is made to be played on controller which is extremely disappointing.
I wish I would've bought a PS5 so I could be playing GT7 instead
Try ACC or Dirt Rally 2.0 if you're stuck on Xbox. On PC there are so many more options
Yeah I disagree or I’m a poor ass controller player,😂 I’ve recently borrowed my friends r5 as he upgraded and after finding the right settings which took 3 hours 😅 I’m way faster on 90% of tracks I was average anyway at least in safety A 4.7k skill match making, usually top 10 at least in full lobbies, now I consistently qualify for top 5 after 3 weeks and 4 days, and finish about that….other than the nascar tracks with turns, and the bumpy af seabring is it, I dk the names fully but I know I suck at those anyway nothing input related. But overall I’d say the wheel is better once you get it dialled in however it’s not iRacing or AC/ACC level nor is it a must have.
They just added a radar
Like deployed 👍
😎🎙🏎✅️
...Are you absolutely positive that you don't have a pain or torture fetish of some kind? Its ok to admit if you do, no judgement here.
Well judging by this it’s not the wheel’s fault it’s a massive skill issue. A lot of mistakes I saw
As a pc player forza on wheel is numb and disconnected compared to games like acc
I had the wheel out and tought to myself: hey why not trash on forza motorsport; my favourite hobby, also it brings in the clicks so win win!
I thought I was subbed on this account too, but now I know I am 🫡
