      It still kinda checks out with me though. Maybe she lost her money in their divorce or spent most of the money on her cats? She always loved her cats and I remember her buying a particular breed of cat that cost her thousands. She has a ton of cats and has been shown to drop a lot of money on them for their wellbeing. As for Oscar it costs a lot of money to run a successful campaign when your going into politics and Oscar has only had a average paying job as an account so that money had to have come from somewhere. And as for the last and least assuming guy of all I always got confused as to where a guy so seemingly dumb managed to scrounge up that kind of money to buy a bar and as the guy on the video said his explanation was just too questionable.

    The first one with Pam's art is sweet. Gil has no reason to lie or be polite, since he doesn't know Pam is listening. Pam understands this, and that's why it hits harder than anything anyone could say to her face. I also love the magic moment at the end where Michael is still proud of her drawing (in the same episode). Michael confirms that no matter what she is, or stives to become, his Dunder-Mifflin family will never be undeserving of his love. Just brilliant 3-dimensional character-work.

    #1 - Not a theory, you’re just describing character development.
    #2 - I think I’m in the minority saying this but I totally agree and think this is completely probable theory. There are so many episodes where Oscar describes business, investing, finances, he really know his stuff. And the ex con episode Kevin tells camera crew he had Martin explain what he did to go to jail because “it sounds a lot like what I do here every day”, Kevin also talks normal in the very first episode or two. He doesn’t start talking “dumb” until after that. I believe he answers Pam’s question and says “Yeah, you’re probably right” and he says it completely normal. It’s the first thing Kevin ever says and it’s also the ONLY time he doesn’t say dialogue in his “dumb” voice. He’s also a talented singer/drummer combo-not an easy task for someone labeled stupid. He’s also a good golfer, which is more of a mental game than a physical one.
    #3 - Definitely true.
    #4 - Definitely Toby, Gabe, Robert California, or Creed.

      As for the hints for fraud, in Goodbye, Toby in Oscar's cutaway he explains Ryan is arrested for fradulantly fixing numbers to fool shareholders. This is something that was going on for a number of episdoes but was continually ignored, even though EVERYONE was knowledgable of it in Scranton and did not hide it (which means corporate knew). I think it was when soemone outside the office (possibly Karen after Branch Wars) saw the fixing of numbers amd Ryan was thrown under the bus. Otherwise, why would the company bring him back on? And Oscar was quite confident in being in the clear even though he works in accounting and would normally have had his numbers audited to make sure real sales added up properly.

    My theory was always that Jim messes with Dwight all the time because, at least at the start of the series, he is secretly jealous of him. Dwight has many interests, aspiration, business ventures and is totally comfortable with whom he is and even if he isnt the best at things he does or if he comes off as geeky or weird to others, he never tries to pretend he is something he is not. Jim on the other hand hates his job, is rather bland as far as whats shown of his hobbies and interests outside of work, clearly wishes he could be doing something else with his life and there are multiple instances where he comes off as "fake" or ingenuous. Jim is insecure with himself while Dwight does his own thing and doesn't fear rejection for being who he is. Jim wishes he had a passion for his job like Dwight does and things to look forward to and get passionate about.

      Nah Jim is just having fun. Ask anyone who likes teasing people, it's always best with someone who gives you a big reaction. There are people like Dwight that are so passionate and bizarre, they lack all social cues and are fun to mess with - it's just reality. Jim is the every man. The audience can connect to times they thought someone's quirks were otherworldly, and if there was a camera filming, they'd look straight at it. There is Jim in all of us, and I might add, a little bit of Dwight in all of us.

    • @christinemagnuson705
      @christinemagnuson705 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would say Jim has no desire to live like Dwight - he likes the simple life. He enjoys humor (and like many of us) is amused when someone can't tell how extra they're being. We've literally all felt this way about someone without a hint of wishing we were them. He and Pam are so great for each other because they see the world the same way. Should Jim have jealousy or some sort of fascination with Dwight's "passion" or "quirkiness", he would have sought out a partner with those qualities. He enjoys Dwights quirks, but in no way relates to them or wishes them upon himself.

      Finally someone who gets it!! I hate it when people bring up this point in theory discussions. Ultimately, serial killers want recognition for their killings. The reason why Toby seems "remorseful" for helping convict the wrong person is because it's not remorse, but regret. He regrets allowing another person to take the fall and credit for what he did. Up until this point in the show, Toby has literally failed at everything- his marriage, his daughter, Pam, etc. He realizes this is his one "accomplishment" and he regrets someone else taking credit for it.

    Jim still had feelings for Pam and even admits it to Karen. So even if there was no Karen Jim would still be interested in Pam, but hesitant to get close to her again. So when he realized Pam's feelings for him he asked her out to dinner and dumped Karen.

      @Aveteran Player
      Karen was just a distraction for Jim because he needed a wall between himself and Pam.
      Jim did the same thing to Katie. If anyone was a fantasy in the situation it was the guy that Karen wanted Jim to be.
      Jim and Pam got married and had two children.
      That's not a fantasy.
      So that means Jim's feelings were REAL!
      There were two Jim's.
      Scranton Jim and Stamford Jim. Karen wanted Stamford Jim.
      Pam wanted Scranton Jim.
      Jim even admitted to Pam that he wasn't himself since he had come back.
      So no Pam wasn't a bitch for wanting Jim to be himself. If expressing your feelings for someone makes you a bitch then so was Jim by telling Pam he loved her just a few weeks before she was getting married. Also Jim staying with Karen even after he admitted to having feelings for Pam shows that she was just a distraction because Karen staying with Jim gave him the excuse to keep using her for his own means.
      That's why Jim dumped Karen for Pam when Pam expressed her feelings for him on the beach.
      Karen was sad and desperate for staying with
      Jim. That's why she was so eager to get Jim out of Scranton by moving to NY.
      Karen let herself get hurt
      by staying with Jim.
      The J/K relationship was real for Karen, but not Jim.
      It was Karen that cried for weeks while Jim was already buying Pam an engagement ring.
      For Jim, Karen was out of sight, out of mind.
      Karen was irrelevant to him.
      However, that never happened for him when it came to Pam, which also made Karen foolish because if Jim still had feelings for Pam while in Stamford, then why would NY make a difference?
      Jim and Karen's feelings were just one sided.
      In the end it didn't matter for Karen either because she got her own happy ending.

    Gabe is the Scranton Strangler. Gabe showed up around the time the Scranton Strangler did. Gabe was late to work during the chase. Toby was way too focused on getting the "Strangler" off because he knew they had the wrong guy. Toby and Gabe are both very similar in the ridicule they endure on a day to day basis; Toby uses hunting the strangler to get his mind off the failure that is his life, while Gabe uses the stranglings for the same reason. Toby is hunting someone exactly like him, and doesn't know he's hiding right beneath his nose. It's Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty.

    My theory: Robert California (The Office) is the same character as Raymond Reddington (The Blacklist).
    It seems crazy but the more I looked into it, the more and more clear it became. Robert California sounds like a fake name, he is very mysterious, brilliant, rich, extremely confident, and has a super-human ability to read a person. His eccentric personality allows him to drive to Florida (not fly, hint) and personally talk Dunder Mifflin CEO Jo Bennent out of her own job. And the first episode with him is literally titled...... "The List."
    Raymond Reddinton is just hiding out in Scranton, PA because he is a criminal mastermind (#4 on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives), until the perfect time comes for him to "suddenly" turn himself in after 20 years of evading the FBI.
    Scranton to Washington D.C. is about 250 miles, close enough to keep an eye on Elizabeth Keen but far enough away that no one would know him.
    And another small detail, both shows were NBC so its possible they could be in the same universe.
    Anyone else ever think this?

    • @jdrussell3828
      @jdrussell3828 6 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Corey Shaulis Thats not a bad theory. Robert California is definitely NOT his real name and this is made clear twice.
      #1 After Andy is fired by Robert, he is able to steal a big client from Dunder Mifflin. He calls Robert to gloat in which Robert threatens Andy and says "You don't even know my real name. I'm the bleeping lizard king."
      #2 After David Wallace buys back Dunder Mifflin from Sabre, Robert introduces himself to David as Bob Kazamakis. He then scams David out of a million dollars so he can mentor young female gymnasts.

    • @tonyblake7569
      @tonyblake7569 6 ปีที่แล้ว +67

      I saw in another video about that theory. In that video they said the theory was Toby was watching a news feed on his computer how the cops were closing in on the strangler, Toby got worried they were after him so he took off but they were after someone else. That's why it was on his computer because if he wasn't in yet no one would have been on his computer, they would have been watching it on another computer. And the phone call was him calling, probably called reception first but no one answered and he knows his own extension, to see if someone could check his computer to give him an update. So in that video it wasn't his car so he didn't need to get away.

      But what if both Toby and George were the Scranton Strangler? I guessing there are a few options:
      A - Toby starts as the only Strangler and then George Howard teams up and gets caught instead. Either by his own mistakes or framed by Toby.
      B - George starts as the one true Scranton Strangler, Toby tries to copy him, George gets caught, Toby visits him and George snaps as he sees Toby's word on the trial is worth nothing to defend him. Toby feels bad but at least he's off the hook now.
      In any case, I would like to know the truth about the case, but I too like that things stay open for the audience to figure it out or talk/argue about even after all these years.

    For the accounting theory, a branch can be more profitable even if they make less revenue. They have two top 10 salesmen in the company (including the #1) two good accountants and a slight overstaff which would work out well to dominate a rural area.

    The first theory is not a theory, its actually true! That's why that scene of that dude being critical was there. It was the moment that Pam realized what people thought of her and she wanted to change it.

      They did to Jim and Pam what they did to Andy though towards the end. They had given Pam growth only to then have her be insecure and immature about her feelings. At least they redeemed her towards the end compared to Andy that only got a slight redemption in the finale. They also had Jim become a distant workaholic only to resolve it by having him settle in Scranton again.
