It ran over what I like to call a "tree urchin". It's a tree which looks like it's covered in sea urchins. If you try to walk through one, it's like moving through concertina wire. If you shoot it, it blows up like a shrapnel bomb. Charger must have done enough damage to it to blow it up.
@@snail1635Those plants got a damage buff in a recent patch. Also, remeber when the eruptor had shrapnel? It could kill a charger with a few shots placed under the belly. The fire volcanoes introduced in the new biome can kill titans, so it's not outlandish that prickly plants are meant to kill chargers. Not to mention, the unexploded hellbombs are an even more obvious example of the devs giving us opportunistic weapons.

@@snail1635 Also, normally a charger would hit that prickly plant with a leg or its face, and the hitbox of the shrapnel coming out wouldn't be under the body, where here it got ramped up to be about waist height with a helldiver, thus exposing the underside to the full explosion of thistles! :D Just an observation of a one of a million incident.
If you slow it down and look closely, the thorny plant that the charger ran into blew up. The "blue beam" is shooting out from the bush, away from the charger. I'm not sure why it died instantly. Probably some shrapnel shenanigans that we don't quite understand.
I like to imagine that Joel or some AH devs in general are just randomly joining our missions as invisible toons and just laser-snipe mobs when bored to keep the Illuminate conspiracy going within the community. And for fun.
It’s literally just one of those spiky plants. not the blue glowing ones, but this not well-known spiky plant and it does make this weird blue laser color. Trust me, I was confused at first but if you hit those they go flying and will kill you. They also damage mechs and cause them to explode. They should honestly remove it because then people make silly explanations and theories like this when in reality all it takes is some game knowledge to understand it’s not illuminate lasers
Look closely at the rock he collides with, one of those thorn bush plants was on it and exploded when he touched it. They make blue flashes like that when destroyed
@lafayettemclaren5195 I'll admit the beam looks weird, but if you go frame by frame it seems to come from the bush. And yes these things make blue flashes when they break, go find one and run into it with a exosuit

2 weeks ago we were playing with a friend and my SSSD fell under the map which meant that it teleported back to the place so he ran for it and at the same time I was defending that place and there was a Bile Titan there and I was on the rise but because of automatic shifting during sprint I accidentally jumped on it and suddenly after that it exploded and I died from it together with the Titan, the strangest thing is that I didn't use any stratagem or anything like that and the Titan itself was untouched and my friend couldn't do it because he ran for the disk
The Illuminate snipers in HD1 could insta-kill you. Thankfully there was usually a warning to indicate where they were going to fire. I wonder if this is a test to see how they’ll work in HD2.
I had this today too! I thought it maybe counted the attack as a shot or something and played that blue ricochet animation upon hitting a rock? But it doesn't make sense when you think about it. Terrain doesn't cause blue ricochets, for example. There's its unlikely to glitch out like this.
On specific planets there a a specific type of bush that when hit by any form of damage will explode and more often then not kill anything caught within it instantly and when a charger gets shot by anything that can’t penetrate its armour those projectiles will create blue sparks on its armour. So it was probably the plant unfortunately
Sometime ago I was playing and I was alone, separated from my group facing down a charger. Then I noticed something was causing damage to the charger, something I couldn't see. No muzzle flashes or anything. Just visible damage appearing as I observe the charger trying to get me. Has anyone else had something similar happen? I like to think it was guardian angel Joel or an unknown enemy/ally
that gun you we're using has a habit of creating weird deflections that manifest as blue beams, i've seen it happen in other clips. though it sounds insane, could it have been one of your deflected shots from earlier?
Nope, sorry, you've to watch it in 0.25x: The charger hit that rock frontally & very hard. This led to blue lighting effects in the vicinity of the charger's cranium, shortly sparks appear & finally a beam of light shoots out FROM this region (remark: it appears instantly, i.e. no movement visible, but it seems to lose intensity in an outward bound direction & in regard to the prior lighting effects an outward bound source is more logical). So, maybe the charger hit its head too hard & cracked something "explosive", like in a flint stone? *lol* Don't think ARROWHEAD implemented such a mechanic, but that needs to be tested ;P
It died before anyone could shoot it idk what happened
you have been blessed by The Illuminate
I’ve seen chargers kill themselves by running into walls, I’ve even seen them take out bug holes doing it too.
Play this on .5 speed and you’ll see that it also hit a blue plant. You can see the brush fly off it
