@@unknown-eu5ed He needs a truck built and designed properly for the severe duty use he is putting it thru not some patched together light duty crap like that clapped out old pickup truck,(I am a 40+ years mechanic with ASE and other specialty certifications), for about 7 years I worked at an outfit that used to build specialty off road trucks and equiptment such as forest fire fighting off road fire trucks, ambulances, mining trucks and recovery vehicles, and bless his heart he tries and does help with no charge for people, but with the stuff he is trying to use being horribly not up to the task being asked of it he had better never get tired of constant breakage and repair, as I have seen from many of his vids that is the way of it and quite expected, but the specialty vehicles that outfit used to build would be way out of his pocket book anyhow because the cheaper ones used for stuff like this started at a quarter million dollars 30 years ago when I worked there, but they would never break like his truck does.
@@looseballs1966 The problem is not his truck its the fact that people are getting heavier off road vehicle and using them. Does he need to upgrade probably but if you watch the other off road recovery guys they all have upgraded they fleet as well. But they have the money to do so unlike BSF .

The BSF wrecker is a K30 chassis, it's also one of the more reliable wreckers you see at the events they go too. Because it's small things breaking normally.

Awesome to see Abby helping her dad today and sounds like the misfire in the wrecker is getting worse. Sounds like a good time to fix the flywheel, winch rope, misfire and hydraulic issue. Sounds like a lot of work coming up. Not to mention that the front axle is broken on the jeep. Abby is the only one who didn't break down.

you know if yall went to a 12 valve cummins in the wrecker and a nv4500 it would solve a lot of issues, power, weight in the front end and more gears not to mention 1st in a nv4500 is lower then what the th400 has

looks like the jeep wrecker needs to be put on hold because you have some main issues to contend with on the square body wrecker
Haven't got to the video yet. Waiting for commercials to play through. But I think that the Jeep wrecker needs to be finished so that the old square body can get a full make over.

Erik looks like you need some heavier rear leaf springs or extra overloads so your truck wont squat so bad!

Fun fact, get you a starter for a 98 ish half ton 350. Fits just the same and it's a factor mini high torque starter. I did that on my 92.

I've been there trying to haul hay bails on the back of a tractor. Luckily the tractor had drag brakes on the back wheels so I could still "steer."

It was a bit of a role reversal towing out that line of Jeeps. Haha, I've been on the hook a time or two, happy to lend a hand where I can.
if you pick the boom up higher it will help to transfer the weight forward on the steering axle .I used to have to do that on the old holmes 500 wrecker back in the 70's when towing a heavy truck to steer.😊
I used to put 20k in the back of a box truck that was only rated for 26k gross (so roughly 10k overweight) had similar steering issue😂😂. The day I had 3 people sitting on the hood for counterbalance the state trooper who observed (luckily I was in the parking lot) this made it extremely clear that I should rethink some life choices and maybe make two trips😁😁
Had a 3/4 ton International truck with a engine pulling setup like a A frame front and back of bed and a 6" I beam with chain hoist down the center of A frames stuck out the back for enough to pickup engines. Had a car body hanging on it going to the scrapyard past the place twice because front wheels were barely touching the road and it wouldn't turn. Do not kniw how I made it to 63 but had lots of fun.

Eric i think the wrecker needs some serious upgrades for sure. It is a workhorse and something u depend on a lot i think if you put some time in on the wrecker it can be better then ever.
If you do go get the other truck i would make sure you have back up just in case

I towed an x-cab Ford Diesel off of Donner Summit a few years back. They are really heavy. Luckily I had recently had the rear springs rebuilt and over-loads put in also. My 78 GMC was in much better condition than this one though
You should call up Freedom Winch Lines and see if they can get you some neon green Trail Mater line! Then Rory will be with ya in spirit. Which won't help things from breaking at all, but at least it will be fun!

Maybe time for a bigger wrecker? A lot of the stuff you pick up looks a bit oversized although interesting to watch!

Sounded like it was starving for fuel or got some bad spark plugs. More reason why I think the wrecker needs an upgraded LS Engine. Maybe once you get Blondie done, that can happen for the ol wrecker

Sounds like time to redo the red truck to handle these bigger diesel trucks. Diesels are getting more popular in theoffroad world due to fuel mileage and reliablity. I'd love to build an offroad tow truck using an OBS F-450 with a powerstroke engine.

Listening at the engine in that wrecker--man I would not feel too comfortable taking that rig too far unless IT was the one on the trailer. Bad, bad misfire--sounds valvy or upper block cam, lifters, etc. I would just go and buy a pre built turn -key 4-5 hundred horse power mill from a reputable builder with a warranty and call it a day. Don't care what anybody says --you can't screw around like you are and have something that will really please you !!!!!!!! Jim

Wrecker seems like it needs more low range like a doubler set up or 536 gears to help with some of the heavier loads
If you're gonns tow that Ford in gear, be sure to have the engine running to help. Or with the engine off, take it out of 4wd and out of gear. Just a kindly suggestion.
