The best part of this video is hearing kilometers over and over , over and over again and again!!! Kilometers, Kilometers, Kilometers, Kilometers, kilometers 😬
Thank you for continuing to create videos and amaze us. I've watched many TH-cam videos about space, but you’ve managed to find facts and perspectives I haven't heard before. Everything here is top-notch-from the content to your calm and soothing voice, and the way you dive deeper and more complex into the topic in an easy-to-understand way without oversimplifying it. This balance is hard to achieve, but you are a master. Your videos are truly a highlight of my day/week, and I listen to them every night, until the algorithm switches to The Infographics Show about the CIA while I sleep, and then I wake up and play one of your videos again. Thank you for everything you do.❤
*_Thanks for making complex topics easier to understand_** ;* _(very important today)_ Especially in a time when fake science runs rampant on the internet, with many mocking the science, they don't understand. This channel, combined with (History of the Earth) has a masterful way of mixing science & the history of science together. You expertly show us the steps science has taken, to get to the understanding we have today. _A pure joy to watch._
This is true of course but the occurrence and intensity of ignorance is not, now, for some reason, worse than it was in, say, 1900, 1840 or even 1980... quite the contrary, I would say. Rather, the problem is that the imbeciles have a place to tell us they exist and they seem especially keen in making us aware of their dumbass incompetence. You can rest assured your average peasant in late 19thy century Germany knew orders of magnitude less about the world, even as a relative percentage of what was knowable.
It's a damn shame how so many anti-science trolls and peddlers of conspiracy theories, pseudoscience, and misinformation have been allowed to propagate nonsense. There are definitely alternatives to the TH-cam-based science communicators and members of the "scientific establishment." In spite of that realization, junk science is *NOT* an alternative to well-established fields of academic science. The same is true regarding pseudoscientific claims and theories (e.g., flat-earth theory and the Electric Universe) presented as undisputed fact and the scientific consensus reached by experts.
As far as I’m aware, it’s classed as a sub-brown dwarf (planetary-mass brown dwarf), which are also referred to as rogue planets. To be fair, the definition of what exactly a planet is does seem to get kind of hazy around the margins, but nonetheless it seems to be a planet in some fashion or other, just not necessarily a bound planet.
Additionally, the idea of TRES 2B being "pitch black" wouldn't be true on fly-by as this video suggests, as the large amount of light hitting the planet's surface would more than make up for the planet's dark surface.
Almost to a Million subs! You guys deserve 10 Million subs. This is BY FAR the best channel on TH-cam with under a Million subscribers…. Honestly, it’s one of the best channels period. Thanks for the amazing content!
This show saves me on a regular basis. Thank you for keeping things in perspective, giving me humility and the knowledge to know such hands need not carry so much weight.
I really wish it weren't true, but ever achieving FTL travel is likely impossible. The time to the nearest planets would take centuries and will likely never be shortened. The rules of the universe and causality really do seem to forbid such travel.
Off to bed, cup of tea, and leftover sweets. The sweets are remainders from those we had over after all the trick or treaters have finished for the night.
You have some of the best videos about the cosmos which is why I wish you would do something more in depth and if you're worried about using too much mathematics, the people who appreciate this stuff would also appreciate the techniques by which these ideas were derived.
Thank you for another great video. these have helped me more then you know. When I'm sick and my condition has me just beat down, I play these and just zone out to them. they help me so much. Thank you again for all the channels you all have.

@@ecbrown6151 Definitely in agreement there. Humans will almost certainly never find one we can actually reach. It's a bummer, but just the stats tell me that life pretty much HAS to be out there somewhere. And that's just cool to think about lol
@@xorret1 who knows what our future generations might achieve, if we break physics then the universe becomes a much smaller place, that’s big IF though. It’s a long haul though.

You got it wrong about the planets being found around the neutron star. They didn't find them by Doppler shift they found them by looking at the timings from the pulsar and their cyclical shifts in timing arrivals with delays

Don’t go so fast! Post a 2 hour video and we will watch it! You guys are awesome!
It’s been proven many times that J1407b is NOT a planet with rings. It’s a failed star (brown dwarf) with a protoplanetary disk
Well, I bet you're fun at parties. ❤
And just because the planet Methuselah is in a really old globular cluster, does not mean that the planet is very old.
Whatever your definition, it's still a wonderful testament we can observe these objects and deduce their characteristics
Additionally, the idea of TRES 2B being "pitch black" wouldn't be true on fly-by as this video suggests, as the large amount of light hitting the planet's surface would more than make up for the planet's dark surface.

16:07 unfortunately this model has been debunked. The planet doesn't have a massive ring system
It's likely not even a planet, but a brown dwarf and its accretion disk.

J1407B is not a gas giant, its likely a brown dwarf that passed by a star but not gravitationally bound to it. The rings are a protoplanetary disk
