Thanks Rod, appreciate the kind words and support! I wasn’t able to get the Tuono set up, but certainly will next time I have it out there. 🙂 How’s your weekend going?
@@hiimchad All good thanks, suns out in the uk and been out on the Yamaha fz1, want an Aprilia Tuono v4 so your videos are a great source of info 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@rodmiller9229 I’m glad you’re finding them helpful! Also glad it’s been sunny over there, the FZ1 is a great bike for a long, sunny ride 🙂 Are you thinking about getting a Tuono in the near future?
Dave moss is incredible. When I got my 17 the previous owner had no idea what they were doin and the ride was scary. I had to change every setting but using a video on his website for setting up an rr for a guy the same weight as me I hit it spot on snd changed the whole bike.
Dave is a legend! Such a nice guy too. It’s amazing what a few clicks can do to a bike. I still need to dial in the Tuono Factory, but it doesn’t feel too off as it is. I’m sure there is something to be gained, though. 🙂 Did you set the sag yourself or have help?
@@hiimchad I ballparked it myself but I'm 225lbs so realistically I need springs fr and rr. I still gotta raise the forks up in the tree 2 rings too. But im just street at the moment. I might just add 15w to both forks and a lil less air volume and try to fool it as im debating doing the same as you and gettinba factory at the end of this yr
Thanks man! Really appreciate your support! 🙂 I love making these videos and will definitely continue to! Is there anything you think I could be doing differently that would make them more interesting or fun to watch?
Brilliant video Chad 👏🏻👏🏻. I thought you might have been ok on Pirelli Supercorsas even though there obviously not a full sleek i would have thought they might have offered enough grip? I use them for fast road riding over here and love them although ive never rode on track with them so it was interesting to hear your thoughts about them. 👍🏻👍🏻 Adam 🇬🇧
Thanks Adam! I don't have the Supercorsas, I'm running the Diablo Rosso IIIs, which are the standard tire on the Tuono RR. The previous owner had replaced the original tires with those not long before my purchase, so I figured I would give them a shot. For what they are, I don't think they're a bad tire, but it's apparent they're quite a few steps down from the SC or a Dunlop Q4, and again, jumping off my track bike on slicks with 50 less hp to the Tuono on tires that are like 3 or 4 levels below a slick was a recipe for slides. 😅 I've never ridden Supercorsas, but the Q4 Dunlop has to compete with them are excellent, so I'm sure the SCs would be too. 🙂
@@hiimchad Long story. Very senior guy. Haven't ridden in 10 years. Little club racing back in the day. Want to get back in the saddle. Taking delivery on an RS660 this week.
@@edpalafox6328 congratulations! That must be very exciting, especially after being out of the saddle for so long. If you don’t mind my asking, why did you take a break?
Thanks, Pez! I would have liked to take one out as well, but they only had the 660 bikes there on this day. Hopefully they'll do another event later on in the year with the new 2021 RSV4 and Tuono V4. I'll definitely sign up for that! 😁
Lovely Video Chad! Yes that scary moment at 14.35 got me jumping off my chair too! Why don't you put the slicks on the mighty Tuono V4? I have the same Rosso 3 tyres on my Tuono V4 RR too. Felt they were a bit lacking when going faster through corners. Hope to get better tyres for the next track days. Keep up the good work buddy 👍
Hey Satyen, I appreciate the kind words and support! That was the biggest moment I think I’ve ever had on track where I’ve recovered, and it didn’t seem like TC was helping out too much, might try running that on a higher setting next time. 😅 I like to keep the Tuono streetable, so slicks are out of the question unless I can score a second set of wheels. I agree though, the Rosso IIIs are not a great tire on track. Once these are finished, I’ll probably replace with a Dunlop Q3+ or Q4. That should make things more manageable 😁 What tires would you choose if you were to upgrade?
@@hiimchad Since you mentioned Streetable - the 1st tyre which comes to my mind is the Metzeler Racetech RR K3. These tyres are like slicks but with treads. My riding buddy has them on for quite some time on his BMW S1000RR. He is on his 2nd set currently. Regular track guy, but also wants the bike to be ridden on highway runs & canyons. He has had no issues with these tyres at track days too. In fact, even I'm going to get these on my Tuono after my current set of Rosso 3s wear out. Hope this helps :)
@@satyenarke I appreciate the recommendation! I'll take a look at those once it comes time. 🙂 I'm usually a Dunlop guy, and have been riding the Q3+ on my Tuono RR, and the Q4 on my Daytona before going to slicks. I think the Q4 is similar to those Metzelers, so would be interesting to see if someone has a companion review of the two. If not, maybe I can make it. 😁
Random questions. Aprilia doesn't mind customers bringing two bikes even if 1 is not an aprilia? And what convinced you to do a van setup vs a trailer setup like stinger trailers?
You don't need to bring any Aprilia's at all! Motorcycles by any manufacturer are welcome, Aprilia just provides demo bikes that you can ride on track. I chose the van over a truck/trailer because I wanted something enclosed but had no space to keep a trailer at my old condo. The van, although a bit big, does fit in most normal sized parking spots. It checked the boxes, and I still love it almost a year and a half later. 🙂
How do you have such clean onboard audio? I own a Tuono Factory, fresh off a Street Triple 765 so I can relate very much to your engine sound affinity, cheers man!
Congrats on the upgrade! And I must say, you have great taste, both in your current and previous bike. 🙂 As for the audio in this video, it's just the microphone that's built into my GoPro Hero 5 Session, nothing else! The clarity of the audio might have to do with where it's positioned, mostly out of the wind on both bikes for the on board dash views. How do you normally mount your camera when recording?
Hey Chad, nice video. I found your channel when i wanted to compare the Factory to the RR. Im considering which one to buy. My heart says the Factory naturally but my wallet says the RR! I too test rode the 660. Did it back to back with the Factory. Nice bike but the analogy that came to me was, a junky doesn't go back to smoking heroin after hes injected it! I need that 1100. Anyway, subscribed to your channel. All the best from Ireland.
Hey Paul, glad to have you on board! Thanks for subscribing 🙂 The RS660 was fun, but definitely left a bit to be desired for me. It and the Tuono 660 are excellent options for intermediate riders, but I’m guessing you’re a bit beyond that, in which case you may as well go all the way 😁 The RR certainly isn’t a bad choice, and is honestly more comfortable on a daily basis. But, if you can find the right Factory, it definitely feels a bit more special! Best regards from California! 🙂
Great video! Like the growl of the Daytona but liking the thunder of the Tuono more 😁. Louder growling next time please. Why isn’t there a roaring lion emoji?? APPLE FIX IT! AND YOU TOO, GOOGLE!! Maybe you can find a set of pre owned forged wheels from a RSV for the track Tuono. They are rare but a bit of patience 😉. I think they’re the same size as the orginals on your bike.
Glad you enjoyed, Ken! Would you have preferred the view of the exhaust I had used the last time I went to that track? I think I recall you commenting on that video as well. I’ll have to use that same angle again the next time I have it at the track! As for the forged wheels, I’m very happy with how the bike handles for now, so those would be lower on my priorities list. But, they would certainly be nice to have someday, and they are indeed the same size as my wheels, and a direct fit to my knowledge 😁
Hey JW! Glad you're finding value in the channel! I've actually seen a big uptick in views and subs in the past few weeks, I figure because I've been posting somewhat regularly, which I hadn't really done before. If you don't mind me asking, how did you find me on TH-cam?
