Extract text from images using OCR in Power Automate Desktop - 2024 guide

In this video we will examine how to use the in-built OCR functionalities that are available in Microsoft Power Automate Desktop.
In previous versions we would need to action the engines separately, but current versions allows you to handle everything needed in a single action.

Was a bit disappointed to see it's only extracting from an image despite the video referencing PDF - though I do know we can extract text from a PDF already but wondering if we have to convert a PDF to an image in order to run the OCR on it?

How can we extract text from a PDF with power automate. I am looking for a solution that doesn't require having to manually write script for parsing as that solution is not reliable and can not work on different documents because of different formats, design and content of the document.

Hey - you guys are right! I will change the title of the video, and make a new one covering extraction of text in PDFs. Can I ask, would your need not be covered by using "Extract text from PDF" on your PDF files - why would you want to run the OCR on it? :)

@@MatKjeldsen Hello, i hope you could answer my question but is it posible to use extract text from pdf and then to give a list of keywords that the ocr will need to extract ? as an example we could use the pdf you used in your video, what if i want the automate to extract me only the order number and some extra info like the order date. thanks for your answer
