Hello everyone, I’m a Flashiholight. I’ve been hooked on flashlights my whole life and can’t walk past one in a store. This one looks like it isn’t a floodlight but is a spotlight. Given its four modes I think I have to buy it unless I’m in San Francisco and then I’ll steal it. Thanks for the review.
Here's what I like about this light. 1. it's beefy which should mean more room for batteries and longer run times 2. the magnet base is strong and holds well 3. the different light modes mean that I can put this light in a ton of different angles configurations to fit what I'm doing at the time (under dash work vs lighting an area under the hood vs performing an inspection) 4. the price is very good I got mine with a 15% coupon with a 2 year additional warranty for under $70 with tax 5. the detents on the light bar are tight which should keep it from getting floppy like my snap on did Here's what I don't love about the light 1. it's beefy which means it takes up a good deal of space in what is many times a cramped spot already 2. the extra length and weight mean that while the magnet holds strong when the light bar is extended even to normal length that is a lot of leverage to easily knock the light free from what it is stuck to. I've dropped it twice in short order so I may be testing that warranty out earlier than expected. 3. the UV light is mediocre at best there are cheap rechargeable options with awesome output for less than $20 4. the light doesn't remember the setting it was on previously so I have to cycle through each one each time I turn on the light instead of hitting the button and it being where I normally want it. Without exaggeration I have over 20 led work lights and this one would probably rank highly but just like all my others if you work with them long enough there's always things about them you'll find you don't like. In all reality the slim bar icon light is a better workhorse because of it's size and the memory feature.
Good video Brady. I’ve been wrenching for many years and have accumulated many lights over the years. I always seem to go back to my streamlight bandit. I have 2 of them and rotate them throughout the day as ‘high’ mode gives you about 4 hours of light. They’re a headband style, cost about $40 off the Snap On truck, keeps your hands free and they’re disposable..after about 3-4 years you toss them in the trash.
SWEET! Do not spray with brake kleen, got it. I have a couple of the small icon flip lights, they ran a sale and I picked one up for $30 and then bought one "open box" for $20. I will be on the look out for one of these... maybe I'll find one returned with some brake cleaner damage. 🙂
@HowIDidIt I heard it here first, thanks for the review (you nailed it). I bought one yesterday, its your fault lol. I got 20% off with my ITC membership. I turned it on in the store and the guy next to me ran into a shelf, it was so bright I didn't mean to temporarily blind him.
Does the cri side show swirling on auto paint well? That is what most high cri lights are used for these days, spotting scratches and swirls when polishing auto paint.
Not in my store yet but cant wait to grab it tho,one thing i love about the bruan lights is one of them can swivel the light but the icon is so much brighter and battery life longer but the swivel helps me so much when i cramped in a spot and need the light slightly left or right
so i think the brake clean got to it as the body of the light is probably a sort of polycarb blend, so chemical resistance might still be decent with the exception of that. what i am curious about is what battery it uses and if its swappable cause i've gotten plenty of lights that use 18650 cells and half the time they're some cheap cell that only is rated for 2200mah, vs something like a samsung 35E which clocks in at 3500mah. after the swaps they to tend to be notably brighter and even have a longer life per charge at around 2/3 to 2x as long
This is 3rd video i have watched and each person that reviewed seem to like for most part. The one thing in common they did not like and light failed misrabley was chemical resistant test that it claims it has. Each test used small amount of brake cleaner and boy the light did not like it, Being this new harbor freight might wana address this before they produce a boat load!
Good video, I’m definitely picking one up. Does it have any memory? If you turn it off and then back on does it go to the light setting you had it last?
Hey, I got this light but didn't get an offer for purchasing a warranty and haven't seen any indication of lifetime warranty. I was wondering if you got any offers for warranty or it may just be stuck with 90 day warranty all other stuff has.
@@tetradgroupThat’s an excellent point. Idk if anyone offers a warranty beyond 90 days for a shop light now that I think about it. I don’t own any snap on lights but do do you know if they offer a lifetime warranty on the ones they make?
@@xephael3485 Glad to hear all is well. About the same for me finishing things up around the new property we got and trying to keep the bills paid and got some winter projects lined up lol
Astro makes the best mechanic light on the market, and it will take abuse and keep on trucking and brake cleaner doesn't do anything to the light just no uv light
Copy Snap-on much LOL ... if you set the bar light on low and turn it off and turn it back on is it still on low or do you have to work that button again ?

I just bought the first one in the area. They havent even put it out on the shelves. Love it.

I have been using the Braun 500 lumen and it has been holding up well and can be had with coupon typically for $25.
I appreciate the “deal” update!
Nice review. First video I’ve seen that you created and i like your approach. Good job

Can you unscrew the battery cover? I use the braun with an external 18650 charger and love hot swaps into the light

Simple green works great as a mild cleaner. Used it last on some only screw drivers.

You might be able to upgrade the battery in the Braun to get a longer run time.
Nice shop!
That Bobcat is way too clean. Who has one that clean?
Awesome Brady
It’s not on Harbor Freight website as yet I’ll make a stop my local store
Thanks
Log in to your and search..(I HAD to) I just bought it from a store near me
Hahaha
They just listed this on there website
Now is the question should I purchase it now or wait till it gets on sale!!
Cheers
Gonna get

Get the Braun detail light if you want a high CRI
Nice and slim for tight spots
Snap-on Replica

It's similar to my Streamlight Stinger Switchblade with an ICON body on it...
I jyst purchased this from Harbor Freight 👍
Good video, I’m definitely picking one up. Does it have any memory? If you turn it off and then back on does it go to the light setting you had it last?
Get a rag. Spray some brake cleaner on the rag. Rub on the red part of the flashlight. Watch the results.
Better than the 500 lumen milwaukee light you made a video on?? Obviously brighter just curious
I had the snap on version of this..expensive junk...bought an off brand light for 8 bucks...works great
I just bought one today works amazing.. recommend

@Bluesurge12 I didn't get an option when I purchased. I would only expect the 90 day warranty on this item.
@@tetradgroupThat’s an excellent point. Idk if anyone offers a warranty beyond 90 days for a shop light now that I think about it. I don’t own any snap on lights but do do you know if they offer a lifetime warranty on the ones they make?
I bought the all black metal body, slimmer version of this, also by Icon today in store at my local harbor freight. I did get offered a warranty.
How long does battery last? Kinda looks like an Astro light
Meaning actually last, not just stated on package
I like your disappointment with the brake clean test... I'm guessing this doesn't have the lifetime warranty like their hand tools?
Xephael how have you been ... long time no see my friend
@@CountryMileGarage hi hope all is going well with you! I've been trying to get a bunch of crap sorted through before winter hits 😮.

Any info on type & size batteries it uses? Built in or replacable?
I would bet it’s a replaceable 18650 lithium rechargeable battery based on its size and the usbc charging port.
$60 dollars?! Wow!
To high for me 😢😢😢
You can buy 2 compare to snappy!!!
Great!!!!
@@philliphall5198 to hight 😂
HF must have pulled it off the selves. Not listed on their website anymore
yep.....
HF took this down off the website as of 10/23/2024 @ 0900 EST. Anyone know why?
@justinvanaulen2478 Wow, you're right, it's not there. I have no idea.
Probably to address the chemical resistance issue
What's the price
4:10
Copy Snap-on much LOL ... if you set the bar light on low and turn it off and turn it back on is it still on low or do you have to work that button again ?
Yes it will remain on low
WD-40 works great to clean things like this.
bruh i just bought the snap on version of this
Looks like the same light snap on has for 250
$60 is bit much
Snap on gets 150 for the same thing
$60 is a deal for a Hi-CRI offering.
Thats all? @garysgarage.2841
Cheap ass people
Nice features, but is too big for me. The 800 lumen Icon is the size of my hand and slim when folded.
They didn’t specify what chemical it resist.
60 seems steep. Lights are a dime a dozen.
Hi-CRI lights are definitely NOT "a dime a dozen".
@mattmanyam think that if you want. China is making them by the ship load right now. Zero need to pay a premium
Maybe 38 bucks 😮
pretty much a copy of the streamlight switchblade
This isn’t even sold at harbor freight
yes it is i just bought one yesterday 🤷♂️ you need the sku# its not out on the floor to the public yet
Eh, this is a mediocre find. If it was $30 id say it would be a score. But its bulky, and basic.
Most HF products are of low quality and don’t last. HF sockets and wrenches round off fasteners.
They are making much better stuff now. Especially the icon brand
not Icon products
The impact sockets are well liked by many users. The quality of their other items has also greatly improved.
I bought an icon ratchet to try and what a joke I'll spend the extra on a Snap-on lol ... hell Gearwrench is even better imo
@@CountryMileGarageSomething tells me you didn't.
