The Saints Williams trade also includes what might be the Worst Trade That Never Happened since it is said they offered all of the picks to the Bengals first who turned them down so they could draft Akili Smith
@@lukefreund08 That might not even be their worst, David Klingler was just as bad, and Kijana Carter had even worse injury problems. Peter Warrick feel way short of expectations as well, and so did John Ross. He could almost do a whole video on Bengals first rounders just covering the 80's, 90's, & 2010's.
Yep. Would have been even worse if that had happened. Washington at least took a HOF corner with those picks. Cincy in the 90's would have picked nothing but crap. That was Mike Brown's drafting skills.
Thank you for starting this list with Steve Largent. When you go back on film, it boggles my mind how smooth he played (no gloves by the way) and how easy he could at times make it look getting past the defender. The guy was a QB's best friend and for a young franchise like Seattle, that's probably the best compliment you could give him. Also the fact he would walk into the stadium alongside regular fans endeared him heavily to the Seattle area. When you think of how Houston couldn't get past that Steeler wall in the AFC and the fact they let a Hall of Famer go for that cheap...
Part of the reason the trubisky trade was so bad is because San Francisco WASNT drafting a QB. The bears sold the farm (or at least all the equipment) just so another hypothetical team didnt trade up in front of them instead.
Yeah but that happens all the time. Teams don’t typically make that kind of deal unless they have intel that another team was definitely going to trade up for that pick if they didn’t do it themselves.
If I was a GM I would call teams and bluff about moving up or picking the player they want, just to get them to do something stupid...then laugh like hell.. especially to teams in our division I would mess with them constantly... Is that wrong?
The Tunsil trade completely changed the trajectory of the Dolphins. One of the Texans 1st rounders turned into the pick that the 49ers traded 3 first for. That trade gave the Dolphins Waddle, Hill and Chubb.
yes but tunsil has been what we wanted, so obviously the trade didnt go in our favor but hes been a 4 time pro bowler for us so hindsight is the only reason this stings
Lets not forget that after the 2 years with the Vikings, Walker went back to the the Cowboys and performed like he did before he got traded in the first place
Yeah, when he went back, they had Emmitt Smith, so Herschel was just a third down back & kick returner. He played good when they used him, but there was no need for him to be a full time starter anymore.
I think the Bears-Panthers trade this year should be up there. - Caleb Williams or Marvin Harrison Jr., 2022 9th overall pick (The favorite for DROTY was taken here), DJ Moore and 2 2nds for Bryce Young, who has been awful and likely doesn't have the size for the position.
There's no reason to talk about it much yet when year 1 isn't complete. Bryce has looked more competent without Reich (even if he faced a Joe Barry defense) and he's got zero supporting cast. Despite that, he's still put up 2 game winning drives (and Carolina had 2 from 2018-2022 iirc). He needs reinforcements badly and I'm hoping Carolina obliges.
I definitely think this one is pretty bad, I think the fact it doesn't have as much long term effect makes it not as bad as others for sure, but yeah they really messed that one up.
What’s crazy about the Hopkins trade is the cards were desperate to shed Johnson’s’ salary. They had no takers since he was over the hill but then boom a star receiver for basically nothing.
One deal from back in the day that should be on this list, or at least close to it, was the 1970 Paul Warfield trade. Not only did this trade help the Dolphins win 2 super bowl titles, including a perfect season, but the reason the Browns made this trade in the first place was so that they could acquire QB Mike Phipps. As a general rule, i feel like whatever you think its worth giving up to acquire a potential franchise QB, trading away your no 1 receiver is a really really bad idea, since it makes said rookie's job a lot harder than it otherwise needs to be
The only trade I can think that belongs on this list that wasn't mentioned was the STL-WSH trade that landed WSH RG3, it didn't go well and then a few years later when the two teams played, the captains of STL to come out to the field for the opening coin toss were the six players picked from the picks WSH gave up. Jeff Fisher was a lot of things for STL, but this troll job was LEGENDARY.
RG3 was the OROY that year and had the highest rookie passer rating and TD/int ratio at that time. The problem was his stupid coach sent him back into the game when he was already injured, and he got seriously injured.
Fun fact Steve largent wasn’t just the all time leader in receiving yards when he retired he was the all time leader in reception and receiving touchdowns as well
In 2009, the Bears traded a second round pick to Tampa for former #4 overall pick, DE Gaines Adams. The guy never had a sack for Chicago and sadly died the next year of an enlarged heart. That second round pick was passed around two more times and wound up with the Pats, who selected some guy named Rob Gronkowski.
This is a great list. As a Giants fan, I have to put the Craig Morton trade in there. They acquired him in the middle of the 1974 season in exchange for a package of picks that included a 1975 first-round pick, which ended up being the #2 overall pick because the Giants were so bad. The Cowboys used the 1975 #2 overall pick to draft Hall of Fame defensive tackle Randy White. Morton was terrible with the Giants, and then to add insult to injury, they traded him to Denver and he made it to a Super Bowl there. The 1970's Giants were horrendous.
The difference between what Dallas did with all their draft picks in the Walker deal and what Washington did with their picks from the Williams deal is absolutely astonishing. Dallas ended up with multiple franchise players for years propelling them to multiple Super Bowls, whereas Washington got a decent LB for a few years and an above average RT for a decade which provided no success.
That jack links sponsorship might unironically be one of the best YT sponsorships I’ve ever seen. It was short, it was simple, and it made me want to eat some beef jerky 💀💀
The Russ trade probably wouldn’t even be top 5 if it wasn’t for the stupid extension. But considering the extension was more than likely part of Russ signing in denver, it’s justifiably lumped together.
How is the AJ Brown trade not on here? The Titans went to the AFC Championship then were the first seed in the AFC traded Brown and went 7 and 10 and have been shit since
I keep hearing they coach great... while they throw out their best but wt are they actually doing with their personnel? They rebuilding or making a retirement home for Henry? I don't get it. The past two seasons have been painful, seemingly self-inflicted.
The Hershel Walker trade is the worst because the Walker deal included MORE picks if the players traded to the Cowboys got cut. Which, they did. The trade made the NFL draft a cornerstone market to be taken seriously as opposed to the cavalier way it was treated before. The cowboys ended up with around 4-6 extra picks because the players traded to them didnt make ANY of the benchmarks that would have allowed the Vikings to keep their draft capital. Still beats out the Watson trade, because the Browns are competing much sooner than the Vikings did. Other than that, great list.
I would agree but the running back position back then was way more important than it is now. When you look it was more of the Cowboys defense and Emmett Smith that basically won those Superbowls. The Vikings wanted someone who was starting to decline but they realized it too late. If they knew the trade would've been different. While the Browns wanting Watson was a horrible move and to pay him for something he hasn't even earned was beyond stupid. I would easily put that over draft picks. You never pay someone that much money until they earned it.
There's 2 other bits that make the Watson trade even worse. Baker is playing good ball down in Tampa (also played well in LA last year). And of course the Joe Flacco situation. They got the guy off his couch and he's playing significantly better than Watson despite the "rust" and being quite a bit older than Watson. Not to mention Flacco got the Browns a playoff berth and unlocked Njoku finally.
Flacco is playing in the exact same system he played his whole career in Baltimore in as Gary kubiak was his offensive coordinator and stephankski comes from that coaching tree it’s meant to make tight ends thrive ( Dennis pitta) how the chief is in Cleveland now also half of those wins from the playoff birth came from Watson who is 5-1 as a starter and Flacco is 4-1 with a chance to match his total at seasons end… stop being prisoners of the moment and on your feelings about a man who was proven innocent of all accused of it’s disgusting.
As a giants fan with no other team to root for, I would go full all in on the Flacco, but then I remember the predator gets a ring. Though on second thought, Flacco getting a ring puts a cherry on top of this downyear of a football season
He beat every case emphatically with court documents to prove it was a money grab yet yall still call him a predator seems really weird to hate on a guy that was never criminally convicted of anything or civilly proven to commit such acts he didn’t even be want to pay off the women because he was so innocent but to put his team first he did anyway and yall over here hating on him why again?
People always forget that Ricky Williams was traded to the Dolphins by the Saints and got multiple first round picks for him, and then Williams immediately had one of the best statistical seasons by a running back ever.
Trey Lance had trouble’s with SF because the QB coach at the time was leaking Trey’s struggles to the press, and Trey even admitted that he was getting help in Dallas that he wasn’t getting in SF
I thought that looked awful before a single snap was played. You don’t sell everything but the kitchen sink for a project quarterback from North Dakota State. Especially when you have Jimmy Garoppolo, who was a fit for the system when healthy. That’s a pick that could’ve been a first rounder had they not made the trade, and I could’ve accepted the potential of it without the benefit of hindsight. If this were any other organization the coaching staff and front office would be gutted
Everybody on the coaching staff gave Brock more looks and more guided help before we even knew how good he was. Brock also said that he wouldn’t have been ready for that Dolphins game if Trey hadn’t been helping him to the weeks leading up to Jimmy’s injury
@@nicholasselke5214 They tried with Jimmy G for several years, he was not enough to win a ring. They needed something better, and its gunna be the same case for the 49ers this year too. Unless you have a star QB, the chances of winning the only thing that matters in the end is slim, as history shows us.
I can see the Saints picking up Russ. Carr is washed, so they are going to need a new QB. I don't see the Falcons picking up Russ because they are likely going to stick with Ridder for at least one more season. Panthers already have their hopeful franchise QB, and the Bucs are doing solid with Baker so far.
Brett Favre was an alcoholic in Atlanta so I believe if the Falcons kept him he would have been a career backup. Therefore I think it rightfully doesn’t belong in this list . I would say the Colts giving a 1/3 for Carson Wentz was one of those “what the hell?!? trades” as well as Sam Bradford from the Eagles to Vikings for a 1/4 was extremely head scratching . Both of those were the Eagles sending an ineffective injured quarterback for 1st round picks.
Actually, Bradford played well in his first season in Minnesota. It was his injury in the second season that hurt. If he had stayed healthy that year, the Vikings would have been the first team to play a Superbowl in their home stadium.
@@shawnjohnson9763 Bradford was hot garbage from the start. He tricked many in his first year with what appears to be highly efficient play but in reality the man was nothing more than a check-down king, racking up high completion percentage and a good TD-INT ratio but he couldn't push his offense down the field. He was the epitome of the shortcoming of the NFL rating system, which gives a QB who goes 3 for 3 for 9 yards (and a 4th down punt) a higher passer rating than a QB who goes 1 for 3 for 33 yards (with a new set of downs 33 yards closer to the end zone).
@22steve5150 He did a lot of check downs that year because he had to learn the offense on the fly and had no offensive line. He started the second year on fire but got injured. He would have been way better than Keenum.
@@shawnjohnson9763 I don't know about his second year development prior to injury, but I watched him play on team after team once he became a journeyman and he played the same way he did his rookie year. Great for a backup and decent for a run first team, but he was way too much about small-ball and it kept leading to good stats in low scoring losses and that is what did in his career. Now it's not all his fault, if he just for some reason never got out of that mindset from his first year, the team GMs could have at least set up offenses to take advantage of his strengths and minimize the weaknesses, namely develop a tough running game and get small, nimble receiving targets who specialize in catching short and evading a tackle or two to extend the play on YAC yardage.
walker trade should always be number one, If for no other reason than the media roasted jimmy johnson Is and jerry jones so bad for it, Sports media has never been as wrong as it was about that day
As a Vikings fan, the Hershel Walker trade should be on top. The picks that built the Dallas dynasty are just the tip of the iceberg. As my uncle would tell me every year during xmas we also traded a bunch of good players that we could not resign after Dallas cut them. This traded is the main reason Chris Carter does not have a ring.
I’m not so sure they cut him, at least this offseason. Any general manager who chooses to incur a dead cap hit of $85 million should be ousted and blacklisted from professional sports or any financial management position. They might seek a trade partner but you just don’t incur that massive of a dead cap hit for a player who had a touchdown to interception ratio better than 3:1 If you’re out of the playoff race, or barely hanging on by a thread, it makes sense to take a look at the backup quarterback Besides, if Russ is to be cut, I’d think he would be inactive for the final two games instead of QB2
I know everyone is probably thinking that the panthers Bryce young draft was not the worst ever but just the fact that we got rid of CMC, DJ and other draft picks for a QB that was good collage no doubt but is undersized and a huge part of his game was going to be taken away deserves to be a honorable mention.
We should wait. We're going to have to see what the Panthers make with Bryce Young, because it's clear that he's actually a pretty good quarterback who has literally nothing to work with.
@@DoctorCyanyeah, it's the latter part of your statement that makes it a bad trade. We are possibly crippling Bryce's career by removing all his weapons before he even gets off the ground.
As a Bears fan, i will always hate the Trubisky trade. Add to that the Chase Claypool trade too. A terrible wr living off 1 good season. That was Poles' first big miss off him at GM.
Thank you for mentioning the Claypool trade. That belongs on here over Mitch. At least Mitch has the following accolades: highest single season QB rating for a Bears QB, only Bears QB to throw for 300+ yds in a playoff game and most recent Bears QB to make a Pro Bowl(which broke a league worst 33yr streak of no Pro Bowl selections for a Bears QB).
I told my friends at the time that the Seahawks should trade their entire draft class to move up and take Aaron Donald and everyone called me crazy. I've never been as sure of a player coming out of college, and in hindsight he would've been one of only a handful of players in NFL history that actually would've been worth trading an entire draft class for.
Feel like the punchline for the ad should have been “no matter what flavor you’re feeling if you trade it you’ll be on the worst snack trade list soon enough”
I was expecting Carolina trading up to draft Bryce Young only to hand the bears the 1st overall pick the next season would have made the list but I guess it was too soon to truly evaluate because I guess in theory Young could still be good
Ill say to you what I said in another comment, watson was throwing less than 200 yards a game, and barely had as many TDs as games played... the team looked no different with him at the helm as it did with DTR Watson was regularly placed in the bottom third of all QBs in the league, even under kenny pickett in the beginning weeks, he barely cracked the top half of all qbs on his last game when he got injured and has now played about 40% of the season 2 seasons in a row now... as a browns fan, and irregardless of what people think of him off the field. I have to say... FK Deshaun Watson
Dude he was horrible 90% of the time. And as a Steelers fan, he was still not the worst QB in the AFC North thanks to Kenny "Jr Whopper Hands" Pickett. And now they probably have the best QB play they have had since coming back into the league with King Eyebrows Flacco.
@@denisfolcik1373 he played no more than 3 games straight before getting injured and on his third he played really good despite the teams not being good but he also fucked up bmore and outplayed Lamar
@@Brohemoth1991 it definitely looked different from Deshaun and DTR and he played didn’t play more than 3 games straight so it’s hard to get it going when he can’t stay on the field. I think he’ll be a top ten qb if he can stay healthy for a season
@@MatthewDiTomaso the team isn't that good? The Brown's have a top 5, maybe top 3 roster outside of QB. Dude was cleared to play but sat out, so only playing a few games in a row was his own fault. He is either washed up or doesn't care since he got guaranteed generational wealth with his contract.
No, they won't because Kevin Stefanski was reason they will never make it to Super Bowl. Not to mention that head coach was cancer in locker room as well.
Seattle fan here, where is the Jamal Adams trade on this? Both the picks we traded away turned into defensive and offensive rookies of the year, and Adams has played maybe 19 games
The crazy thing about the Russell Wilson trade is that it legitimately could have gone the other way and been terrible for Seattle and amazing for Denver.
the worst part about Cleveland's trade is that they would've been fine with Baker had they just been patient. Their defense this year is obscenely good, and they really only need a quarterback to reliably control the offense and avoid mistakes to win. Instead, they hamstrung themselves for a player in Watson who's playing worse than Baker and costs significantly more. Worse still, it doesn't even seem like Watson gives a shit. Mayfield was far, far from elite but at least he cared about the team.
And after watching him in Tampa it’s OBVIOUS he has excellent potential. So happy they found a gem in Flacco but they did Mayfield and the fans DIRTY with that trade
Watson went 5-1 at qb in his 2nd season with browns and not horrible stats. I’d still do this trade again, he’s already restructured his contract once and is open to doing it again for the team.
In the words of MJ: Stop it. Get some help. Seriously though, you can't look at the team record and say it's because of Watson. They're also 11-5 and beat the 49s with PJ Walker at QB. The browns such a great roster they might eat the Watson trade and win anyway with him on IR.
@@TophuPaintlol the only one who needs help is you 😂… I get it man you don’t like Watson as a person but he’s still a good QB he’s proved it this year. Go and watch the cardinals, titans, ravens and Bengals games front to back and come back to me 😂
Of all the trades...That Ricky Williams trade would be close to number 1 in every list...if washington didnt drop the ball on all their acquired draft picks
Washington Redskins used one of those picks to draft Chris Samuels who played in 6 pro bowl games. They also drafted Champ Bailey 9 overall with the Saints pick. We won the trade but Snyder and the Redskins front office were such a disgrace......
The Walker trade was more important for the history of the NFL while the Watson trade was worse. The Walker trade made the draft what it is today but it was only a historically bad trade because of the Super Bowls the cowboys won.
if anyone wants to know what the Saints Pick turned out to be after the Ricky Williams trade they were 1999/1ST: Cade McNown (QB) 1999/2nd: Pro Bowl and Future Super Bowl Champion (CB) Dre Bly 1999/3rd: D’Wayne Bates (WR) 1999/4th: Nate Stimson (LB) 1999/5th: Khari Samuel (LB) 1999/6th: Desmond Clark (TE) A 1 time Pro Bowler (although was a injury alternate) 1999/7th: Billy Miller (TE) 2000/1st: Future Hall of Famer LaVar Arrington 2000/3rd: Lloyd Harrison (CB) So they really missed on 3 Key pieces players that
The Walker trade is still worse than the Watson trade. Watson at least had 19 TD to 12 INT and had 465 Rushing Yards with 3 TDs. The Vikings basically gave the Cowboys a Dynasty and Walker only rushed for 2,264 yards and 20 TD in 42 Games in Minnesota. The Vikings went 6-10 and 8-8 in the 2 full seasons with Walker in the backfield and by 1991 Terry Allen was averaging more yards a carry. Watson trade may not be great, but the Texans aren't a Dynasty because of it.
I really don't get the hate for the Trubisky trade-up. Yes they selected the wrong guy but the capital given up was hardly anything when compared to other similar trade-ups. Also if there is one sure thing about rookie QBs it's that their situation is a good indicator of their career success, so it's very likely Mahomes isn't the same guy if he goes to Chicago.
I would argue that if we only considered the trades themselves and not the subsequent crazy contract extensions with loads of guaranteed money that the teams signed their bust to, the Walker trade would probably still be number one, the Watson trade would only be mid-list, and the Russel Wilson trade would be at the bottom or not on the list.
I’d say the trade for Bryce should have been up there. The Panthers traded away DJ Moore, the pick that turned out to be Jalen Carter, and their pick next year, which will most likely be the number 1 pick. DJ Moore and Jalen Carter have been lighting it up, while Bryce Young has sucked and they also lost the rights to draft Caleb or Marvin Harrison Jr.
I feel like David Boston needs to be an honorary mention for multiple trades. Finishes out his rookie contract and the Chargers sign him to a 7 year, $47 million contract with $13 million guaranteed in 2003! NOBODY was getting guaranteed money back then. Played 14 games with the Chargers until Marty suspended him & traded him to the Dolphins for a 6th round pick. He didn’t even make it out of camp for the Dolphins before testing positive for steroids & suspended for 4 games. Then he tore his knee ligaments before he was even served his suspension. Out for the season. Dolphins cut him at the end of his 2nd season - only played 5 games and caught 4 passes for 80 receiving yards for them. Tampa Bay picked him up but was released before the regular season after catching a DUI. Then bounced to the CFL where he caught 2 passes and was forced to retire due to multiple injuries. Boston had SOOOO much potential but squandered it.
It's not a major blunder but the Cardinals giving up a first rounder for Hollywood Brown was pretty silly since the Ravens ended up trading back and getting their guy at Center while it was speculated The Cards would deal Hollywood at the trade deadline.
I agree with the trubisky trade being on this list, but I personally think he isn’t as bad as people make him out it be. He’s by NO means a starting QB. But if an actual effective coordinator made an offense capable of utilizing his fastball combined with his legs I think he’d be a serviceable QB. Not GOOD. But serviceable.
Hear me out. Hershal Walker Trade is the worst. The Brown's are not as bad off as the Vikings were at the end of the trade. If the vikings kept those players and picks they may have come out better and may have even won a superbowl. Instead we have the dynasty that is Dallas in the 90s. What did the brown's end up giving the Texan's? Arguably freeing up the team to pick Stroud, that is it. No dynasty, no big all time great players. So Walker deal is the worst.
A couple of tid bits. The Ricky Williams trade, the 1st rounder in the following draft ended up being the second overall pick. Russell Wilson trade, he did not ask for that contract extension the Broncos gave him. The Deshaun Watson trade, it never had a chance to work and shows a deeper rot in the organization between the head coach and front office/owners. Watson needs to play a certain way, shotgun, roll outs, 7 step drop backs the few times he does play under center etc. and isn't very good at being under center with 3 step drop backs. So can you guess which way Stefanski has Watson playing most of the time? Yeah under center with 3 step drop backs. Watson and Stefanski do not mesh, it was doomed from the before it began.
Yeah totally agree, the Wilson trade I still still think is terrible without the contract because of how little Seattle was rumored to be willing to take for him so I'd still put it on the list. And yeah even past the stylistic matchup, the Deshaun Watson trade is terrible on every single level imaginable and just gets worse the deeper you look into it,
Another thing to mention with the Deshaun trade is the bullshit that happened with his no trade clause and his preferred teams. He refused to go to Cleveland and wouldn't waive his no trade clause for the deal. Then when they baited the hook with that insane contract suddenly.he wanted to go to Cleveland. As a franchise that already had Baker Mayfield, who may not be Tom Brady but he's certainly playoff caliber, and young talent with a future they sold out everything and future cap space for a player that publicly announced that he doesn't want to be there.
Baker is ASS if you don’t have a all Star ready team around him browns had 13 pro bowlers or all pro players around him in his 3 seasons there then he played ass in Carolina but played well on a team that just won the Super Bowl in the rams and the team that won the year before them in the bucs you baker apologist are the worse kinda fans
@@LunaticTheCat No, the Browns should've stuck with Baker Mayfield. In case you haven't noticed their Superbowl caliber roster is being thrown into the sun that is Uncle Touchy's contract with impending negotiations for Nick Chubb, Jedrick Wills and Owusu-Koramoah. The team is so fucking good that the ghost of Joe Flacco took them to the playoffs on the back of 8 picks through just five games. Baker Mayfield threw for over 4000 yards and 28 TDs to only 10 INTs in a really bad year for QBs across the board. He threw less picks than Mahomes even though he played more games. BTW Baker also won a playoff game against the Eagles (who were collapsing, let's be honest), and had a one possession game against the uproaring Lions. Again, Baker isn't Brady, but he's been infinitely better than Watson on much cheaper contracts. The Browns should've stuck with Mayfield and supported the only guy to get them a playoff win since the team reformed. They should've had him rest instead of forcing him to play injured. And they shouldn't have broken records to pay a sex offender to ride their bench. The Browns should've stuck with Baker. Thank goodness for Baker's sake they got rid of him because it was very unhealthy for him, he's much better off, but the Browns aren't. And genuinely if you think the Browns are better off paying a guy $46 million a year, guaranteed, for six games and seven touchdowns then you don't know anything about the Browns, fuck I don't think you know anything about football. But I get it, if you want to live in denial and pretend the Watson trade was worth it then keep praying to whatever god you believe in that he'll magically be elite again next season, cause when he gets cut in 2027 with zero playoff wins and the Browns are set back a whole decade as a franchise, I told you so.
Part of me is glad as a Seahawks fan that the broncos are struggling because it gives us high draft picks especially after we traded ours away for Jamal Adams a few seasons ago. But also, I like the broncos and it sucks seeing Russell struggle.
Little is said about how Miami ended up with the Trey Lance pick, when the Texans traded it to Miami for Tunsil. At the time of the Lance pick, you could have said that Texans trade could be one of the worst ever, but Tunsil has been playing well and it led to them eventually landing Stroud.
Trubisky is not nearly as bad as you say. He led the bears to the playoffs multiple times. He has a 6 TD game. Only 2 active QBs other than Mitch, can say that
That bears team wasn't in the playoffs because of him, they made it because of their defense at the time Also. You brought up two random games like that's supposed to magically take away how ass he is. Hence why he isn't a starter permanently.
Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams is another one that really stings in hindsight Seahawks Recieve SS Jamal Adams} 4th Rounder 2022 (Coby Bryant) Jets Recieve S Bradley McDougald 1st Round Pick 2021 (Alijah Vera Tucker) 1st Round Pick 2022 (Garett Wilson, OROY) Adams is still with the team, but he also has fallen off compared to his time with the jets and is causing issues off the field as well. Seattle would be a very different team if instead of Adams they had gotten their picks back to draft another stud on the O-line and having DK and Garett Wilson on that offense. Maybe not top 10, but really bad in hindsight, considering the less premium position of safety and how confident I am that most Seattle fans would probably trade JSN for Wilson in a heartbeat in terms of production.
What really cracks me up about the Wilson trade is Seattle got two high first round picks, and I stead of doing something smart, they opted to stick with Geno lol
Honorable mention: Washington trading their first rounders and some second rounders to St. Louis so they could draft RG3. It's moreso bad in hindsight since RG3 got hurt badly, AND Washington could've gotten someone like Wilson or Tannehill later on in the first round (or even Kirk Cousins, who they picked in the 3rd round anyway), but the reason it should only be an honorable mention is because of that rookie season being phenominal for RG3, while St. Louis basically did nothing with the picks they got
For the Trubisky thing, I always thought Watson was the best QB in that draft (minus hindsight) and I still think he was the best QB choice (again, hindsight excluded). Mahomes would've definitely busted in Chicago
That's the thing. Mahomes HAD to be in KC. Learning behind Alex Smith during his rookie season made Mahomes much better than he probably would have otherwise.
The Bears #1 pick to Carolina going to be the worst ever. #1 pick in '23 for #9 and #61 in '23. #1 in '24 and whatever they get for trading it this year. A second-round next year, and DJ Moore.
As a Vikings fan that can remember being so stoked for the Walker trade. Thank you. We are not the worst trade in NFL history any more. Eff Dallas tho. FR the Stars and Cowboys. We have seen some Some really bad trades in recent years.

@@benchwarmerbranI agree, somebody knew something.... somewhere..... probably.....! Hopefully 😂

That was the worst part. He clearly tanked on purpose.
The only thing I associate his second stint in Dallas with is getting run down by Adam Vinatieri
So he basically pulled an Al Horford. That's great 😑
Why lie when he went back to Dallas he had 103 yards and 1 touchdown in two season
Buddy it’s year 1. It was in no way a good trade as of now, but this shit just happened.
Too early to say
There's no reason to talk about it much yet when year 1 isn't complete. Bryce has looked more competent without Reich (even if he faced a Joe Barry defense) and he's got zero supporting cast. Despite that, he's still put up 2 game winning drives (and Carolina had 2 from 2018-2022 iirc). He needs reinforcements badly and I'm hoping Carolina obliges.
I definitely think this one is pretty bad, I think the fact it doesn't have as much long term effect makes it not as bad as others for sure, but yeah they really messed that one up.
The bears didn’t get carter but I agree on this one
Keep pumping out the great content Bran!
As a general rule, i feel like whatever you think its worth giving up to acquire a potential franchise QB, trading away your no 1 receiver is a really really bad idea, since it makes said rookie's job a lot harder than it otherwise needs to be
What makes the Trubisky trade so bad is they just moved up the one spot and the Niners weren't going to ever take a QB anyway
Remember when Bill O'Brien traded DHop to Arizona for David Johnson and recalling the trade with the 49ers for Trey Lance 😂

So true for the Seahawks
"Seahawks County Let's Fly"
The difference between what Dallas did with all their draft picks in the Walker deal and what Washington did with their picks from the Williams deal is absolutely astonishing. Dallas ended up with multiple franchise players for years propelling them to multiple Super Bowls, whereas Washington got a decent LB for a few years and an above average RT for a decade which provided no success.

Honestly they might as well just bench Watson and have Flacco start next year.
@@DoctorCyanthey won’t bench him and shouldn’t bench him because they are paying him so much

Trey Lance had trouble’s with SF because the QB coach at the time was leaking Trey’s struggles to the press, and Trey even admitted that he was getting help in Dallas that he wasn’t getting in SF
Dude Trey has looked bad at every snap. Like a late rounder. Nothing about the 'leaks' is why he sucked. The 9ers messed it up and got a bust
Gotta love that Howie magic!(just pretend Reagor & Whiteside never happened)😁
0:35 Let’s take into account realistically that if he got cut he could’ve went to any team have not even close to as good production he had.

I’m not sure the Russel Wilson trade belongs, it’s really the deal they signed afterwards that is back breaking.
I am still laughing at the fact that Denver is gonna cut Wilson so he wont play a single down of that massive extension... Thanks Denver :D
I’m not so sure they cut him, at least this offseason. Any general manager who chooses to incur a dead cap hit of $85 million should be ousted and blacklisted from professional sports or any financial management position. They might seek a trade partner but you just don’t incur that massive of a dead cap hit for a player who had a touchdown to interception ratio better than 3:1
If you’re out of the playoff race, or barely hanging on by a thread, it makes sense to take a look at the backup quarterback
Besides, if Russ is to be cut, I’d think he would be inactive for the final two games instead of QB2
The Panthers trading up for Bryce Young could definitely turn into one of the worst trades of all time if Bryce doesnt improve

Watson definitely played well this year while getting injured twice. Baltimore game?
Ill say to you what I said in another comment, watson was throwing less than 200 yards a game, and barely had as many TDs as games played... the team looked no different with him at the helm as it did with DTR
Watson was regularly placed in the bottom third of all QBs in the league, even under kenny pickett in the beginning weeks, he barely cracked the top half of all qbs on his last game when he got injured and has now played about 40% of the season 2 seasons in a row now... as a browns fan, and irregardless of what people think of him off the field. I have to say... FK Deshaun Watson
Dude he was horrible 90% of the time. And as a Steelers fan, he was still not the worst QB in the AFC North thanks to Kenny "Jr Whopper Hands" Pickett.

The crazy thing about the Russell Wilson trade is that it legitimately could have gone the other way and been terrible for Seattle and amazing for Denver.
Jamal adams has to be on the list. Seahawks traded two first round picks for an average linebacker
the worst part about Cleveland's trade is that they would've been fine with Baker had they just been patient.

You didn’t list the Watson trade as worse than the Wilson one. That’s fucking ridiculous. He’s 5-1 this year still on the team and injured.

As a lions fan I appreciated the Roy Williams trade to the cowboys, they got him on the decline and we got premium picks for him.
if anyone wants to know what the Saints Pick turned out to be after the Ricky Williams trade they were
1999/1ST: Cade McNown (QB)
1999/2nd: Pro Bowl and Future Super Bowl Champion (CB) Dre Bly
1999/3rd: D’Wayne Bates (WR)
1999/4th: Nate Stimson (LB)
1999/5th: Khari Samuel (LB)

1999/7th: Billy Miller (TE)
2000/1st: Future Hall of Famer LaVar Arrington
2000/3rd: Lloyd Harrison (CB)
So they really missed on 3 Key pieces players that
49ers only traded 2 1st round picks. they swapped the 3rd pick, moving up to 3rd.
And a 2025 second round pick. I agree, the bears could be set for years to come if they play this right, sign fields and trade down again.
@@michaelgerhardt7130 They should trade fields for another high draft pick and draft Caleb
You can’t put the Watson deal as number 1 yet. He still has 3 years left. If he flops in those 3 years then yes.
Cowboys winning 3 SB makes the Herschel Walker trade the worst
This is someone who knows too much Ball
Yeah totally agree, the Wilson trade I still still think is terrible without the contract because of how little Seattle was rumored to be willing to take for him so I'd still put it on the list.
And yeah even past the stylistic matchup, the Deshaun Watson trade is terrible on every single level imaginable and just gets worse the deeper you look into it,
I'd still say it's the Walker trade. Yes, Watson was singed to the crazy contract, but the Walker trade included 18 total players.

The Jets trading up for Darnold is very bad as well, given what the Colts did with their haul..
The saints trade is literally not allowed to happen anymore.
Trubisky is not nearly as bad as you say. He led the bears to the playoffs multiple times. He has a 6 TD game. Only 2 active QBs other than Mitch, can say that
That bears team wasn't in the playoffs because of him, they made it because of their defense at the time
Also. You brought up two random games like that's supposed to magically take away how ass he is. Hence why he isn't a starter permanently.
Then why isn’t he a starter ?
Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams is another one that really stings in hindsight
Seahawks Recieve
SS Jamal Adams}
4th Rounder 2022 (Coby Bryant)
Jets Recieve S Bradley McDougald
1st Round Pick 2021 (Alijah Vera Tucker)
1st Round Pick 2022 (Garett Wilson, OROY)
Adams is still with the team, but he also has fallen off compared to his time with the jets and is causing issues off the field as well.
Your Watson analysis was spot on.
Him getting outplayed by flacco is crazy.
Ironically wearing a Lions hoodie in the vid who was apart of one of the best win-win trades of all time (Stafford/Goff)
Deshaun was playing well before he got injured this year that trade could end up not being that bad
Agreed. Calling it one of the worst trades ever is absurd.
@@LunaticTheCatWell these comments aged well LMFAOOOOO
@@alatreon7451 Ya, lol. It's now literally the worst trade ever 😭
I agree that the bears picking trubisky was the word pick and bears history
As a Vikings fan that can remember being so stoked for the Walker trade.
Thank you. We are not the worst trade in NFL history any more.
Eff Dallas tho. FR the Stars and Cowboys.
We have seen some Some really bad trades in recent years.
