do you have to clean the old solder before you install a new component? why? and what are the success rate if you leave the older solder and apply new flux to de-solder component and install new component on the older solder?

Hello, Ihu! I really don t have an recomendacion, just in case, I m using an 80310 and to clean the residual flux I. m using isopropyl alcohol. Best regards

It’s not the correct way, you should always cut an inch strip off first of braid, that way, when you apply heat to the braid, it has no where to go. As you are using such a long piece the heat will keep travelling up the braid as copper is an excellent heat conductor.
