As for Overlanding, it is cool, but just remember if it rains and you have one of those swing out canopies, you still going to get wet between the shelter and climbing up inside the pop-up sleeper.

that FMS Thing is actually a Kubelwagen. WWII car built from 1940 to 1945. it was basically reincarnated as the Thing in 1969 for military and civilian.

I was there on sunday, my first time there, it wasnt as big as i thought it would be. We had fun with a few demos, the soccer was fun until the plane crashed 15ft behind us. Some of the crawlers were cool, which i know nothing about

I liked the trx6 with the hotrod
So The Thing is a post war name for the original Volkswagen Kubelwagen. The Kubelwagen was used estensively by the German Army during WWII as a staff car, reconnaisance car, personnel hauler you name it. It shares the same chassis and motor as the Volkswagen Beetle.
My favorite tidbit about the Kubelwagen & Beetle is that the reason they used the air-cooled motor is that it was the same motor that drove some of their aircraft. If one of the planes was down for a bad engine, they could yoink an engine from one of these staff vehicles and have the plane ready to fly in 2-6 hours!
We used to go the RCX show. Now it is gone. It looks like it may come back. I sure do hope it comes back. Thoughts Mark?
I miss when the RC Expo used to be at the Rosemont Convention Center (Chicago) been years since they've been gone.

Hey Mark... New fan (& sub) of your stuff. I've been looking at getting into Mini-Z, I guess Box Stock classes to start. Have you done much on it or can you recommend some good beginner resources? Back when I was in high school, I did a bit of hobby-grade R/C with my neighbor's guidance, but I had to sell off my stuff. Now I'm in my 40's and getting back into the hobby, catching up on all the tech, and wanting to pass it on to my 11-year old nephew. I started back with 1/14 and 1/15 scale, but the Orlando/Daytona area seems to have an interesting Mini-Z scene that I'm looking to break into, also. Thanks for all the info!

I went with a buddy to the show back in 05’ and it was massive! All the manufacturers were there… this looks sad now.

Really hope the RC Supeshow gets back to what it used to be. It had every major manufacturer there. Plus a bunch of races, crawler events, and try me things.
