Her name is Gauhar Jaan | আশ্চর্য গায়িকা গওহর জান

Gauhar Jaan, the Prima Donna of India.
The famous Indian singer Gauhar Jaan, queen of early LP recordings and the 'First Recorded Indian Classical Artist'. Gauhar born in Azamgarh, north India as Angelina Yeoward in 1873 she became the most famous nautch girl and singer of the postcard era. 'My Name is Gauhar Jaan !', it is titled after the phrase she used, in English, to announce herself after each of her recordings. Gauhar Jaan and her mother Malka Jaan, both famous dancers and singers.
Gauhar jaan was not the first Indian singer to have his/her song recorded on gramophone record. On 8th and 10th November 1902, Miss. Soshi Mukhi, Miss. Fannibala and Mr. N. C. Chakrabarthy had their many songs recorded before Gauhar jaan came to the studio of the Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd, in Calcutta on 11th November 1902. The first ever Indian Singer to record in India was Miss. Soshi Mukhi, who was a 14 year old dancing girl of Classic Theatre, Calcutta. Fannibala was 15 years of age.

She was the seventh Indian to get their songs recorded on Gramophone records. Soshi Mukhi and five others recorded 40 songs on 8th and 10th November 1902. Gauhar jan recorded her first song on 11 th November.
