Guys, this video works. You’ll need a number 9 and 10 torx bit. My tools only went lowest to a no. 10 so homedepot has a kit with it. I used a hairdryer that got my cracked piece pretty warm a couple times, and used two flathead extended bits to pry the bitch off. It worked! Cracked it along the way but it was cracked to begin with, and I superglued the replacement $50 chinesium part onto it and it is paired successfully. I am now the happy owner of a command unit that is not cracked. Hallelujah Reply if you need help
Great video. Thanks. The plastic cover is fused to the touch surface. Cautious application of heat from a heat gun helped separating these two. I stuck the new cover on without any extra glue because the original glue of the touch surface was intact.
You cannot peel off the original Mercedes Benz touchpad, it will break because it is completely fused to the base on its sides. The video is a forgery, it absolutely does not correspond to the reality at the stage of peeling off the touchpad's plastic cover. Don't even try this and buy the entire touchpad. It is simply impossible to peel off the original MB, it is only possible to break it off gradually. Maybe the Chinese copy of the touchpad can be peeled off, I haven't tried that. However, you cannot peel off the original MB touchpad in this way. Don't buy the cover itself from the Chinese, just waste your money. The solution is to buy the entire touchpad, which even from a Chinese company works without problems.
That is not true. I have just done it myself. It is quite hard to peal it off and the original top plastic cracks but it's removable if you are careful. I fitted the replacement and it is working. I pried it with plastic tooling to not damage the copper touchpad underneath.

Was wondering the same thing, superglue would be to strong, probably some sort of double adhesive tape would do.
