The Rave Scene was born out of "black culture"! Without the early Jazz/Blues clubs, Soul, Funk, Disco, Reggae Sound Systems, Blues Parties, Electro, Hip Hop, House, Garage and Techno, birthed predominantly by "black people", the scene as we know it wouldn't exist! Influences came from other cultures.

Great podcast! The contribution of Black Heritage music is immense to Rave culture. Where would we be without Sound System culture for a start?
Also, there should be better representation across the board.
I agree about the festivals, they are heading in the right direction in terms of diversity. Let's hope it continues. Big up all the original pioneers! :)

There's enough room for everyone considering we are now exporting our music worldwide to a global market. More people breaking through creates more healthy competition and developed.

Great podcast. Really interesting... I've read those comments that reckon techno was invented in Europe. Seriously, they're havin a laugh 🤣 Buzzin to hear a bit of Derrick May in your set at the Trades, Hebden 👍 Oh, and not all producers are good DJs but they get booked anyway. Weird.
Props to Si for name checkin Mike Shaft too. Used to listen to him alot

This is not only essential and stimulating, but is meticulously edited to EXACTLY one hour, which is the kind of attention to detail I would expect from a music legend.

I don't like commercial festivals that much. I actually like smaller clubs and that good community vibe but I guess that's my age. I sometimes still go to festivals but I miss the raw underground vibes and local scenes helping grow a sound in a community. The keyword is having a community but to music companies they try growing an artist without those foundations sometimes.

Enjoyed this. Definitely there is a lack of female DJs and producers. At least this scene is still pushing forward.💪🏾

Some good and aspiring "Top DJ's" never get a look in until they produce a rave hit. Happens to this day in most scenes because of "gatekeepers" and cliques
