Vitiligo really can start at any age. I'm 55 years old and my vitiligo just started. It's starting on my hands where my fingers are turning white and on my feet and legs. Now I have a spot on my forehead and my lips are losing color. It scared me at first when my fingers were turning white, I thought I was dying. I said what she said in the video, "I'm changing colors!" It started after I had COVID then a bad flu close together. I got over it and I was feeling better like my regular self then I noticed my fingers were turning white. That's why it scared me because I had just gotten over those viruses. And of course I didn't know what vitiligo was till I got diagnosed and it happened to me. So I'm already working on accepting myself for who I am. Watching videos like these are helping.

My father has vitiligo, its started with a small patch on his face in 2004 he was 35 and today his vitiligo is all uniform if you see him you will never believe that he was born black, it affected him so badly, it would take him hours to get ready for work, he tried every treatment nothing worked, he finally accepted it and moved on and his happy.

I had very dark circles around my eyes almost all my life, due to eczema. The eczema cleared up but the skin discoloration was still there. Some kids used to call me "racoon". It was extremely hurtful. As an adult sometimes people would make rude comments about my dark circles or tell me I needed more sleep. Even though I wore cover-up, it really didn't work after a while, especially in the heat. For years I wore concealer to cover it up. Like you, I realized over time, I didn't look like myself. My eye area looked fake with the concealer on, like not me! I finally decided to embrace my natural self. Now I don't wear concealer anymore! I have embraced myself just the way I am. It took many, many years for me to do that. I am glad that you embraced your beautiful self at a much younger age than I did. You make me smile. I never thought of myself as a painting until now. Your husband is so right. We are paintings, valuable and beautiful, for all to stare and admire! :-) Wow!! What a beautiful way to see myself, a painting! That is amazing! Hi sister!!! I saw you quite a bit on TikTok a while ago. I don't have the account anymore. I love you on TH-cam. Your joy and positivity shines through. Your message is powerful here. I had very dark circles around my eyes almost all my life, due to eczema. The eczema cleared up but the skin discoloration was still there. Some kids used to call me "racoon". It was extremely hurtful. As an adult sometimes people would make rude comments about my dark circles or tell me I needed more sleep. Even though I wore cover-up, it really didn't work after a while, especially in the heat.
For years I wore concealer to cover it up. Like you, I realized over time, I didn't look like myself. My eye area looked fake with the concealer on, like not me! I finally decided to embrace my natural self. Now I don't wear concealer anymore! I have embraced myself just the way I am. It took many, many years for me to do that. I am glad that you embraced your beautiful self at a much younger age than I did. You make me smile. I never thought of myself as a painting until now. Your husband is so right. We are paintings, valuable and beautiful, for all to stare and admire! :-) Wow!! What a beautiful way to see myself, a painting! That is amazing! Thank you and your husband for sharing!
