Siskel & Ebert will be the only two real film critics ever to shine on tv. Other than a few that have made a mark on TH-cam. They are the bed rock of what real true film review, value, vocabulary, homage, & criticism are meant to stand for. Kubrick is and will be hailed like so few many directors to have been auteur filmmaker. Love his work or hate his work you can’t deny he has made a lasting impact on film, media, and art forever.
2001 A Space Odyssey was not very interesting at all. Movies are all about telling a story. This film was just a self-conscious exercise in philosophical self-expression, and it was just not that interesting. I would give it two stars, because the film was visually stunning, but not much else.
It was the story of beings, or gods, who found primitive man and gave them an evolutionary push, set a trip alarm, which when found began the journey for a 2nd evolutionary push. Its a fascinating story

kubrick made a staple in scifi once in a lifetime film.
it makes me profoundly happy to learn, even via that sad story, that gene got to talk with kube
Me too!
Haha Ebert's Ted Turner slam :'D
Hahah Ebert is the best
no one's tried to make a movie like 2001 since 1968, maybe no one can.
Excellent film. But apparently the critics didn’t think so. It was not nominated for best picture.
"if ted turner had it, he would colorize it pink and use it as a desk." OUCH!
A masterpiece by Stanley Kubrick saw it re released in cinemas in 2019 in 4K
So MGM destroyed the monolith prop? That's odd cuz didn't Kubrick himself usually have his film props destroyed once production was completed?
Gene Siskel: Attorney at Law? Nah....
