There are many examples of f u n n y s o n g s in the history of rock n roll. And the are many songs - funny and sad - a b o u t having fun. But there is few to listen to a band a c t u a l l y h a v i n g fun - as much as Dylan and the Hawks turning into The Band in the basement of Big Pink.

I remember trying to make out the words (way back when Internet wasn’t a thing) and wondering just what the words were, because I couldn’t believe my ears! And I couldn’t even say “that’s just a mumble, cause it was sung by Baez 😅
Dylan always loved obscure verses but this one didn’t even sound like an allegory.
And still, it adds more of the quirkiness that make a sweet theme positively fun.
