Good seeing you post a vid, wishing your family the best. The door panels: This repair method typically doesn’t last but a year or two. It’ll buy you time, and you may get away with doing it over every few years. But if you want to do it right, you’ll need new panel inserts (I suggest Coverlay hard plastic ones). In the video, you just sanded the backing down. To do it right, you need to remove the backing. It’s not really that hard. Start at the bottom where it’s thin, take a flathead screwdriver in the groove and pry up an edge of the backing. Once you get it started, it’s not too bad to peel the rest down to the plastic. It will peel off in pieces leaving very little glue residue on the black plastic underneath. The Coverlay inserts are hard plastic. They actually stick on with silicon adhesive. But they fit and look great! If we ever get back to having local car meets, check out the blue inserts I put in my California Special. I’m extremely pleased with the way they turned out.
Good morning JD. A while back, I mentioned to a buddy at work that you had a video coming about this. His '06 GT has been the same way for a couple of years, so I'll send him the link. That looks a whole lot better.👍 Did it work ok on your work boots? I've had that before, too.😅 Liam is getting good at drifting and I see he's even dabbling in vloggin' a little but now. Before too long, those boys will be running the show.😉 I hope everything goes well for y'all (especially Laura) over the next few weeks and we get to meet that new Joyrider soon. Have a wonderful weekend, bud.✌
Keep up the good work! Hope all is well with #teamlaura! The boys are getting big! I hope my 07 GT500 doesn't do that. It also has the red inserts. Stay safe JDJoyride family!
I tried the spray like you did 7yrs ago, but it didn’t work. Eventually, took the door panels only to a car upholstery shop , charged $200 and they turned out great and still holding strong.
Could possibly warm up the door panel and take a plastic scraper or roller to it to try and even it out. Pretty normal for apolstry glue to wear out over time. They really don't like humidity or direct sunlight. Luxury cars have the same problem with the leather shrinking & glue wearing out.
I bought the plastic ones from Amazon and went to a paint and body shop and paid them 100.00 to put them on and they look much better than the vloth that will continue to come off
@@JD_JoyrideTV va still better then pa. People are nicer area is beautiful. Taxes are high in pay. My property taxes are high for a 1920 home and the little land i have. When im in va feels like home

Ya I was gonna ask what was going on I had not seen any video's in a little while, Just blew my Clutch in my GT 500 the other day doing a pull. Got up to 650HP and Torque and the clutch let loose. So it's gotta go back to Mc Leods to get rebuilt. I though I had room to play since it's the 1200 HP clutch but I guess not. LOL!!! Question What Slack adjuster's did you have in stalled when you had a problem a while back. I need to replace those and install some stronger Rods before the big BOOM. I am torn between the Boost Line by Wiseco Rods and the Extreme - Tuners Rods, Not sure if the Extreme would be good for a street driven car, Have you heard anything about them for a daily driver on the street??? Thanks
@@JD_JoyrideTV Yah JD out of all 4 of my shelbys only one had that issue my 07 Shelby GT. My buddy sprayed on the door of his mustang GT and it's not coming off.
Love the channel, the fam and everything you do by the way, even if you like Mustangs. LOL Can’t wait to see what’s next for the C10 too! I say 350, not LS
Every 05-09 mustang owner has done this already, and best believe it will fall off again, weak adhesive from factory.. gotta completely strip it and get a replacement from American muscle
I sent my message to soon I was saying those two boys are really growing like weeds hopefully everything is well on the personal side and I seen the video so I know what's going on wish you the best with that I was just thinking about you today ok jd take care of yourself see you next time
Yeah, that is a common issue when cars are getting older. You can see that also on sagging headliners on older cars. What happens is basically that the fabric has some foam on the backside. This foam deteriorates after some years and the fabric and the foam seperates. Depending on the fabric you can remove the old foam like you did and reglue the stuff. On headliners this is often not possible as the fabric is kind of open and the glue would just go through it, so it would look very sh*tty. New fabric then and you are good. I know those issues specifically from older Saab models and some german cars like Volkswagen...
We wont hate you if you sell the GT500 and build a Terminator Cobra.......just saying...... At least my Cobra's interior does not peel like that, well because its all made out of fisher price plastic lol
Bet it fell off again, that glue will not hold, I’ve done mine twice. You need to scape all the foam off down to the plastic and reuse the leather or use plastic type inserts like Coverlay. Ford continued using this garbage method until the redesign in 2015.
Good seeing you post a vid, wishing your family the best.

The door panel on my GT500 is peeling as well. I'm going to try your repair method! Thanks for the video!
Hope it works out for ya. Just tape and sand it well.
@@JD_JoyrideTV will do!
Remove the leather panel altogether and scrape the foam that is still on the door and then glue the leather back on to be permanent.
Keep the good work coming I love watching

Yup hopefully it holds up.

Luckily my headliner is good, I remember as a kid getting in some old cars with thumb tacks holding up the headliners.
Same crap. With my 07Gt500. Ford for whatever reason made the worst interiors. Some day I'm going to redoo my entire interior.
Nice!!
I love your kids.
I sanded my door panel and then painted it
That’s not a bad idea.
I used a texture spray paint
Your boys are so cute.
I'm on Youtry 😂
Haha my little dude
29 percenter here 🤣
yeah I knew you would.
Hope yours lasts longer then my S197. Gave me another year and fell again. Ordered new leather on Ebay. Been 3 years now.
Wow, I’ve seen other replacement panels I’ll try if this fails.
Don't waste time gluing old panels. They won't last.
