    Unforgettable Unforgettable! Beautiful tune and I love/d Nat King Cole, what a voice and what a piano player. Definitely included on the list!

    I used this as the basis for learning the song, particularly the intro, and farted around with it without much conviction for months. Then found another version that I switched to while retaining your intro. Now going back and listening after some months, can appreciate the subtle artistry of this version. It's all good, and shut in with the Covid 19 lockdown, am making real progress. Such a pleasure to play and I never tire of this classic!

    I have watched a lot of jazz piano stuff on TH-cam, as a rank amateur trying to learn how to work things out for myself. I find Tony W's videos among the few that I really learn from. Great style, really helpful, thank you very much.

    Thank you so much for including the chords, especially in the intro. I was really having trouble finding them. I'm trying to adapt this song to ukulele :P. This made a lot of sense, thank you thank you thank you.

    Beautiful tutorial! Love your unpretentious and straight-to-the-point style. You let the quality of your musicianship speak for itself. It's not dismissive at all, it's about remaining humble. That's rare and I love it!

    I just found your channel, and I am absolutely blown away! Thank you for this content. I am an 'okay' piano player. I know a fair bit of music theory and have intermediate skills, but thanks to your videos and the tension charts you've uploaded, my piano playing is really getting to that next level. Also, you look a bit like Brian Cranston in this video!

      Great ! I 'm looking forward to that ! If possible with rootless voicings.. I've been persuaded to take an exam and roots are frowned upon ( I'll be accompanied by a bass and drums).

    E7 sharp 9 (fourth line) sounds a little weird to me. is that the correct chord? I am using E G# B D and G for the sharpened 9th.

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leave out the B. I think the chord is from the Nat Cole arrangement. E7 is an alternate to C7 moving back to the tonic F so if you don't like E7, try C7.

    • @bohnulus
      @bohnulus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi barry, I use the Dom7+, ( in this case I used E7+.... tell me if ya thought it worked? maybe.... thought that 7#9 was kinda weird too.

    What is "The Book"?

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know... can you be more specific?

    • @codetech5598
      @codetech5598 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You kept talking about "The Book" in the video, like "the book says that but I play this instead".

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The chart in G in the description is from The New Real Book 2. That is the book I'm referring to. Just hit the link and view or print the chart.

      @@TonyWinston I have the sheet music with the picture of Natalie Cole. It names the album, and even says "As performed .. duet with her father ..." but it is *nowhere near the actual music or key of the actual duet.* It is in "G". Of course the actual music starts on "F" not "G". Why would they claim "As performed by ..." when they don't even use the correct key?
      (It does get that part "first time being flat, the next time natural" correct.)

  • @codetech5598
    @codetech5598 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    At 2:35 you said "Bm7" but played B F A D E which has F not F#.

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Busted! It is Bm7b5
