Imagine being the guy who handed Layton the RNG weight puzzle and, from your point of view, he just instantly hands you back one of the weights and says "this is the one" without touching the scale at all. What are you supposed to do? Just trust him? can you even argue with Layon? what a power move.
The NPC probably checks for you, since they likely know what the true weight of the lighter weight is... Probably in real life the weights have their intended weight listed, let's say one pound, and one of them happens to have had an air bubble inside when it was being made, making it .9 pounds.
What's so interesting about this run is that there'e very little difficulty in execution but it's a very complex challenge in terms of routing, which is the opposite of plenty of runs on this channel
The biggest execution challenge is getting the game to recognize your handwriting, and even that's arguably a routing challenge (just routing your penstrokes rather than your puzzles).

I learned cursive from a handwriting book back in 2003. That cursive f is how i learned it in the first place, and I didn't even know that having the loop in the front was a valid version for over ten years.

Technically there are half-taps; a tap has 3 parts like an A-press, with the initial tap, holding the tap down, and releasing from the touch screen. What Layton DOESN'T have is a way to actually store taps in a way that matters as you generally get reactions either on the precise moment you tap or the precise moment you release on mouse/touch screen games--and half A-press tech usually involves the part where it is actively being held, which is inbetween those two. tl;dr Well, PlazmaZX, hear me out, not that you have any reason to.

Ayy Professor Layton! Man this brings back memories of having Pandora’s Box and trying every possible answer when I was stuck. The story is always really good in these games, would definitely recommend!

I would love to see more of these with the other Professor Layton games! Its a different kind of run compared to your other videos, where a lot of it is the routing. Im curious how much harder/easier it gets in the later games!

I JUST replayed this specific game, brings back so many memories...needless to say this video was perfectly timed. While my 100% run failed, I am happy to see someone as bad at video games as I am try to be smart outside of the puzzles rather than in. Nice work!
Your challenge reminds me of a rpg game for the ds called magical starsign. It is hard to get now but if you can it is a game about 6 students using magic to solve there problems. I have 2 challenges. A: beat the game without using magic. Or B: minimum enemies koed run
OMG T°T Thank you for doing a Professor Layton one. I loved this series of games to death as a child and most have forgotten these. They are super underrated DS/3DS games so thank you!
Challenge run suggestion: can you beat miitopia without using safe spots (you have to complete the tower of despair to complete the challenge run) Bonus challenge: you can’t enter levels that are fully completed and don’t lead to a secret level and also if you enter a level that isn’t complete than you have to take the path you didn’t go on(these challenges only apply before entering post game aka you complete the bonus challenge after defeating the darker lord)
Honestly as always I love all of your videos, you make even what sounds like the most simple and boring of challenges extremely entertaining to watch and listen to. it's a mixture of your voice, the structure of the video and just generally how you put everything together. Keep on keeping on Gamechamp and may you be happy.

Oddly enough, we were taught the backwards looped F in my class, and I never knew there was a forward loop until today, lol.
I decided to watch this in 144p due to the quality disclaimer. It didn't change much. Must be very high quality content.
Getting hand-drawn animated cutscene's into a 32MB cartridge with also all the game logics, 2D and 3D assets and tons of voice acting is no easy feat.

I can already imagine the sorts of puzzles that would need to be skipped in Diabolical Box... Chess, Marbles, and probably the pancakes too, but I think at least one pancake stacking puzzle IS required for a picture fragment. Layton's always fun too see at least

I haven't played professor layton in years, but I miss it so - just remembered they were developing a new game for the switch, that came out back in 2019, so I might pick that up.
If you have a phone, there are HD remasters of the original DD games on there aswell
honestly I wouldn't go for the switch game, it doesnt have the same charm as the original series. Id try the mobile remasters instead

Your challenge reminds me of a rpg game for the ds called magical starsign. It is hard to get now but if you can it is a game about 6 students using magic to solve there problems. I have 2 challenges. A: beat the game without using magic. Or B: minimum enemies koed run

OMG T°T Thank you for doing a Professor Layton one. I loved this series of games to death as a child and most have forgotten these. They are super underrated DS/3DS games so thank you!
Challenge run suggestion: can you beat miitopia without using safe spots (you have to complete the tower of despair to complete the challenge run)
Bonus challenge: you can’t enter levels that are fully completed and don’t lead to a secret level and also if you enter a level that isn’t complete than you have to take the path you didn’t go on(these challenges only apply before entering post game aka you complete the bonus challenge after defeating the darker lord)
